@CarlD2 After Clint got rid of Niki in Feb. 1986, I think the writers attempted to illustrate for awhile that Viki and Niki had integrated into one person. OLTL had such great success with the Niki/Viki story that they probably wanted to keep it going in some way. Through most of 1986, there appeared to be some instances when Viki was definitely behaving more like Niki. But, in Dec. 1986, the writers seemed to abandon portraying Viki that way after she developed amnesia caused by an aneurysm.
I'm glad you said that, because after every time Viki had a moment when Niki took over, all the way to when Jean and Princess were revealed as well, Viki became stronger and more complete after she returned to herself. Once she was in control of her DID, she retained the best features of all of her alters, I spent many a heat wave and snowstorm watching OLTL with my Mom and Grandma, LOL.❤️
I KNEW there was a reason my internet was working fastisher!! Maria must be somewhere in these clips. My internet connection is terrified of Maria, or her spirit. She makes my road runner run!!!!!!! I''m at 20 secs and Tina's outfit is... AWESOME!
@soapfave06 It's a shame they got rid of him -- having a black villain on the canvas at this time would have made some really interesting conflicts, especially if Ed Hall was in the story too. They could have even brought him back later on for a story with RJ.
Nothing against Jeffrey Byron, but, IMO, none of the Richard recasts seemed to capture the bumbling yet endearing quality that Luke Reilly (the original Richard) brought to the role. OLTL has usually had great success with recasting characters, but not with Richard, despite three attempts. Fortunately, the Richard/Tina/Cord triangle didn't last very long since she obviously belonged with Cord and because it seemed kinda weird for Tina to be romantically involved with her cousin.
@CarlD2 Luke Reilly played Richard from 1977-78; of all the actors who played Richard, I think Luke played him the longest. His story primarily revolved around Becky Lee and getting her away from her evil husband, Luke Jackson. Eventually, Richard and Becky Lee got married and left Llanview; I think both actors were fired at that point. The characters returned about a year later with different actors in the roles.
Okay, I am only at five minutes so I'm PREDICTING Maria Roberts is NOT in this INCREDIBLE clip. I am ALSO a victim of Maria Roberts! It is real, people. It's a good thing. But THIS is worth the wait. VICK! Thanks! This is so great because most people have a reference point for other soaps, but most people didn't TALK about OLTL, they WATCHED it! These scenes are so soaperfect. Even though they were back burner characters, there is still that... yo no se...
When did Viki and Tina become close, because Viki here still does not like Tina so this must be right after the court hearing over Llanfair where Tina lost? Durign Viki's delivery, her and Tina were close already, so what triggered them to bond?
@soapfave06 I don't know why both shows write Amber as the Dick Clark of daytime (the oldest living teenager). I do look forward to seeing Andrea again though.
@soapfave06 Yeah, I still haven't figured out the racetrack stuff from the clip. I'm still stuck on that black character apparently embroiled in an entire story and I swear this was his only episode! I'll watch again. Tina's hair was at it's absolute biggest! It seems the richer she got, the more hairspray she bought! To each her own, I guess!
@CarlD2 Gwen was played by Joan Copeland. I didn't see much of Gwen, but I do recall that she was a total snob. It seemed like OLTL never found the right Richard recast, so the show apparently decided to stop trying. But who knows? Maybe Richard will come back someday. Yeah, it is odd that Todd is Viki's only Lord relative. As for Tina, my guess is that she'll stay gone only until Andrea Evans agrees to come back, if ever.
@netguy02 Who played Gwen? I think it was a huge missed opportunity to not bring them back for Viki's '95 MPD meltdown, or for later on, to give Viki more story. It's just odd that her only relative is now Todd. Even Tina no longer exists.
@shrinefilms1 Since Richard was off the show for 5 years before Jeffrey Byron took over the part, he would have had plenty of time to turn into a psycho off-screen. It might have been a bit far-fetched, but it would probably have been more interesting than what actually happened to him. Richard and Viki were cousins because his mother and her father were siblings. Richard's mother, Gwendolyn Abbott, was the sister of Viki's late father, Victor Lord. Gwen was on OLTL from 1978-79.
@netguy02 Thanks. I guess I can see why they did that, because her behavior here doesn't sit right, but I really wish they had committed to the idea of Viki changing. They have sort of hinted at that at other times, like her being a pool shark in 1996 (they should've mentioned that when Natalie became one). Viki became so much weaker and more passive around 1995 onwards -- it got really bad for a long time. At least now she seems to have a little more fire again. I still miss 80s Viki though.
Is it me or is Viki behaving very oddly in this clip? She is not very reserved, she's oddly aggressive, and at times exhibits some weird psychological prowess (immediately sniffing out Tina/Cord based on body language). It's like Jean and Niki all in one. I also don't care for Tina's hair here. The entire getup is strangely matronly.
This is when I first started watching . RIGHT when Tina decided Cord was a better husband choice. It was a GREAT 5 years or so. Show went downhill with that terrible NEW theme song with the FLUTE music and the curtains blowing and shadowy faceless people getting ready for bed. And the ugly NEW OLTL logo. Just awful. And like other have said -- it became The Todd Manning Hour. One full hour of Snoopy-face TODD MANNING ! "Cause we've only got ONE LIFE TO LEAVE "
@netguy02 I liked them as a couple, but I didn't know all that! Now, Richard seems kinda weird... but, when I was first watching this, I was thinking, "I would have believed it more if Richard became a psycho then Patrick London." hmmmm.... I'm just tellin' you the thought that popped into my head! Was Richard Viki's cousin on her mom, Virginia's side? No, he wasn't was he? Yeah, he's weird. I wish HE would have came BACK instead of Patrick London, knew Kate, became psycho.
i wish I could binge this show all over again as an adult.
Poor Richard
Corderro. So fine.
For us women
As a gay guy ; I wish all his scenes were topless. @@valentinakythas7504

Remember when Cord had a CAREER ? LOL . That lasted a whole 2 months.
Richard and Tina are first cousins. Kinda weird the writers made them a couple.
EXACTLY! Nobody in the family ever complained about this!
To be fair though, Larry and Karen Wolek were cousins too. But I think they were what they called "Kissing Cousins"?
They should have made him a Randolph, via Viki's mother's side.

@netguy02 Joan Copeland. I wish I could see this. I've heard about how fantastic she was on Search for Tomorrow.

@soapfave06 Oh, Andrea is going to be on B&B? I will have to sit through that show to see her.
When did Viki and Tina become close, because Viki here still does not like Tina so this must be right after the court hearing over Llanfair where Tina lost? Durign Viki's delivery, her and Tina were close already, so what triggered them to bond?
I think it was them teaming up to rescue Joy O'Neill from Mitch's cult.
I thought it was a COP OUT for Vicki and Tina to like each other. @@paulmartin7705
