izzy xo No, I don’t think this is really why racism exists. Historically people have often enslaved their own people. It just happened that at the time that the Atlantic Slave Trade really took off, political movements were pushing for representation/egalitarianism/enlightenment/et cetera. So how can you make mad money off slavery while also living up to your supposed ideals? Dehumanize them and use race as the excuse. However, the underlying biases towards people “who don’t resemble you” are far older than the Atlantic slave trade and are not just seen in western cultures.

i think having diversity at schools is so important. Being exposed to different races and different cultures teaches kids to be less biased and experience more perspective. It's an essential part of education imo.
Race theory is fine. It is the critical race theory or the teaching that one race should be embarrassed or ashamed about being more successful than another is what is disgusting an not wanted in our schools. This anti-racism is making MORE RACISM NOT LESS.
@FireEmeralds76 The only guilt whites feel is the guilt we feel for other races who struggle @ finding success. And that guilt is caused by minorities saying it's because of whites that they aren't successful which is untrue. My kids have told me about the 'guilt' they're being told they should have for being white. It IS happening. It's all over ANY media you look at. Why is the question. Who would want the 🇺🇸 to be having racial turmoil? This IS what is being pushed. Who and why? I want my girls to live IN HARMONY with all other races. I can't comment on a lot of the ideas stated in this video as I am not acquainted with the literature and studies used as reference, but there is one thing that annoyed me. This whole racism equals prejudice + power notion. Racism is simply prejudice based on another's racial and/or ethnic characteristics and stereotypes that go along with that. Nothing else. And yes, those that have power are those that can actually act on their racist beliefs or... biases, but racism does NOT necessarily involve this. Power is not an essential component of racism. The only thing you need to be a racist is racial prejudice.
MikeSundayTV They redefined racism to vilify white people. There's already a term for racism+power and that's systemic racism. The only reason they now say that systemic racism is the only thing that counts as racism is so that black people can get away with being as racist as they want with nobody calling them out on their bad behavior.
@@Primalxbeast I have noticed a trend of that in the US. Don't know on how big a scale it's prevalent though, so I won't comment further. I'm more frustrated at the fact that ideology is seeping into a channel that was always very science based. I think I see what you’re saying. Racism can be expressed in someone as a desire to assert power or dominance over someone else, but does not necessarily involve it. Yeah the whole “racism is having power over someone else” thing is based on the idea that racist acts are all about belittling and gaining power over others. Which, while that certainly happens, is just about racist ACTS anyway. That reasoning equates racists acts with racism itself, which is incorrect. Correlation vs causation and all that

This is what I came here expecting. All they did was show that people are racist, with *some* of the "why", but not all of it.
OHM-968692 because of history- historically black people have been enslaved and therefore viewed as lesser, and we as a society are still getting over the effects that had on our perceptions. even though today’s people may not have experienced slavery, the attitude towards black people because of slavery and segregation etc have been passed down through generations.
They told you. It's learned.
OHM-968692 it's obvious
izzy xo No, I don’t think this is really why racism exists.

I think this video makes some good points but some of the effects of racism are based on self reported data... which is bias. "People who experienced more racism" ....what does that mean? Did they survey people? What's the measurement here?

My blood boils whenever somebody says they can't be racist for being a specific race.
But somebody wants the opposite and is pushing this crt along with many other things (like BLM, Reparations for centuries gone slavery and open borders with MILLIONS crossing into the country). We are being divided even more not less by these things. Someone is doing this INTENTIONALLY. I have my theories. It'll be up to you kids to squash this. I hope u succeed.
@FireEmeralds76 I think this is a new thing, this crt. It wasn't in school when I was there either but that was a long time ago. Race theory is fine and needed. CRITICAL RACE THEORY is NOT GOOD. But after they came and decided that they wanted slaves to do work for them, they decided to use the tribes to fight each other, therefore saving them the time and men of getting the slaves themselves. This means that not only the tribes are to blame, you must also blame to Europeans who came to take slaves, no matter the cost. There is a high chance of the tribes didn’t do it, they would do it themselves, which is evident after they abolished slavery, they decided to just use their land as their own through colonialism. Do you not know leopald of Belgium in the Congo? Germans in East Africa? Italians? British? French? Maybe do some research before saying I should be publicly hanged.

And they didn't "use" the tribes, one of the tribes and the Europeans made a deal with each other that they would trade goods and animals for slaves that the tribe had. And I never said the Europeans weren't to blame, I said that blacks contributed ALSO. And you can't apply modern logic to the 1600s. Slavery was normal. In those times, Europeans did nothing wrong. And almost every country began to abolish slavery around the time of the very late 1800s, not just those tribes. And I'm aware of what all those people have done, thx. 1:55 "paired with people they'd been told had bias against them" BUT DID THEY ACTUALLY HAVE THEM? Is it possible that simply telling them that someone they must work with is racist causes the stress regardless if any racial bias is present??
Yes. Its called anxiety
That's the point
Makes sense. If A is told that B hates them and they need to interact, A is probably going to be at least somewhat concerned, reguardless of what B thinks of A.
@@taj2962 Then their perception is the issue. Not the actual presence of racism.
@@TeddyVanWinkle Yes it is. That is true. But that would be the case if you were told somebody hated you for any reason. Similar feelings of anxiety could be produced if you were told that you were being paired with someone who hates that you're always happy or whatever. Due to this, I find that "anecdote to be a logical fallacy that is detracting from the real point this video is trying to make.
When i was growing up, i was exposed to media that portrayed black people as no different from white people. I also had a black friend growing up, and their family was successful and friendly. You could say i was 'colorblind'. I never thought about race differently. As i became a teen is when i really started to notice that people were definitely racist, but to be honest it wasnt coming from right wing racist white people or "systematic racism". It was coming from a black culture that put us vs them and promoted stereotypes that would be considered racist. I'm not saying white racism isnt a problem, but i dont think that is where the main issue lies.

In grade 7 a black girl came to my school and she also went to my old school for two grades. I don't remember if I liked her or not back when I was younger but when she came back in my life I was little exited because I we could talk about old times but as the days went on I didn't like as much anymore because of how she acted and she would lie and a Sat beside her for two months and I would be a little rude not to lie. Anyway my friends liked her so once I was biking with my friends and my best friend said he wanted her come with us so we go to her house and my friend knocks on her door and her grandmother opens the door and my friend asks if (let's call her Sally) Sally was home. The grandma said Sally wasn't even though Sally was. So anyway my friends left and we tried again the next day. This time I go knock on her door figuring that it was because my best friend was a guy and her grandmother didn't want her hanging with guys. So I knock on the door and the grandma said Sally was sleeping but I saw her just before so knew she was lying. The next day we asked Sally why and it turns out that her grandmother didn't want her granddaughter hanging out with white people because they are bad. I guess we should of got are first Nations friend to get her. So is the grandma racist or is she just cautious because the white people are a racist her and it's causing a trigger of racism?
You could've made this story 2 sentences and I would've got the point
The grandmother was racist IMO.
@@gurjastoor9303 yeah you would get the point but you wouldn't get the whole story.
Unfortunately, hatred of any kind is a cycle. The older people live off of experience and the young learn and adopt such values. Safe to say that if that girl's family continued to act like that around her, she will develop similar ideologies, even if other groups have done nothing to her and vice versa.

Do you have any idea how many people of ALL races turn to stuff like that because of stress from so many areas?? Saying that racism causes obesity and Brest cancer? Really? Big fan of this video! Great job and keep up the great work!
It wasn't a great job, they misrepresented the studies, needless to say that some of this studies told the people to pick them with a grain of salt due to the lack of research made by the study, and also at some point in the video they denied medical science by saying that all the bodies of all races are the same, while physically being the same, at a genetic level we are different, like redheads being more suceptible to pain by around 20% more than any other race.
Nuance bro breaks this video down and shows how most of this video is misrepresented

What I find interesting is the huge desire the public has to want racism to be real. For the most part - any claim of racism is believed without question - no matter how illogical the claim is.
Correlation vs causation and all that
MikeSundayTV racism + being the majority = oppression
For a video about racism, you'd think they'd at least get the definition correct.
