as of writing this comment, it seems like HDB has updated the links to a lot of the sites i mentioned in this video, so i've updated the links that i included in the description. but take note that the screenshots of the HDB website in the video might be slightly different from the current pages on the HDB website now!
Hi Lisa. I believe the estate of your father may be able to stake claim for a percentage of the flat in equity. Please do see a lawyer quickly if your family wishes to explore legal options against your aunt.
My dear , You are an inspiration & I feel so proud of you & I extend my maternal love to you 💕💞💖💝 I too had to purchase a flat for my homeless mother & myself at the age of 26. That was 30 years ago ! So I really empathise with you. 😍🥰
Thank you for being so vulnerable and open and sharing your story. I honestly clicked this just because I was curious, I'm single & turning 25, I had no intentions to buy a HDB but I stayed through the entire video. Your strength, tenacity and your love for your family was so admirable and how you told your story, how you actually explained something that is usually a long and complicated process and made it so easy to follow through, was really impressive too. You're an amazing storyteller and an incredibly strong woman! Just want to say you've done so well, and I don't know you but I'm so so proud of you. I hope the future will be much kinder to you and your family and I'm rooting for you! Can't wait to see more great content!
I got teary as I got to the end (and yes, I watched the entire 49 minutes of this). You're so brave to have gone through all of this, processed and acknowledged your pain, and still choose to very systematically organise all of this info for others to learn from!! You got this adulting thing in the bag (speaking as someone a few years older and comparatively still fumbling in the dark). It's upwards and onwards for you - genuinely hope life treats you kind
I wanna give u a hug. I have been through some shitty times growing up too. Depression, lack of a stable roof, shit relatives, abuse. So I wanna say you go girl, don't let this traumatized u, it is character forming and these will serve you well. U have a good head on ur shoulders. So proud of you. Also looking forward to your renovations video 💜
Only been through half the video but this is a great and educational video and I'm not even looking into getting a flat currently. Wishing you great success in life and hope your UA-cam channel grows.
I empathize with you. I did the same thing in 2001, at 25 yr old, buying a HDB flat with my grandparents who were upgraders to private property. My family were more than 3 generations of Singaporeans, and I also did not get any HDB grants and not subsidized HDB loan. I paid 4% on HDB loan, for the 10 years. I wrote to MP and the PMO to do something for the single Singaporeans. 20 years later, you went through the same HDB regulations because nothing had changed for single Singaporeans. Your narration is really clear. Good job on moving your family out. You have the makings to be a successful professional.
I'm so sorry you had to go through everything you did, it's heartbreaking knowing how much you tried to make things better but the system continued to deny you the help you so clearly needed. I hope things are getting better for you and continue to do so, thank you so much for sharing your story! Also, love the avatar quote, coming from a fellow Iroh fan!
U r a very strong, young lady. Be proud of who u r. Being so responsible at such a young age. I have 2 daughters, ages 31 and 28. Im from Singapore but now live in USA. Ur aunt definitely did u and ur family wrong but she will be judged by God. I pray for abundant blessings over u and ur family. Take care and stay strong.
We may be strangers, but I'ld just like to say that you're doing a really good job! Just like you, I too, bought over my house at 24 too when my dad passed on two year ago. I still get agitated when I think about it though haha. It's like you want to do it because it makes others happy (and because of circumstance too) but at the same time its frustrating because it isn't exactly what you want. It's more of what others expect you to do just because they think you would. It actually does take a lot of courage to be embarking on this journey, a lot of coaxing and self persuasion. No one would understand how difficult the whole process is unless they are in your shoes. Hearing you mention the things that you've been through, I would just like to give you a pat on your shoulder. Being only 24 at that point of time and having to go through all that you've mentioned, you're really doing such a great job. I really do hope that things would only get better for you from here on. Pretty sure amazing things are out there waiting for a great young lady like you.
Hello Lisa. It's tremendous what your family had to endure, especially the injustice of the house ownership system in Singapore. I believe it's edge cases like these that need to be reviewed and taken into account, and in some cases, the rules get amended. Years ago, there was a call to IRAS's call centre asking about the Foreign Maid Levy (FML). It was one of those taxation policies that sought to encourage married women to stay in the workforce. A newly widowed woman had called in to ask about her eligibility - but she wasn't entitled to it. Divorcees and married women were, but the law had overlooked the most needy. I was involved in handling the lady's enquiry, and appealed for a revision in this policy. One year later, it was also extended to widows (it's late but better than never)! Thank you for sharing your story. I wish nothing but the best for you and your family.
I chanced upon your reno video when I was browsing through reno videos for ideas. I thought it’s impossible that you are a 24-year-old because you are too eloquent and mature for this age. I was still a lost sheep and didn’t know what I was doing at your age. Even in my late 40s, I am ashamed to say that I am not as mature as you. I always tell others that I have gone through the worst in life and am tired of living but perhaps my life experiences pale in comparison to yours. I am currently living with a toxic family member as I am waiting for my flat. It’s very difficult as she’s always throwing her tantrums and all sorts of accusations and labels at me. She would threaten to throw me out when I retort. Thank you for your generous sharing of what you have been through. There are so many times I wished I could tell someone about what I am going through but yet I know no one around me would understand. You make me feel that I am not so alone on the part of living in a toxic environment. Perhaps I should have looked for a flat that does not require a 3-month extension. I reckon with renovation, I can only move into the flat at the end if this year if I am lucky. I just want to tell you that you are an incredible young lady and will go far in life with your wisdom and discipline.
I'm glad you came out stronger from this whole ordeal, especially when life took a left turn at the most vulnerable period of your life. I can totally relate how everything felt like looking back at myself now, so props to you for sticking to your guns and making sound long term & financial plans for your family and yourself. All the best to more cheerful days ahead! :)
You articulate really well and explained it very clearly, this had helped me alot for my own research of purchasing resale hdb as a single coming up next year. Keep it up!
You have been amazing and very strong. I'm glad you pulled through and also realised at the end of it that you are not alone in your struggles. Great things will be in your future. I've just bought a flat last year and while I'm already aware of the processes, your explanation and journey in navigating the processes would have been so helpful to those who are starting out on their search. All the best!
Just to let you know that you are a really brave soul and I salute you for figuring all this out on behalf of your family as well at the young age of 23/24 with the amount of emotional and financial stress that I can imagine you were going through. You have pulled it through now and hope you're now much more happier and comfortable and your new place because you deserve it
Thanks for being so vulnerable in sharing your experience with buying a flat! I feel your persistence and strength through your story. Even though I am not looking for a flat right now, you have inspired me. Happy for you for your achievement!
Hi Lisa, just want to give you a word of encouragement that you are doing great for yourself from the clear and systematic manner you present your thought process. My father also passed away when i was 14 leaving me to take care of my mum and younger sister. We have no home nor cash, and stayed at my granny's. Like the song "What doesn't kill you made you stronger", i am now in my 50s, married, with two adult kids, a fulfilling career and not in want of any material comfort. If you don't mind, i will like to share your experience with the relevant Ministry.
I just want to drop by to tell you how much I adore your tenacity & grit for as a young adult. As an only child growing up with my parents in a rental flat, I can totally relate to your experience. I do believe, however, that the perspectives & philosophy that you have gained as a person is much more valuable than anyone who grows up without any struggles in life. Kudos to you Maria, I hope you are well today wherever you are! :)
You wow me Lisa. To think you are only 24 years old and going through so much. You made such a detailed video of the resale process, even I who had gotten my resale flat few years ago couldn't even document and describe it as clearly as you did. Thumbs up for the great effort and I hope you stay positive young lady!
No matter what life has given you, I believe you handled with the best you can and come back stronger each time. Definitely made a right choice by purchasing your own flat. Very clear description of the whole flat buying process, keep it up!
Pat yourself on the shoulder young lady … you did well , SO VERY WELL 👍My dad passed away suddenly at the young age of 49yo. He did not make a will ( people in that era are “pantang” about these things. My family of 8 lived in a 3rm flat. I was 24yo then and have 5 younger siblings and mom to take care of. I had to give up many things and aspirations, the road in front of me was simply darkness. So I feel your desperation to succeed and make things work no matter how. Good things does happen to those who helped themselves. I’m in my 60’s now. And I don’t regret any decisions I partake then. I’m a happy Senior 😉 Sending you a bear hug, love and good vibes with abundance of blessings coming your way 🥰
Hugs. I also want to give you a hug. Your video not only taught about financials, but taught me how to be a person. You are a very strong person and it’s admirable. I wish that things will get even better for you, after this chapter. 🌈 Hang on for the rainbow.
Can total relate as i was once no where to stay and renting room for years. Never easy to live in someone's place. The lost of much freedom and stress of being homeless again. Thankful that everything turned out fine once i managed to get my own flat. When you reached rock bottom, the next way is only UP! It is a brand new start! Your bro and you are still young, both your financial position will improve as time goes by. Nothing more impt than having family by yr side every day when you open your eyes. Be positive and look forward....more good things to come. Cheers
i watched this video in full. i can't imagine going through what you did at 24 - you're truly tenacious and intelligent, and i hope you're in a much better place now. thank you for sharing your story with us. you also have a lovely voice (extra income from audiobooks?), and you're a great storyteller.
Stumbled upon your video by chance. Sorry to hear of what you have gone through, but you are such a resilient person, a very matured and filial daughter, and sister to your mother and younger brother. It sounds so comforting to hear your calm voice. You are an inspiration to all. My best wishes to you in whatever you do. You can do it!
I hope you succeed in your future endeavours and strong stay strong. The story and Timeline are well articulated , I can feel the emotions, challenges and struggle even if the story was told briefly and bereft of the nitty gritty stuff. Please continue and focus on your goals and aspirations, surely in this journey called life you will meet many people along the way that would be your guide, support, benefactor.
It's a long video but must say you have done very well not just as a content creator but your life story. I am sure you will go far in life as you have been "forced" to mature early. With your good understanding of finances and being discipline, you will be able to go further than many would.
You are a strong girl! I cannot imagine the 24yo me having to go thru the same. This is the best decision you can make for you and your mother at that point in your life. Virtual hugs!!!!
What a soothing voice you have Lisa, i know this comment has come very late but i hope life has treated you much better since and you're having an easier time. Pls take care of yourself.
You are wise beyond your years due to your experiences and the cards you were dealt. There's a larger than 10 year age gap between the two of us and still you are an inspiration to myself and many others. You have shown a maturity and wisdom that found in many young adults your age, much less you were new graduate fresh out of university when you purchased the HDB in 2020. I'm glad mostly everything worked out despite the setbacks with the grants, PTO etc. You put me in awe and I wish for only positivity in your life presently and going forward. Thank you for making such a quality and comprehensive video, very much appreciate the details and efforts you've put into making it. Also thank you for giving us a glimpse into your personal life - I feel like it allowed us to know you on a more intimate level than as a random subscriber. In saying that, I am sorry for your loss in 2019 and also the whole terrible ordeal with your aunt and her flat. Giving you a huge virtual hug for overcoming obstacles and for being such a positive role model. Stay strong and all the best Lisa!
As a Property Agent myself, I empathise with what you have gone through Lisa. I have handled several buying cases but yours is a very unique one. Kudos to your agent and congratulations on getting your flat. Speedy recovery to you. Godspeed.
Hi Lisa.. came across your channel by chance. Kudos to you.. I can relate how stressful the process you went through.. on the point about applying for PR, I experienced it (rejected 4 times) and after living in SG for 14 years, I decided I need to move somewhere else. I wish all the best and good luck!
Thank you so much for sharing this and condolences to your family. You are so brave to have gone through all of this and come out the other side. Your videos have really though me a lot of financing in Singapore as a newcomer to the world of adulting. Wishing you all the best and would love to see more great content!
Thank you for sharing your story. I'm currently looking for a flat because of my home situation now and this video is really helpful! Kudos for going through this period so well as a 24 year old! You are mature beyond your age!
you've done really well for yourself despite the situations and hardships that were thrown at you. And this is just my opinion, but I believe the decision you made was not an emotional one. It was very wise of you to value and protect the emotional wellbeing of yourself and your family, and you were only 24 years old. Fresh out of uni, you did your best with the knowledge you had and studied up on what you lacked. What you did and achieved at the end of it all are commendable. I'm glad that you're going through a deliberate process of healing right now, and I pray that you'll receive the enlightenment you need to feel free once more. Live your life with your head up and be proud, because you're amazing.
congratulations kak lisa! you are SO STRONG for pulling through and sharing your experience for everyone. Thank you, you are an inspiration to the younger folks like myself!
I subscribed to your channel because of the efforts you put into making these videos. From your narration, you came across to me as a smart, strong and sensible daughter and sister. I am sure life will be better for your family and yourself in coming years. Take care.
wow, this is such a well-made video...might have found this a little late but really had to leave a positive comment on something truly meaningful. wishing you the best!
Thank you for sharing your life story and journey. You did go through massive life obstacles for a tenacious 24-year old and I am sure you've learnt a lot from all of this. Also, congratulations on getting a home for you and your family. I agree that systemic barriers are difficult and frustrating for some people and sharing this useful information, will definitely help and inspire those who may be in similar situations as you. Take care of yourself and remember that the online community is part of the support system that is here for you as well.
I was not interested in the info of your buying a flat. Bur rather your courage, tenacity, intelligence to live your life not only for yourself but also your family. It is inspiring to anyone not necessarily thinking buying a flat. Indeed it is a good life story. Thank you for sharing your experience. (I am a Singaporean retiring in Australia who does not hold high opinions of the new gen Singaporeans.)
Thanks for making this video! Your challenging situation made you stronger, good on you. Strong people challenges difficult situations head on even if it is unpleasant, and learn that in life most good stuff aren’t pleasant (ie difficult, tiring, road blocks), like losing weight, saving money, learning, etc. but unpleasant is okay, it can be understood and even enjoyed. It’s all about prospective.
Thank you Lisa for sharing so intimately and yet so objectively throughout this video! You deserve every view you're getting and I definitely looking forward to seeing more content
Just finished the video - I can't imagine the amount of stress you went through during that period. You are younger than me but you are an inspiration, all the best!
Hello Lisa, I'm grateful that you have shared your house-buying journey in this video. It's extremely informative as I'm also house-hunting right now. It's also opened my eyes to the challenges that others face and appreciate my privileges. It's not easy to share a personal story online and I admire your courage to do that. You have been through a difficult journey in life and I sincerely believe and wish for you a healthy and blessed life ahead for you and your family ❤️🌈🥰
thank you so much for sharing your story! You are so strong, and as someone who graduated at the same time as you, it puts my own problems and struggles to shame. just wanted to say that you have a gift for simplifying complex concepts into clear tables and mindmaps -- and of course a great gift for video making/narration. These talents will bring you really far :) keep doing what you do!!
Thank you for sharing your story Lisa, you're truly an inspiration both financially and mentally. I wish you and your family the best in your newfound home and be happy and healthy at last. You're not alone 💖
I’m so impressed and proud of you! How hard and stressful it must have been for you especially at that young age. Congrats on getting your home and well done for persevering. Your story has genuinely moved me. Thank you for sharing❤
So proud of you! You did a wonderful job! Way to go! Keep it up! You are doing really great!!! Your video was very detailed and very helpful. I appreciate the true numbers you shared and the struggle. It makes more sense to look at it this way even though our financial situations differ from each other. The calculation and the process and the fees are what we do not see and need to see so we can consider properly. Way to go girl!!!
Gurl, I wish I could give you a hug 🥲 Your grit in the face of all these obstacles is admirable and I'm amazed that you have overcome them and are now making educational content out of them! That being said, I'm sorry you had to go through all that trauma and grow up faster than others. Please continue going for therapy and process all that hurt. I hope one day, your body will no longer feel the ache from your past trauma. All the best to you!
Thank you for this courageous, sincere, and meticulous sharing! You reminded me of myself who went through contrasting moments in life in the earlier part of my life! I already know you will be very special because of the unstoppable resilience and the spirit you have nurtured in life! Rooting for you and praying for you and your family!!! :)
Thanks for sharing your experiences & happy for you that you've got a home after going through all that. Looking forward to part 2 and how to make a 2 room flat work for a 3 person family. Keen to hear about the renovations & how to make every cent count!
it such a long process. I can feel your difficulty you went thru. Suddenly, I felt like crying as I looked back at my own journey. there are too many decisions to make while having your hand full. Brave girl.
May I just commend you, "well done for taking this path and for going through LIFE like an adult! You handled it well and you are way more mature now. And I certainly hope that life begins to be kinder to you from now on!" :)
Thank you for sharing! I felt everything on a personal level, and I'm so grateful for how detailed your videos are as I know these are the information I would need and start processing soon. I face difficulties that I find it hard to share with my trusted friends as they are of a different ses than me, so thank you for being so open and transparent! It really made me feel like I'm not alone in this (although many processes are so hard-fixed and frustrating!!!). I don't usually interact with videos, but you are the rare few that I subscribe and like! Hope your insights can reach out to more people and get that yt revenue girl!!
Hi Lisa, you've been one brave & strong lady! You will have tons of blessings to tie you through your ups & downs in life. I just finished part 1 of the video and I feel so sad to hear of what you went through, and am very happy to have already seen your 2-room resale house tour, knowing that you have pulled through. Continue braving life, all will be better! Btw, by sharing what you went through, I believe it has and will continue to help others out there who might have similar difficulties which you faced. Thank you for putting up this inspirational + informational video!
Once again, another super helpful and informative video☺️ Thank you for sharing so honestly and vulnerably, Lisa!! It's helping many lost and clueless uni students like myself🙏🏻 And I'm sure many others as well. All the best to you and all that you do☺️
I'm lost of words to hv watched the whole vid with alot of admiration n how strong that u hv faced the challenges head on n put down all of them for a better tomorrow. Life is a journey n keep press on n not look back. The beauty awaits for you and your family. May the positive energy surround and protect you.
I’m 29 trying to upgrade my mum’s 3rm to 4rm over the years. I didn’t get a single help from HDB. For 1-2years I tried to apply BTO under family nucleus but it was IMPOSSIBLE as they won’t prioritise non-married couple application. Thankfully I found a Real Estate agent who was very willing to help me as it is complicated being 29, a freelance and a non-working mum aged 60. I have to fork out a lot more for a resale but it is much needed, having 8-6ppl in a 3rm is very suffocating. I’m really sad and disappointed at how singles are suffering in finding a roof over our head under our government’s rules and regulations. Not everyone can afford a private home.
Dear Lisa, thank you for sharing with us your story, and I am happy for your breakthrough. It is the most authentic and educational video i have watched about adulting. So glad to come across you channel. Best wishes to you!
Your TLDR alone was very helpful, thank you for summarizing and getting straight to the point, then letter people decide if they want to know the details. Edit: I have finished watching your video out of curiosity, and I think you have done very well considering the circumstances. When you mentioned your choice was emotional rather than financial, I feel that having a place to call home and be able to return to and work for is way better than enduring a toxic environment, you might be better of financially, but therapy is expensive in Singapore as well, so in reality, perhaps you saved on the other side of your finances rather than just on the house.
Thank u for sharing. It brought me a lot of comfort. Knowing I am not alone in my emotional wounds and physical wounds . Inflicted by so-called family.
Thank you Lisa for your Authenticity to share with us and it is very educational for me now as planning to get a HDB too. All the best to you and family. You will emerge Stronger for sure.
Ur will really touched me, I'm glad u pulled thru. I can relate to ur pain, i'm so proud of u. The bureacratic system makes it extremely difficult for those outside of the traditional family nucleus to have access to basic needs, simply bc we dont fit their ideals. They make u jump thru so much hoops just to acquire a basic necessity that is not even affordable. Thank u for sharing ur story and i can relate to what ur going thru.
Hi Lisa, I am glad you made it through the entire ordeal and that you're living a better life. Hope your positivity and emotional maturity will take you to greater heights in life. Your experience mirrors that of a family featured in CNA's recent series, Homelessness in Singapore, where the mother is a foreigner and 2 children were in there tertiary education. The father was abusive and they eventually moved out while the mother filed for a divorce. The family of 3 moved in with a relative until they were forced to moved out and lived on the streets. The government eventually rendered assistance and they got a rental flat. My takeaway after watch your video are: 1. Since most of us do not go through such rough situations, we often take what we have for granted. 2. Situations like yours are uncommon but very real, and very often falls into the blind spots of our existing housing policies. I hope the housing policies can do more to help families like yourself where one parent neither a citizen nor PR with grown up children who have yet to enter the workforce.
Thank you for your video. It was well laid out, thought out, narrated, organised, had good writing fonts, and I really commiserate with you. Thank you for your time and efforts in making these videos.
I feel your pain of not having your own house which suppose to be the place where we can get comfortable and be yourself with. My husband moved here from china since he was 10 and had been renting the house until 27. We are also struggling about what we can and can’t purchase in terms of having only 1 Singapore citizen in our household while other holding only Longer term visa which can only purchase resale house which we can’t afford at that time as freshly graduate. And I also feel your joy after finally got a place to called “my home”. After renting the house for almost 18 years. I finally got my PR so me and my husband can finally purchase BTO and we got lucky to get a sale of balance. We are now very happy with our home and we love it so much. Since we know the feeling pf not having ours before makes we are more appreciate of what we have now. I’m so happy that your story and a good ending too and I believe it will getting better from now on. Much love.
Hey Lisa, i am looking forward to your next video on renovating the new house and most importantly, that will mark the start of the new chapter and the healing process begins.
Your family would be very proud of you. Instead of succumbing to the circumstances, you made quick, sensible decisions to provide a better life for your family. You are one of the strongest, most mature and amazing 24 yo I know.
I believed by now 2023 you should have a better life, after watching your videos i should say you made all parents proud of what you have done and achieved. Keep up the good work. Aside you really have a forty year old mentality. Given your character your future look bright. Kudos for staying strong.
thanks so much for sharing your vulnerabilities and being so honest and open, and a big big virtual hug for you, you are so strong and courageous to overcome all these difficulties and be where you are now ♥️ i also really appreciate that your story shed light on how tough singapore can be to “imperfect families” - foreigners, singles, people who are not “ideal” for the society. as a foreigner who came to singapore alone, i am grateful for the privileges that I have, but we should not ignore the system barriers that the society set up for us
Thank you for sharing so deeply about what you went through! I admire your courage and been a pillar of strength for your family at such a young age. Wishing you success in all your future undertakings ! Take care.
Having listened through your story, I can only say this that you will make it big one day. You are truly amazing and I wish that your life ahead will become smoother and achieve whatever you aspire to be. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
On the bright side, after resale mop, you can bto under fiancee scheme or singles after you hit 35 and get the grants! Buying something smaller for now is fine! Upgrade in the future! This is not the end!
Thank u for sharing your story ❤️❤️❤️ i learnt so much from you and it has really helped me in my resale hunt. Here rewatching for the third time today, and about to put in an offer for a unit we really love. Fingers crossed! Also, wanted to say that im so proud of you and for choosing to share your story to help others who need this info. I hope nobody has to go through the stress you had to and that your life is continuing to shine brighter and go smoother from hereon! Best wishes to you, your mum and your brother!❤
Very sad to hear what U have gone through. Good that U are strong n U finally make it - owing your own flat. It may be small but U can upgrade when U have the finance. It has been a hard time n is time U take take of your health n your mother n sibling. I wish U well n remember stay cool n have confidence in yourself. I salute to U. U are great 👍
as of writing this comment, it seems like HDB has updated the links to a lot of the sites i mentioned in this video, so i've updated the links that i included in the description. but take note that the screenshots of the HDB website in the video might be slightly different from the current pages on the HDB website now!
😲
Food for thought for this incredible video
Please find a lawyer and see if you can sue your aunt. There’s a limitation period of 6 years before your claim expires!
Hi Lisa. I believe the estate of your father may be able to stake claim for a percentage of the flat in equity. Please do see a lawyer quickly if your family wishes to explore legal options against your aunt.
Thank you very much for sharing. Meditation is good. 🙏🌿🌿🌿
My dear ,
You are an inspiration & I feel so proud of you & I extend my maternal love to you 💕💞💖💝
I too had to purchase a flat for my homeless mother & myself at the age of 26.
Can't wait to see more great content!
thank you so much 🥺❤️❤️❤️
I got teary as I got to the end (and yes, I watched the entire 49 minutes of this).
You have the makings to be a successful professional.
thank you for sharing, your comment rly hit home 😢
I got mine at 21. Straight after NS. Same, due to circumstances we can’t foresee. I feel you sis.
Thank you for sharing your story. It must have been a difficult time so I'm glad you and your family pulled through it!
Keep it up!
I am in a similar situation. Mother isn't citizen or PR. The road to buying a resale is difficult, paying the monthly mortgage is worse. Stay strong.
Cheers
Thanks so much watching your journey from Australia was amazing, you are very brave smart lady. Hos
i watched this video in full. i can't imagine going through what you did at 24 - you're truly tenacious and intelligent, and i hope you're in a much better place now. thank you for sharing your story with us. you also have a lovely voice (extra income from audiobooks?), and you're a great storyteller.
The story and Timeline are well articulated ,
I can feel the emotions, challenges and struggle even if the story was told briefly and bereft of the nitty gritty stuff.
Godspeed.
Filial and best daughter, put your family ahead of anything. Deserved our respect.
Personal finance, Buying a resale property, Therapy and Avatar make this such a wholesome video! Thanks for sharing a part of you with us.
Hi Lisa.. came across your channel by chance.
I'm very moved by your love for your family. Never lose the resilience!
Just finished the video - I can't imagine the amount of stress you went through during that period. You are younger than me but you are an inspiration, all the best!
Push on Lisa, that resilience and strength are admirable. You are an inspiration, we are all rooting for yo. Sending you a lot of love
Gurl, I wish I could give you a hug 🥲
Your grit in the face of all these obstacles is admirable and I'm amazed that you have overcome them and are now making educational content out of them!
Thank you for presenting this so eloquently, and for your open sharing ❤️
You are so strong and tenacious and i’m sure you will go far in life 💪🏼❤️
Thank you for sharing!
Finally, been waiting for your new videos. It is very therapeutic . I am shocked that you been through so much. The information is very structured.
You made correct decision to stop the emotional stress from relatives. Your pronounciation or diction is clear, very good.
Not everyone can afford a private home.
yes i understand 😢 it's a real gap in the system and many of us are falling through it
Dear Lisa, thank you for sharing with us your story, and I am happy for your breakthrough.
When you mentioned your choice was emotional rather than financial, I feel that having a place to call home and be able to return to and work for is way better than enduring a toxic environment, you might be better of financially, but therapy is expensive in Singapore as well, so in reality, perhaps you saved on the other side of your finances rather than just on the house.
we dont know each other but i want to tell you that i'm so proud of you. All the best. If you need any help, please reach out
Thank u for sharing. It brought me a lot of comfort. Knowing I am not alone in my emotional wounds and physical wounds . Inflicted by so-called family.
you are stronger than you thought! so proud of your mature mind and love for your Mummy and Bro... wishing you well Lisa! I love you home!
Your content and the pace of your delivery is really suitable for a podcast!! Do consider it!
42:00 House tour please? Reno King vibes. But in all seriousness, thank you for sharing 👌
This video was not just informative, but compelling. Thank you for sharing your story
Thank you for sharing your story. This was really educational. I'm so sorry for all you went through and here's to better days ahead!
Thank you for sharing your story! You are absolutely courageous in doing so and I’m sure it will help many others in similar situations. Keep going 💪🏻
Thank you for sharing your story. Definitely the most real channel I have seen. All the best to you and your family.
thanks so much for sharing your vulnerabilities and being so honest and open, and a big big virtual hug for you, you are so strong and courageous to overcome all these difficulties and be where you are now ♥️ i also really appreciate that your story shed light on how tough singapore can be to “imperfect families” - foreigners, singles, people who are not “ideal” for the society. as a foreigner who came to singapore alone, i am grateful for the privileges that I have, but we should not ignore the system barriers that the society set up for us
you missed out mentioning LGBT but I suppose that falls under 'singles'
Ur family and you are living in peace now (not sure about your aunt) .. You will continue to get rewards in life for your kind heart.
Well done to your efforts. I understand your emotional journey, but pray with time, you will get stronger and better for it.
Thank you for sharing so deeply about what you went through! I admire your courage and been a pillar of strength for your family at such a young age. Wishing you success in all your future undertakings ! Take care.
Hi Lisa, thank you for sharing this. I respect your choices and can empathise with you. Key was still your good education and 3k job.
Having listened through your story, I can only say this that you will make it big one day. You are truly amazing and I wish that your life ahead will become smoother and achieve whatever you aspire to be. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
You are so incredibly self sufficient and independent. Thank you for sharing this video, it was very informative!
Thank you for the effort you put in this vid and thank you for being so transparent and honest about your journey Lisa
