My house is so unorganized because I took care of my parents for the last 10 years and worked too. I have been so ashamed of my self for letting it go. Now that they passed, I spend an hour a day working on it. I don't beat myself up anymore because I prioritized my parents. Now my house is my priority and I it's slowly coming back to life. We need to be kind to ourselves.

Wow I had to put on my sunglasses with such a sparkling clean home! With a 3 hr commute per day I don't have such a schedule but do buy groceries, make all my meals, have clean clothes, and do the light cleaning and daily tidy up as needed. I feel good about that.

For us, what I do is make sure all dishes are at least soaking.
Wipe up messes.
Set up the coffee maker
Fill water bottle
Fill ice bowl,and trays
Feed cat,check his water
Clean the litter box
Check out the garbage.wash trash cans
Wipe up bathroom
Laundry as needed
Organize my books
Mend anything that needs it.
Wipe the glass
Including mirrors.
Make sure to charge cell phones.

These days, do dishes really need to soak ma'am 🤔
I just can't stand it when my wife leaves a pot or pan in the sink full of soapy water. Can't even wash my hands 🤷....
Sooooo I'll take one of those green or blue scratch pads and hand scrub the soaking dishes and stick them in the dishwasher.
It doesn't matter what's stuck in the pan or dish, I'll scrub it clean one way or another .... LoL 😂

I'm just expressing how my wife soaks dishes sometimes and how it irritates me so I scrub the dishes out myself with a scrub pad and a little elbow grease... LoL 😆 🤣

I feel that way too sometimes. I just need to concentrate on one thing without distractions. There are times that I'll put on an old movie so I don't need to concentrate on it but need the background. Hope you were successful!

I'll be 72 this year and am wondering how much longer I can climb ladders to clean the light fixtures and fans. My husband, 74, hired someone to power wash the house, driveway, walkway and sidewalk. I was shocked as he usually does that himself! He was on the roof taking down a 30 foot limb last month. We still have the flu so that may have added to the equation, lol. He's much more fit than I.
YESSSS you do as well as my wife cleaning. I don't do house cleaning or laundry.
On the other hand I just finished washing 4 Wheeler's. Polished too. Does this count money mom????

You are so right about just spending as much time as you have or feel you can deal with everyday, organizing and cleaning or, as you say, doing some exercise, can make such a difference. Doesn't feel lighter? We got new carpet in two bedrooms and the hallway. I decluttered a walk in closet, two hall closets and my bedroom! It took a lot of energy but I did it over several days. It looks fabulous! Here's to you!

Changing your flooring is a great way to declutter and organize, lol. Even if you didn't want to do it! Good for you getting it all done. I'm sure everything looks so nice and you have such a sense of accomplishment! 👍😊👍

I like your home maintenance/cleaning schedule. I've always loved organizational tools and notebooks but I never really sat down and made a schedule. I think I will draft something this weekend and give it a try. It's a bit harder when I still have way too much stuff in an 800 Sq foot home. Still working on that too. Day by day!

You sound very organized. My sister lived in a small home and I was amazed at her organizational skills, we shared a room until I moved away to college, lol. Nothing was out of place in any room, closet or drawer. She said she had to be that way because in a small house it becomes cluttered so quickly. I'm slowly decluttering but everything looks neat and tidy on the surface so I don't have a lot of incentive, lol. 😊
I love a home tour! One of the best things about you is that you're real. You show your home as you live in it. You don't stuff things in the closet for the pinterest worthy shot (not that I've ever been on pinterest). Everything is clean and organized the way you want it. Refreshing! Isn't that the truth? Our son's family came over on Mother's Day and I got sick the next day. We've both been ill since. Today I noticed a bag of toys that I hadn't put away, lol. It's like a hurricane hits the house when they're here. I wouldn't trade it for a clean house, though! 😊

Yes, I take old rags and towels and store them in a designated area for emergency plumbing issues. We had 2 this year so far. Love old towels!!!

I’ve been so so lazy..😂 my son been staying at his dads seems like almost 2 months as he house sat while his dad and partner went on holiday and then they adopted a dog 😍 so he stayed up for a couple of weeks to settle in the lovely dog 🥰 and was due home last week but they all got a flu ..not the you know what.. but none the less all were ill so he stayed there ..due home tomorrow..but my point is I sat on my behind a-lot and put my feet up 😂😂. But this week started back on the S.H.E ..sidetracked home executives system . Really works WHEN I apply it 😂 . I think to have a system of any sort helps and the other thing is put away when finished with something truly helps. Also putting the house to bed.. when it’s bedtime I quickly straighten up the pillows , tidy by put away something maybe left out and check the kitchen . I feel my home has kept me safe and warm and happy so I return the love by putting my house to bed ready for rest before a new day…always lovely to walk into a tidy living room and clean kitchen in the morning 🥰. 🇬🇧👍🏻💛🤍

I was 23 and had 2 kids in 1985. I found the book sidetracked Home Executive book at the library..I have since bought some of the books used on amazon. I raised 12 kids using that system. Now have 3 of our children ages 18 to 21, husband and I, and 3 cats. I also babysit grandkids 50 hrs a week. That is how my home is clean or at least picked up.

My husband and I have had that flu. We're on our third week, but we're old, lol. I'm glad you had a little vacation. I've heard of that system but it sounded too complicated for me. I'm not a very disciplined person, however. A system in place is helpful. Hope you don't get ill! 😊

I can still do only a sad tiny bit at a time, but I finally found a program that supplies me with a helper once a week. She helps me to get the big things I can't possibly do, done. It's helped me get the things I can do, done as much as possible, so that when she's here, she doesn't have to spend time on the things I can do. I use the fly lady system to move from room to room. I can remember it so it works for me. We also declutter as we go. I love decluttering, and I actually love cleaning, too. Not having the physical ability to do either has been a great burden--that's now slowly but surely going away! 😊

I also found another organization that sends a person once a week to help me figure out what to prioritize to do. Then she encourages me while I work on it! I still can't stand up very long, and I still go so slowly, but it's really helped me get back in the habit of getting a few things done, even if it takes me 2-3 days to get the dishes done. I'd usually get so discouraged that I wouldn't get them finished, and then the next time, there'd be that many more to do. These are terrific services that help me so much! It took a long time to find them. I'm exceedingly thankful!

I have a schedule for cleaning and decluttering, too. My husband compliments me regularly on it. I do laundry daily, but not every day. I can go two days without washing clothes. I divide my house into sections and work on it. Currently I'm working on the front porch, living room, and dining room. Next week is my kitchen. I use FlyLady's system of cleaning. Your house looks great, especially your yard! My house is a fixer upper. My husband is redoing our sidewalk and we have a mess from that. I spend about 15 minutes daily working on that. I believe every home is a work in progress.

I, too, do specific zones on specific days. It makes it so much easier to do a quality job, in much less time, with less angst. I learned this approach as part of a modified version of FlyLady as taught by Diane in Denmark. It really changed my life.

I am in a wheel chair now because my hip didn’t heal properly and I am to chicken to let them rebreak it so that hopefully it will heal properly this time. But I just think about there being so many people in the world who have it much worse than me and I realize how blessed I am. Also if it is God’s plan for me to be able to walk again, I will.
Getting ready to clean out and reorganize my big stand up freezer. 😬
I swiffer daily. We have 4 dogs and 1 cat inside. I only have one area rug and it has to get vacuumed every other day.
Kitchen is daily. Except things like the oven and microwave which doesn’t get that dirty.
I don't envy you cleaning out your freezer; but, the finished product is its own reward! 😊
As soon as I finish a book I donate it to the local library, if I am sure I won’t read it again.

I just finished watching the video 📹 today about cleaning house 🏡 on a flexible schedule. I just started deep cleaning up 👆 the house 🏡 once a month. I still do my regular house 🏡 cleaning on a flexible schedule during the week. Now I clean up the outside garbage cans after the garbage and recycling cans with Kitchen Cleaner and the hose after being picked up once a week. My outside garbage cans are at least once a week.

I’m inspired by how clean and organized your house is. We have a cleaner for the deep clean and I keep up with the daily tidy, organizing, light cleaning, and cooking. Love your organizational video. Your home is lovely and I'm jealous of your organization. I need to make a schedule. We have higher toilets too! If you're interested, take a look at Kohler's tall toilet seat. We got one recently and really like it. I am awaiting a hip replacement and I have lymphedema in my legs and feet. This toilet seat is a game changer for me because it adds like 3 or 4 inches, and you don't have to worry about it moving or slipping. Take care. Love you, Dawn!

We replaced 2 of our toilets with higher-seated models. I'm keeping my old toilet as I hate the low flow feature on the new ones.

You're doing great! Right now I do the basics and when the energy sparks or I get too sick of looking at whatever clutter, then I deal with it. I just decluttered and reorganized my kitchen cabinets. Much needed. My next stop is my kids clothes.

I can’t do laundry all in one or 2 days. There is 5 of us , 6 when my dad is with us in the Fall and Winter. Plus I can fit just 2 loads of clothes to hang on the line to dry. 😅
I like to tackle little things in the evening during commercials. (If I’m watching tv) and it challenges me. What can I accomplish in 3-4 min and also get my butt up to move around. 😂
And on a side note Dawn, I lost zero pounds in May. I’m so mad at myself. I’m hitting June hard ! My goal is 8-10 pounds less by July 4th 🥵👍🏻😊

Just a suggestion: You could buy one of those over the toilet organizers. They have all different kinds. I put my towels & washcloths & hand towels on mine. I have to fold my big towels a certain way. I set my washcloths on my hand towels. I only have 4 big towels & 4 hand towels. Quite a few washcloths. It works. We have 2 full bathrooms. Other bathrooms has towels on counter

Sometimes I leave lots of stuff for awhile and then it's overwhelming. Thankfully I'm a bit of a minimalist so that helps.

Good scheduling ideas. My home is a work in progress. I'm spending a lot of time thinking about what needs done. I hope I don't sound like a complainer, but I'm trying to get over the shock of not having my husband here anymore. Almost a year and a half and sometimes it takes too much energy to think about and other times I can think clearly and get some progress made. I want to go through all the photos of our family and each son will have his own share of the photos. But there's a lot of sons so there's a lot to go through. I count my blessings every day. Our sons are very good to me. They learned from the best. Thanks for asking. I admire your spunk and attention to detail.

Give yourself time. It hasn't been long and your routine has been shattered. Try to choose a project that you can work on in bits of time that you can easily put away. I think that will help you keep the house clean and be able to work on a project. I'm so glad your children are attentive. I'm sure they're grieving, too. It's an adjustment for everyone. Please put a lid over your toilet and put it down before every flush. Faecal matter splatters 6 feet all around with every flush so your towels and walls and all surfaces are now covered in micro droplets of poo. Yeah ignorance is bliss 😅😊.
