Tesla is such a mixed bag... Great engineers, great vision for a product, etc. but how can a company be competitive when it has the inefficiencies of so much wealth being extracted from it rather than invested in building the product? What makes Elon Musk think he can withdraw tens of billions of dollars from selling Tesla stock to buy himself a personal media company (Twitter), and then try to pay himself another bonus of tens of billions of Tesla stock, when Tesla has not even yet sold a total number of cars of that value? And then he wants government subsidies and tariffs placed on foreign competitors? Use the public investments to make the cars competitive and stop stealing from the stock investors and from the tax/tariff paying public. Elon Musk's wealth doesn't just come from nowhere. Hydrogen is just electric in a different form. The oxygen and hydrogen are separated from water using electricity (the same way that it was shown in school labs) and the stuff that isn't water has to be dumped somewhere that isn't back in the ocean because it'll cause dead zones. A hydrogen car runs by passing hydrogen over a precious metal called platinum. The price of the metal now is $950 per ounce. or almost $31,000 per kilo. If you have seen what copper thieves will do, wait to you see what they do to a car with platinum. Oh wait, we have because that's why people steal catalytic convertors which have about 1/6 the platinum of a hydrogen car.

lol! "doing something productive" doesn't mean just producing stuff. If you produce plastics that fill up the environment and poison the water and air. If you produce tons and tons of cheap fashion that goes out of fashion each season and ends up in landfills. If you produce bombs and missiles and white phosphorus. If you produce millions and millions of vehicles that pollute the planet, fill up all the space in the cities, cause hours long traffic jams. We are being "productive" way more than we need to be, should be, than is good for ourselves. We are literally drowning in stuff we produce, half of it toxic, most of it unnecessary. The point of "doing something productive" is doing something that produces results that are good. Helping people with dementia live for their remaining years, or cleaning up coastlines, or teaching immigrants the local language, all these are "productive" but actually good for people, good for the planet, but don't "produce" anything.

If you wanna actually do something about global warming, I have four things for you to do that will actually make a difference. Stop driving your car/SUV/pickup truck. Stop flying on jet airplanes. Stop eating beef. Lobby your congressman to actually do something! To avoid extinction from this thermal runaway event, we have to take drastic action. Geo engineering is the only thing that can possibly save us. Otherwise we are literally toast. Please read Under a Green Sky, by Peter D Ward to understand thermal extinction events. But it starts with hanging up the car keys. If you are not willing to do these things there is no hope. We are gonna skip right past the stone age and jump back to the age of sulfur reducing bacteria. Life on land will be gone, the ocean will be purple slime and the sky will be green. Don't believe me? Read the book. Keep in mind, reality doesn't care what your believe.
To be honest, most of those things barely matter. 70% of emissions come from energy production and industries. Transportation(Including flying) accounts for around 20% of emissions. Agriculture emissions, primarily through red meat production and deforestation account for around 10%. Doing all this small things you mentiooned are helpful, sure. But in the grand scheme of things they wn't move the needle, even if everyone on the planet does it. Because as I said, 70% of emissions would be untouched. Moving to EVs wouldn't even matter either because the electricity used to fuel EVs is generated by burning fossil fuels. The only real solution to countering climate change is a complete revamp and restructuring of our entire society and a complete distancing from fossil fuels.
@@henrikswanstrom9218 Industriy & energy production -> producing consumer products. Don't escape accountability. It all comes down to us as consumers and especially to elites as, hyper consumers.
@@Pieherto This is what the elite and corporate america has done since the beginning. Shift the blame and responsibility to the consumer. The problem with greenhouse emissions mainly comes down to the burning of fossil fuels to produce energy. Mainly for electricity, heating and industrial production. We're talking about basic things here responsible for our everyday lives. The solution is not for consumers like you and me to consume less or change our habits. As I said, it helps, but it wont be anyway nearly enough. The system has succesfully duped people into believing it's down to the consumers to make change in their lifestyles to combat climate change. But in reality, the vast majority of emissions are released by corporations and produced as energy to meet our needs. What are we gonna do, stop use electricity? The only real solution to the problem is a concrete migration to renewable energy and/or nuclear energy. All form of carbon based sources or natural gas needs to be strictly prohibited. If all energy is produced that way, this energy could be used for transportation aswell further reducing emissions. That would leave agriculture, travel by air(Since there's no electric airplanes for now) and more niche sectors like non-energy related industry pollution, which together should amount to ~20% of what we currently release. While I don't combat or disagree with what you say. I think you're vastly overvaluing the impact of the suggestions you wrote. As I said, it's helpful. but it won't put a dent in the big picture. The problem isn't consumption and 'buying stuff'. It's the amount of energy needed to run our lives. You can't just cut electricity and warming from your life. Everything we do requires energy. The solution isn't to cut down on our energy expenditure. It's to fundamentally change where we get the energy from.
Musk is a workaholic, visionary, and a genius in some respects. He knows enough to hire people way smarter than he is in certain subjects. Unfortunately he also believes that people will work 24/7 like he does to meet aggressive goals. Why he got into Twitter (and now politics) is questionable. If he stuck with Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, Solar, Boring Co. he would have been better off. He knows that Tesla isn’t as good as it could have been if he had real car manufacturing expertise. He also knows that Tesla market share will diminish as more mainstream companies enter the field. His net worth will go down because of that but he will still have more billions than he could ever use.
What is Musk's mission at this point, to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy, doesn't seem to be it anymore. He now endorses drill baby drill.

I think robotics and probes are the better investments. We can rebuild cherished structural heirlooms of civic pride destroyed by financial & environmental disaster on space reclaimed from motor vehicles to serve purposes of social capital & green initiatives. We can resurrect local landmarks with green technologies such as hempcrete.

That hydrogen is better, electric is never going to have the range, and electric is worse than petrol and diesel in the making of the car process.
Hydrogen fuel tank is impossible
@@Manish_Kumar_Singh well h-cars exist and you can buy them. but still, h will always be a niche market.

Well anything scientific can exist as an engineering prototype.
But the inherent difficulty of storing and transporting hydrogen makes its unviable, unless we find some alternate way.
There one thing that repeatedly gets ZERO attention; municipal parks! There has been no effort that I've seen to set aside and create beautiful city parks. City Parks create environmental buffers, established tree canopy and create green aesthetic beauty that enhances community pride.
In ever expanding city limits lets set aside those green belts once again

THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL
Money is simply a tool, a resource to enable possibilities. I laugh now at the "love of money is root of evil" I heard growing up from people trapped in their poverty mentality. Those people are still poor and miserable due to a misinformed hate and immature misunderstanding of the purpose, utility, and wise use of money.

What job doesn't care about production? You produce at almost every job on the planet or get fired. The whole point of your job is to be productive.
It’s not about being productive if the company wasn’t productive it would fail Elon can not do any of this without the people around him he’s not tony stark. It’s about working with a boss who’s total jerk to the people who making this stuff. I’ve had friends who work for Tesla who says the man a nightmare
It's not a problem unless you place production above safety, ethics, quality etc.
HELLO! One of the Sine Qua None conditions for the praxis and the exercise of DEMOCRACY, is that the people are enligntened enough in order to be able to participate in the DEMOCRATIC PROCESS. The Greek understood that 450 years BC. What about the Americans?
Thank you.

I'm totally for compassionate capalitism. When I was taking business classes I learnt a lot about non-profits and how corporation's can be involved and make great changes. I dont see Elon's models as really making those changes as he thinks it's about people efficiency and not product efficiency. I was looking at reports about the space program and while he thinks manned crafts are the way to go I think that's stupid wasteful as we dont have the fuel problem solved yet. I think robotics and probes are the better investments. While he thinks replacing jobs with robot bartenders and AI used by people to be disruptive to people I think it's better used to create robots in space that build power stations and gather data and resources. Solar power on the moon or mars means we can recharge the rovers and other scouts . I was watching a story about West Africa and how their ending up with un -recycled vehicles and tech trash and the impact on the environment...Yuck! We need those materials as I watch the climate changes and it's disasters one thing is clear there is going to be TONS of trash!
