Very helpful! Thank you! I love how you get right to it. No clutter. (And your video accurately represents the trial-and-error of getting the right drag on the feeler gauge.)
@@edfelton3262 Thank you very much for your kind comment. 👍 I know what you mean about some videos dragging on. "Just a quick video about..." Then 7 minutes into a 10 minute video they actually do something. 🤣 Another thing that annoys me is when they make out the particular job is very simple, when in fact it's fiddly as hell. All that happens then is that someone will try and do it after watching the video then feel inept because they could do it as well as the guy in the video. I started to notice the sneaky editing that cuts out the fiddly bits. I did a video where I fitted the luggage rack and you'd think doing 4 bolts would be easy, but it was a pain in the backside to line everything up, and I even had to tap out the threads to get rid of the old thread lock.
I've heard of people doing it that way, but does that not mean you have to keep going back and forward between the engine and the wheel to see when it's at tdc?
Great video. Will be a great help to other owners. I love the QR code on the cylinder head of a bike with a 70 year lineage. Embracing technology 😂 Did you make the leap to editing on a computer rather than phone?
No, not yet, I'm using a Samsung tablet now. It works faster than my phone and I'm used to the youcut app now, so it doesn't take long to knock a video up. Yeah, QR codes on an Enfield!! 🤣🤣🤣 Maybe I should scan it to see what it's all about. 🤔 I reckon I should get a QR code printed on a t-shirt and if someone sneakily scans it it just comes up with "nosey bugger" on their phone! 🤣
Awesome Dougie.. I like your take on things.. All in "good time" have you any alternatives to the 17 tool you used to get top dead centre.. Mine won't fit.. Thanks
I'm assuming your 17mm socket is a normal sized short one? If so, you can use an extension bar that fits between the ratchet and the socket. Most socket sets have long and short extension bars. Alternatively, you could easily get a long 17mm socket. Is your ratchet 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" drive?
Many thanks for your positive comment about my video style. 👍 I'm always worried that I come across as a blithering idiot when I compare myself to other similar channels. A lot of other channels are very clever when it comes to their editing. You can see the point when they're just about to start struggling, then there's a slick edit missing that bit out. If I do that, I let my viewers know that it's a bugger of a job and I'm just cutting it down a bit to save time.

Hi Dougie looks easier than I thought it would be good job done 👍👍
It's not a hard job. I was surprised how easy it was as well.
Very helpful video. What a nice simple engine.
Very informative thanks 🙏
Personally I just put it in 5th gear and turn it using the rear wheel 😊

@@the.just.able.biker67 it does if you are alone, however I generally do the service with my son, so it's easier 👍🏻

Oh aye, Derek from Solo Moto UK was well chuffed that you recognized him and stopped for a wee chat.
👍😁
