    Thanks for posting all these helpful videos. I've learned a lot watching them. And, yes, YJs can be a BIG pain especially if they're like mine and rusted everywhere!! And I mean every single bolt haha. But I wouldn't trade it for anything. Thanks again, man!

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  7 років тому +1

      Your welcome! I understand about rusted bolts. When replaced the passenger side windshield hinge. I twisted 2 of those Torx screws off inside the insert. I had to drill and tap new threads. That was before I started the UA-cam channel. I really wish I had started the channel when I first got the Jeep. That YJ was a junk basket case! I could have documented the rebirth of a YJ that was really better off as a parts Jeep. I had to save her, and wouldn't give her up for anything.

    I've found that these YJ's are just a pain in the ass all the way around lol. Wouldn't trade it for the world though. It took me almost a week to drop the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump assembly, the fuel tank vent valves, and all the fuel lines.

      They very well can be! I wouldn't part with mine for anything! As a matter of fact, I'd like to have another one .. lol. Overall, compared to many other cars I've worked on, Yjs are fairly simplistic. But, when they wanna be a pain. It's a real pain! Thanks for dropping in! Thanks for taking the time to leave a great comment! Have a great day!

    Also invest in a set of offset line wrenches and you dont have to pull the pulley to lock the base of the line. Crows foot ratchets sometimes can get in there

    Wonder if a 91 would mount to my 88? Mine has the can attached. But mounting an external would be easy. The replacements for mine are 300 and up for a good one.

    Great videos! I'm working on a problem on a 1995 jeep wrangler yj 4 cylinder. The issue I'm seeing is the voltage gauge in the driver's seat fluctuates back and forth from 14 volts to 12 volts. It never done that before. In a week I planned to remove alternator and have it checked. The battery has been checked. It's ok. Do you have an idea of why the voltage gauge fluctuates from almost 14 and drops approximately 12 volts?Your videos has helped me with restoration of this 95. Walter.

      Your welcome, glad you like the videos. Assuming yours are missing? I looked around on the most popular places for Jeep parts. I didnt see any available. May wanna check ebay for a used set. The only other option may be to have a set made. They are a fairly simple design so any competent welder/fabricator should easily make a set.

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  9 місяців тому +1

      Honestly that s kinda rare to not have power steering. So with that being said, all my rigs came with power steering. I know of 2 other YJs that are local to me that have power steering. If I had one without I'd without a doubt install it. So with that being said, I don't know the difference in the brackets that were used. I can recommend finding another YJ to look at the difference of the hard ware mounted to the front of the engine. Take a picture to use for reference. Sorry I couldn't help more.

    Hi....another question for you (sorry to bug you)...my YJ has 3/4 ton chevy axles (8 lug) and I am still working on it so haven't driven it yet...i'm wondering if the stock YJ power steering box will work ok pulling/pushing the larger/heavier spindles, brakes and the 37" tires?

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  7 років тому

      I've got a set of axles out of a 79 4/4 ton chevy I'm holding for that exact same build. Eventually, I'll come across another YJ cheap. The build will begin!! What I've heard of most people using is a steering box from a Durango. Supposed to be pretty much a bolt in. I haven't physically swapped in a Durango box so I personally can't confirm. I'm jealous ... I wanna start that build! I've got a mild 4 - bolt 355 smal block sitting on an engine stand just waiting for a YJ of the right price :-) . Good luck and have fun with that build! Have a great day!

      Cool....yes mine has a SBC 350 with a 4 speed manual trans and a twin stick transfer case. I got the jeep with the latter in it from a younger guy but there was no trans mount and he installed the V8 way to high up,,,plus he didn't widen the leaf spring perches (mine needed another 1/2" each side) on the front and he just pinched them on the stock perches lol so I had to re-do everything he did plus made a trans support. I bought a Griffin aluminum radiator and found a pair (set) of electric fans to push the air from Pick-n-pull and the shroud that was with those fans fit perfect over the radiator with minor mods. So far the most expensive parts have been the 2 drive shafts ($666.73) so am hoping the tranny and transfer case are good. I finally got the motor started (had no carb or distributor etc, etc,) and it runs great...no smoke, great oil pressure...it looked real clean when I had the intake and valve covers and oil pan off. I installed a new rear main seal while I was down there lol. The front axle needed new bearings, calipers and pads and the rotors turned, a new high-steer arm and the hub machined for the 3 bolts, a new rod and rod-ends...shall I continue? lol needless to say this project has been long (a year so far)....

    • @coherantbliss3483
      @coherantbliss3483 7 років тому

      As far as the wiring goes....from the stock jeep to chevy ...it wasn't that bad at all. I was able to hook-up all the stock gauges to the chevy 350 using a stock jeep sending unit for the water temp and oil pressure gauges...I just had to get adapters for them to screw into the chevy intake and the block from the local hardware store. I got a kit for the clutch. It came with a bracket, the slave cylinder and the hose with fittings. I had to swap the clutch arm too. It has been a learning experience for sure....and patience. I've built 2 streetrods from raw materials so yes I must have patience lol...Or i'm a glutton for punishment geeze.
      peace

      I didn't think the jeep/chevy swap would be too bad, haven't done it yet. I looked at a YJ early this summer that was a 4cyl that had had a very rough life but the tub and frame were still solid. Leaves were bent pretty bad which is fine, gives me a reason to do a suspension stretch. They decided to keep and fix it .. I was like BUMMER!! I could have gotten it cheap! I've had / built a few old muscle cars. Ford: 67, 68 and a 68 convertible Mustangs. I still have my '84 GT T-Top Mustang. GM: 1988 GMC S15 with a very build 355 small block & TH350 (factory 4cyl truck .. out came the 4 in went the 8). 79 3/4 ton Chevy, 72 Olds Cutlass 350/TH400. Mopar: 1974 Dodge Charger with a 440 that I built, it was pulled from a New Yorker. The 440 was strong enough to gut 3 727 Torqueflight transmissions. That big heavy boat would run!! Built a 32 3 window Ford coupe for a guy, it was an old Street Beats fiberglass kit that had been sitting someone's garage for years before he bought it. The fiberglass body was warped, the interior metal frame structure wasn't cut correctly. I was so glad to finish that thing and get it gone!! I'm really itching bad to build a rat rod!! We just like punishing our selves to create life size model cars :-)

      wow you been a busy man for sure....still have the mopar? i bet that's the cats meow to drive...
      i picked up the blower fan pm102 today...i believe it is the 91 wrangler blower...i looked/compared it with a 76 chevy blower ...the chevy had longer shaft. the pm102 blower has a much heavier and larger motor like you said. cut the firewall hole larger and will be reinstalling the box tomorrow. i had to fix some cracks and a large hole in the case otherwise it would have been installed today. the core was bad bad bad so good thing i pulled the box. i live near olympia and wish you lived closer i'd come over and help you on your future rat rod...would get me out of my shop lol. i think it's commendable of you to take the time to do these videos....good job

    I need your help. Power steering fluid leaking from bottom of line. Here's a link to my video. ua-cam.com/video/NruK85B1btw/v-deo.html
    I actually cleaned everything off yesterday to see where it was coming from. I'm pretty sure I need to just replace my ps pump. It went out fast and pump is now clanging and clunking. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  6 років тому

      I didn't see your UA-cam comment come through with the rest of them. The video link you added made your comment go into the "Needs reviewed" area. Soooo .. I just happened to look to see if anything was there. From what you describe and watching the video, it looks like the front shaft seal went. That is the most common point of failure when you see fluid. So .. long story short. Yep, you need a new pump. I hope yours goes much easier than mine did. It is typically a very easy swap. Mine was one of those very rare occasions where everything was stuck and being cranky! Go ahead and buy a new pulley while you are at it. If you don't need it you can take it back. If you break your original one you will be glad you got the new one ahead of time. Hope your swap goes well!! You need help feel free to ask. Have a great day!!
