I can't help but feel its better this way cause Marinette never made her feelings clear for adrien and told him that she liked him but chat noir was always straight forward but his feelings ...also while adrien and chatnoir both had similer vibes for ladybug and marinette ,marinette didn't treat nor feel similer for chatnoir and adrien Also adrien had been sheltered his whole life so even if he can recognize his own feelings how can he do so for others so its not his fault for saying marinette is just a friend So....it just feels like she had it coming for her
They both honestly had it coming and didn’t , not just Marinette, it’s not like she could’ve accepted Chat Noir’s affections while also being in love with Adrien. She loved Chat Noir’s civilian identity at the same time that Adrien liked Marinette’s superhero identity. They both already had someone who they liked so of course neither were going to notice and accept the other’s advances. Despite not letting it be made clear to Adrien that she liked him, although why anyone would say so is a wonder with how many times she had already showed it outright, if Marinette had just let Chat Noir flirt with her and never told him that she liked someone else and had just let him continue hoping that he had a chance, then that would’ve been absolutely worst. In the end, their counterparts each fell out of love for the person who never reciprocated their love and neither could really be blamed. The very obvious fact still stands tho that they are both the most blind and oblivious people in this show.
