I was at a party once on a couch making out with someone while this episode played in the backround. I tried to stifle my laughter once too many times and ended up blowing snot on her face. Thanks, MST3K!
Just passing through to pay tribute to one of the founders of rock and roll via my favorite TV show ever. Thanks for everything, Little Richard. You were enjoyed.
The same actress, Ulla Strömstedt, played a repeating character on Flipper as a marine biologist and possible love interest to the dreamy Brian Keith. It turns out that Tom Servo was wrong. She was Swedish. Unfortunately our creepy girl passed away in 1986 at the young age of 46.
Tommy Kirk showed why he was a top leading man in this fun whimsical caper that holds your attention and keeps you laughing as well. This is an exceptionally fun, madcap movie.
Still my favorite. One of Joel's greatest moments begins at 24:25. This still makes me lose it. Plus "The Nazi Party" and Tom Servo's flailing "arms" while dancing is always a great sight. RIP Creepy Girl.
Sometimes I get tired of the obvious overdubbing in old movies, but then I rewatch this movie with its constantly wind-tainted audio and I count my blessings.
On the subject of the animated opening, it's kind of interesting how there seemed to have been two dominant art styles of the 1960s: they are either in the style of the Pink Panther openings or they look like Yogi Bear.
John Smith Oh, it is. If only the commercials were animated and were done really well, well enough not to be shown on TV! I just think there needs to be more exclusive ads shown in cinemas.
If you go to Google maps street view and find 163 Crescent Ave, Avalon, CA 90704, you can see the boardwalk area that they filmed the chase / fight scene towards the end of the film. The building with the round font visible in some of the shots is the current day spa. Most of the other buildings look like they have changed quit a bit.
The animations and Little Richard were the only talent in the movie (Tom Servo singing creepy girl is also a classic but it’s not actually in the movie so I can’t count it as being in the movie).
Whoever (not in credits) did these titles, might be the same one who did "Pink Panther" film credits, among others... And the distinctive 'mark' they use, ought to be credited.
24:39 I notice that in the Joel era there were times he and Crow seemed genuinely annoyed with each other like this. Crow even gives Joel a dirty look. 🤣
With the way Joel talked about growing up in the 60's; I wonder if I'll vapor lock like he did when I tell people what it was like growing up in the 90's.
+shenloken2 I still love that quip about making 'playground equipment out of stainless steel, and haul it up onto asphalt.' That stuff was on the playgrounds during my childhood in the 1980's. Scraped ankles, burnt legs, etc were what our parents had to deal with during the Reagan era.

16:00 "I can't help whatever it is I do to him!" Little Richard! (Prince?) ... "Hmmm, I think I know a bright young singer that's Hopped-Up on Goofballs right now!" LOL
Ah, the sixties, when random pop stars show up in weird places they'd never go on their own, and sing songs about things they'd never do. Good times, good times.
We just lost Lyle Wagoner, I just watched the 1st Exidor episode of Mork & Mindy yesterday, and it's (would be) Spring Break week. Perfect time to watch this one.
The only reason people watched the movie besides Little Richard was this bad ass band at 49:20 everyone loved them but were to embarrassed to admit ... and lives were scarred
So I read an appreciation of Little Richard (RIP), and remembered to remark here about how mild his performance seemed to be in this movie, and when they say "hopped up on goofballs", that would be as good an explanation as any for that.
Little Richard was a supernaturally talented singer and composer. If you ever feel like breaking your own heart, look up his earliest albums, when he was still gospel. His voice is . . . Soul shatteringly beautiful.
1) Little Richard is the only black person in the entire movie. 2) As Joel & the 'Bots rightly pointed out, he also happens to be the only real talent in the entire movie. Life's funny that way, huh?
Creepy girl is from sweden, naturally blonde, and died at 46 in 1986. Not much information on her other than that. Her name was Ulla Stromstedt. Very pretty. They don't even say why she died young.

I recall the days of 10 minute videos. Thank you for posting these classics.
I love this experiment. One of my all time favorites. The line “I didn’t know you were holding, my compadre” remains one of my favorite jokes.

Rest In Peace Tommy Kirk, Thursday, September 30, 2021.
September 28, 2021?
Just passing through to pay tribute to one of the founders of rock and roll via my favorite TV show ever. Thanks for everything, Little Richard. You were enjoyed.
And he was hoped up on goofballs
Love the "Creepy Girl" song, lol.
45:00 for reference

"Wow these Klan meetings have REALLY lightened up, lookie that.."
I spat out my coffee all over the screen
51:20 "I think they sent the wrong people to Nam Joel." Best riff in the movie!
Hilarious !! " look at those stupid legs there stupid looking, their not real at all " this whole episode makes me piss my pants with laughter !!
Ahhh, I see The Venture Bros. did NOT invent the concept for Tank Top(s)! The Mads had them beat by about 15 years. :-D
This seems like a great movie to watch with drunk friends.
And this is one of the best episodes of the show in my opinion.
One of the show's best episodes hands down
Testify! Definitely makes the top 5 for me
Good to hear, viewers from the past. Thanks! Maybe no SciFi, but I can live with that! Once..👩🦳💭
It looks like it was a blast to shoot. tons of attractive people, groovy psychedelics, and a free little richard performance.
Tommy Kirk passed away yesterday may he Rest In Peace
Tom Servo and Creepy Girl, a better love story than Twilight
Apparently the actress who played Creepy Girl died when she was only 46, what a bummer
ToruKun1 Tom servo's song about her is classic and kick ass!
And Fifty Shades!
I think creepy girl is also in Conman's Viking women movie. Right?
Tom Servo: She died at 46 in '86? *NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!* WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE LET ME GO WITH HER?! WHY?!
What happened to the chick who sang "Book of Love"?
@14:43 "Hey... Nice railing." That had me in stitches! 😂
Whenever I have a random celebrity crush, I wonder what my "Creepy Girl" ode to them would be. Haha! Tom Servo is the greatest!
I laugh at "hey look I'm 60" every damn time
One of the best Mst3k Creepy girl is one of the funniest segments ever!
All white people movie. Funny and great music. I hate impressionists.
My husband loves Tom Servo, he sings Creepy Girl to me all the time. The best.
I had forgotten just how zombified Little Richard looked in his scene. 'Hopped up on goofballs' indeed.
Think he's so hopped up - he things he's at the Apollo or something :)
I wouldn't want to remember being in this movie either
@@Freenorg5 Amen. I sure wouldn't.

At 23:12 ~ they riff on the chant used in "The Dirty Dozen" (!) and that was wicked! 😜⭐🤣

On the subject of the animated opening, it's kind of interesting how there seemed to have been two dominant art styles of the 1960s: they are either in the style of the Pink Panther openings or they look like Yogi Bear.
+DinosaurFan88 This one had more of a Rocky & Bullwinkle look to it.
I'm more amused it's from the same studio that later gave us Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
back then they would show a cartoon before the movie. Today they show a commercial. Sad.
John Smith Oh, it is. If only the commercials were animated and were done really well, well enough not to be shown on TV! I just think there needs to be more exclusive ads shown in cinemas.
Those animated intros always scammed me as a kid. I'd be expecting some cartoon and be disappointed when it would turn live action.

Then Crow is about to ask "did you just say fuck?" but then he realizes the joke.
I love it.
😂
Definitely one of the most underrated episodes of MST3K. It's in my top three with "Manos" and "Sidehackers."
Sidehackers is the best.
No Eegah?
I liked Sidehackers, but its one of the more depressing movies they ever did
Top three for me... catalina caper. Giant spider invasion. Hobgoblins.
I'm particular to Space Mutiny, Devil Fish, and especially... Mitchell and Final Justice! LOL (Keep on Riffing boyos!)
RIP Tommy Kirk⚘
Thank you for sharing yourself with us.
i like how whenever there's music playing in the BG, Tom Servo's always dancing.
Glad Joel was wearing the red jumpsuit in this episode. He looks better in red than blue.
Probably my all-time favorite MST3K episode, thank you for uploading kind soul
"What are we diving for?"/"That's none of your business."
Joel: Then how will we know when we've found it?
I do love a good logical riff
When I take the Catalina Express, there's a lot more vomit and children and a whole less Little Richard and dancing.
My Top 5 MST3K's! That Little Richard bit NEVER gets old!
Awwwwwww, Tom Servo singing just warms my heart :3
RIP Tommy Kirk
Note: Joel and the bots are always very kind to the animators of every cartoon opening and ending credits sequence. How classy!
The animations and Little Richard were the only talent in the movie (Tom Servo singing creepy girl is also a classic but it’s not actually in the movie so I can’t count it as being in the movie).
