WHAT DID WE CATCH ON THE SKERRIES BANKS???

- The infamous Skerries banks on the south coast of Devon is one of my absolute favourite venues to fish. The variety of species and tranquility of drifting for miles is a different world to what I am used to.
On this trip I join David Mordecai aboard his Quicksilver pilothouse 675, Gadget. We could not of wished for better weather in January and with a neap tide on our side the fishing was productive.
Great day for it by the looks of it and what a stunning Gurnard. I've had the pleasure of fishing with Dave on his boat as well top bloke and vessel 👍
Another great video Oban! And a very very nice boat to fish on!
Fine video mate. You’ll have to introduce me to Dave, his boat looks too nice and clean. I’ll have to help him rub some mackerel scales up and down it. 😉 Beautiful Tub and a lovely Plaice. 👌🏻🎣👍🏻
Cheers John, Gadget is a fine vessel and Dave does a proper job of keeping her clean with an epic concoction of cleaning and polishing potions 👌
A clean boat is a safe boat! I dont mind a bit of mess but the boat is always left the same as when we get on.
Them the rules!
That’s a great gurnard, good eating too! I’ll be down slapton this summer and I’m looking forward to getting out on the kayak….
Cracking day and cracking boat too 👍🐟
Great vid Oban, i thought you were up to something talking to yourself alot!
Awesome winter fishing Oban, great boat and a good mix of fish. Got a bit behind with UA-cam, so catching up. Stay safe & well! 🎣🎣👍👍
Great video Oban, lovely day out by the looks of it 🎣👍
Cracking trip, lovely day and some great fish. Doesn’t get any better 🎣🐟
Some boat that! And some Gurnard too!
Great stuff as always mate
That was a specimen gurnard, nice one mate, great video thanks 🙏🐟🌿🌳
Great watch but can't bet the sib videos 🎣🎣🦈🎣
Great Vid Oban, and that Gurnard! superb! :D
Nice one Oban 😙
Interesting see how you fish on the other side of the world. We catch Gurnard too. Underated fish here, most people target Snapper and Kingfish they are a lot bigger and way harder fighting fish. But the humble Gurnard and Kahawai are always a good stand by for us on the North Island west coast of New Zealand and the Red Gurnard are bloody good eating.
We dont have the pelagic fish that you have close to our shores but we normally have a fantastic sport with the wreck fishing and also the big game fishing for sharks and tuna.
Im jealous of your location!
I agree. Massively underrated are the gurnard. Loving the videos Oban!!! 🎣🐟🐠🐡🍤🎏💪💪💪💪💪🍄
They were class fish
Everyone one has a mate Dave!
150bhp 2 stroke I bet that used some fuel pushing that boat along. Lovely Vessel Though
Roughly 30-35 ltrs per hour at 24knts cruise. Slightly more expensive now we have to avoid the dreaded E10 fuel.
30miles out wrecking on bunk fuel is not an option i would take.
Oban where are you and fishing vlogs? Hope your safe bro 😎
Am I right in thinking I saw you at the boat show live in Birmingham on Saturday?
You were talking to a guy on the honwave stand, was it it you?
If so I’m sorry I didn’t say hi but you looked like you were deep in conversation and I didn’t want to interrupt!!!
I’m looking to do some fishing on my sib this year. I’m a complete beginner and I’m just gonna take some tackle and give it a go. I’m hoping to ask my viewers for hints tips and advice and learn as we make our films. You’ll have to give us a watch and see how we get on!!!😁
I was at the show on Saturday and did spend a bit of time at the Honwave stand! You'll have a great time fishing from your SIB. My advice would be to start light with lures and get to as many spots as you can.
Thanks for replying 😁
We are so looking forward to this season in the boat. Must say I’m a bit nervous about letting my son loose with hooks in an inflatable but we’re gonna give it a go!
Another great video Oban, Will we be seeing more of you out on the Quicksilver?
🤞
