I have a 7cubic foot box, tuned to 32hz. Would this series work good in that box or is that too much box? The specs for the x18v3 match my box specs perfectly, but the price point is a lil steep for me right now, so I'm thinking of getting the U18 instead🤷♂️🤷♂️

Miss those zv3's I had a pair in a no wall explorer build on a ns1 pulling a 156, they was one of my favorite subs ever. Said i beat them to the point they tore on the surrounds lol.
All U, X, Z, NS, and Team subwoofers come with 4ga terminals. Its a standard 4ga though and not oversized like many car audio guys are used to with wire. There aren't any Zv5s with 8ga terminals.

Hard to compare a neo based sub against a ferrite sub. NSv4 all day long... I'd be curious to see the Gauss readings from both, that may give us a better idea of motor strength by testing Gauss on motor only.
@@Luminous.Dynamics lol for 1 yes you can as recent as june of this year locally we had 3 cube enclosures on smaller local 8 inch subs doing 138DB@22hz using a sound digital 3k not daily if course for power but on a burp yes and the enclosure was made to play lows a x8 would be a bit large for that enclosure so how come it won't do fine, thing is just this guy would not have known how low the tunning would end up and he would have lost output or not enjoyed the setup overall.
Bro when you do these tests does it matter that the subs are straight outta the box and not broken in at all? Like wouldnt a fully broken in sub be slightly louder and take more wattage???

Its output voltage. Amplifiers run on 12v DC input but put out AC voltage and current. Thats the AC voltage output from the two amps strapped together.

Doubling your power is suppose to net you a 3db gain. But there will be losses due to efficiency of everything. Very impressive for that sub to hold that kind of power. I wonder how many times you could throw 18k at it before failure occurs?
Well I was set on getting 2 X 12's but now I'm thinking about 2 U 12's, the price difference is noticeable considering they take the same wattage rms wise but what makes the X's better? If anyone can provide input I would greatly appreciated, thanks.
I wouldn't say the X is better but its different. The U will be louder for most spl installs but the X will "smash the lows" better. Not that the U won't play low. The X will just do it better. Two completely different sounds.

The sub is still good and has more in it but we topped out on power. That was just over 9kw from each 7500 @ 1.3ohm reactive. Might add more power and try again.
We've already done some sealed dB Drag legal testing but didn't get any video footage. Search the Sundown Audio Facebook page and you can find the pics & post about it.
Port frequency lets the port do most of the "work", so woofer excursion is less at that frequency. Then you can send WAY more power to the woofer at that frequency. If they did that same test 10 hz lower that woofer would have been destroyed.
This is the 18 I am considering getting to put in my Chevy Cruze........ I will be powering it with a RF 1500bd so it should be enough power seeing how these amps are underrated anyways......

ratings are just a recommendation. really u can burn most subs out under rated power if you play them constantly for long enough. and you can also play most subs over rated power if you keep it short. mechanical power handling and the frequencies being played have a role as well.
Brian Warner ya ,the meter said 101.1 when nothing was on only them talking . so the sub only made a 60 db increase....lol my orion 8's in my doors can do that .

If you want bigger terminal's for some reason why not just swap them out by yourself?

did you ever do it? your best bet is measuring everything and ordering parts from psi or lob and putting a sundown dustcap on it lol

No, there are vehicles way louder than that. Our stock cabin Terra has hit 172db. There's a few extreme vehicles doing well into the 180s.

probably wouldnt be as loud ..zv5s are meant to be loud sure,but meant for excursion as well...which might compromise it a bit ..just a guess however
Zv5 18" won't even fit in this setup. Sub is too deep for the box.
