Plot twist: Baelin is always fishing because he knew about the frogmen. He's trying to protect Honeywood, he just doesn't have the words to express it. He's the hero we deserve but not the one we need right now.

My band of adventures were at a banquet and a server came up to our table to offer and he was all human except for the head, which was a horses head.
Like a minatour but but equine.
There's a name for the creature for the species but I forget what it is.
Anyways, long story a little bit longer; I turn to see the DM holding up the book of creatures too give us an idea of what we're seeing and the first words out of my mouth was "Why the long face, Buttercup?".

After watching baelins route I have full confidence baelin is more than capable of taking care of himself
I love level 1 combat, it’s hilarious. It’s like slap fighting.
I almost never allow level one characters for this reason, and also because i want to give people a chance to differentiate their characters even if they are the same class. The difference between the archer fighter and the swordsman fighter at lvl 1 is barely more than "owns a bow."
I routinely start at lvl 3, and sometimes higher.
@@speldrong5010 I totally agree. My system doesn't use level or class based progression, but I run it with the same philosophy of making sure all PCs start with enough build points to be both capable at their concept and unique from each other.
Except the enemy slaps much harder than you. xD Two times I got downed in a level 1 combat, once by angry deer and the other time by some puny skeletons.
@@speldrong5010 my opinion has always been that in a d&d class and level system, nobody should be hitting adulthood still at level one. I think you're gonna hit level two sometime around puberty, and then level three sometime around their eighteenth or nineteenth birthday.
Of course, the problem you run into with this, that d&d has always had when you're an overanalyzer like me, is that races who live for much longer than humans don't make any sense in the class and level system. How come a fifty year old dwarf, a twenty year old human, and a two hundred year old elf are all at the same level? What's that elf been doing for the last 199 years?

Rob is an amazing DM. Not even considering how well he rolls with their chaotic comedy without losing the thread, just look at his face when he imitates a frogman staring at Greg, and his stabbing movements when the non-adventurers attack. He's having so much fun with it. And that's just this episode, I mean in others he does amazing accents and stuff as well. Truly, a fantastic DM.

I'm actually happy they confirmed that, because last week I got to thinking that Baelin and Bodger were twins, but that they came out with completely different personalities.
John Patrick the half-brothers thing makes sense. The plot twist I expect: we will one day learn that Baelin’s Int is off the chart. That’s the difference between him and Bodger.
Why did I think Baelin would be a Tom Bombadil type character? Astronomically powerful in his own demesne but too cheerfully inconsequential to worry or care to defeat the forces of evil.

This DM having to keep these maniacs under control, is the greatest effort of these episodes.
It's fun watching them get so excited and ADD and he keeps his calm demeanor and continues telling the events bringing them back into focus.

Rewatching these is almost MORE fun than the first time around! So wild to see Ben rolling high for attacks (but not damage) and Bodger weirdly doing almost nothing. I guess restraining the Tank is a good move!

Cant believe Greg forgot to pick up his executioners axe out of his house... would be a cool concept to have a second personality with all the things he has witnessed maidens killed in front of him, a troll he made friends with... also killed in front of him, but most impressive thing he did. Resisting the programming to kill someone for kicking a chicken.
