Lovely morchang. So many talented musicians in Kachchh
:-) he is talkin bout his journey he travelled..thru this beautiful trance ..hari om..
Beautiful
I'd go live like that in a heart beat.
Just as long as there's good food to eat and good water to drink
@LITTLE FOX , The sound that you think is whistling is what is called overtones. The high pitch sound coming out gives a whistling sound, which pitch is decided by the shape and size of the inside of his mouth.
Ise sunane ke baad bahut aaram Mila thank you for this baba ji
I listen to this when I'm going to bed... very relaxing sound :-)
Huh might be a good idea!
very nice Technic of playing) Namaste mr Pathan))
He is not whisteling, he takes breath inside and release the breath outside while playing the jaw'sharp, the mouth is to be empties as much as possible during playing this instrument. The echo inside the empty mouth is actually the music produced by jaw's harp. I can play this.
So good great playing 🎶👍🇬🇧
he produces harmonics by moving his tongue...it's amazing!Thank u for posting!!!
Not tongue. Jaw
Beautiful, that's the real thing with apnea, not the newer style that the youngsters play, which borrows from carnatic moorsing (that's an impressive style though). But this is soulful 👍
Amazing!
I'm from India🌷

Must watch.
Love the hypnotizing spiraling overtone you create! i have to find me a Morchang as well to see how it plays and hear how it sounds, love to try out new harps!
Alex, if you need morchang (or other jew's harps) take a look here: guimbardes.fr/categorie-produit/guimbardes/asie-centrale/inde/
Thx, this is my own account, for a while i was to lazy to use it and used my boyfriend's, I found your website, amazing! i'll place an order soon!
@LittleFox13 Sound also depends on instrument. Morchangs have quite stiff tongue and high base note. Also try closed sounds...
@LittleFox13 No, he is not whistling. Morchang (jaw harp) is played differently, you just "modify" basic sound of jaw harp moving tongue to different positions just like you modify sound of vocal ligaments when speaking.
Very Good! The Old Master :)
I really liked it!
beautiful. great performance, thank you for sharing with the world :-)
That's how I see my future. Good picture.

Sorry,I dont understand!
what mean "whistleing"...?
DOM
No, inhale and exhale during play can create undertones and sound like a whistle.
Check out Jason Singh and Rais Khan's morchang stuff its got a contemporary twist to it

ah, but this is a bit different. the jews harp or jaw harp is a piece you hit back from the mouth but this morchang uses percussion.

Whistle = Siffle.

Morchang!
he's just inhaling and exhaling to the beat.
Good
Very nice, will this instrument be imported to Peru?
Welcome to India and Pakistan...abundant talent...you will never be disappointed
@@kalakhldh Thank you very much.
hes just opening and closing his mouth as he does that, if you are talking about the noise you are at the end, that was him hitting his tooth, and that shit hurts.

its what we americans call a Jaw Harp. Its played the same. No "whistling"
bigdanish78
Yea it's the same thing, the whistling come from a higher key that the instrument is tuned in. You are right that american version was less loud, more boing and not a lot of whistling.
Does any one know where this instrum
ent derive from?
Mutsuri
Its jew harp, maultrommel, guimbarde, khomus, vargan, koukin......
guimbardes.fr/
No realy, its realy different frame and making!
it's found allover at digg ups on ancient sites, and is known by many names in countless cultures..
Mutsuri
It's hard to say what it was derived from. It's believed to be one of the oldest instruments ever created, before strings. It's a combination of some what s string instrument and wind instrument.
Drums are possibly older, not sure, tamberines as well.
Possibly the conception came from hunting bows, as some mouth harps use a string.
It's believed many common instruments today we're inspired by this instrument.
Basically, a harmonica is a chain of mouth harps.
The sound produced by a harmonica depends in the same physics as this simple harp. The mouth harp produces sounds by the vibrating metal Reed. Which is the same concept as saxophone, clarinet, harmonica, even a guitar and stringed instruments are all the same concept.
So chances are this instrument is very primative and original and has been the basis upon which numerous others have been made.
Mutsuri
Even the instruments shape resembles a tiny guitar being played by the mouth and hand.

Sorrry Idont no...

@LittleFox13
I dont understand,sorry!
wath mean " whistleing" ??
patangpatangpatang
A *whistle* is like you blow and make high pitch sound with lips and tongue.
Or a "whistle" is what they blow at sport games or in running for competition. They blow whistle to start running.
patangpatangpatang
The wind sometimes makes a whistle sound.
patangpatangpatang
Like "shwweee"
patangpatangpatang
Birds in the sky make whistle sound.

Try playing one, a well made one. If you get in a pattern. The vibs and the sounds are capable of producing a buzzed or high feeling.
its called murchungga in nepali and its a nepalese traditional musical instrument
It is know by almost every culture on the northern hemisphere under many different names, they found it all over the continents at archeological sites.. so impossible to claim who had it first, it's a blessing it's still around and alive, we are all one people anyway!
