Sound Design with Polyend Dreadbox Medusa (Ep.4) - Lush Pads
Вставка

- In this episode, we see an example of how we can create a rich-sounding pad sound with the Medusa and the things we can do to make it as lush and wide as possible. At the music demo section, I also demonstrate how I use two Medusas to play in realtime this pad sound in stereo.
Let me know if you found this video helpful or if you have any questions.
Stay tuned for the next videos where we will take advantage of the FM feature of the Medusa to create drones and other interesting sounds.
Thanks for watching, and take care!

The "chorus trick" is a good idea! Great.
Thank you guys for your comments. It's a good motivation for me to make more of these videos ❤👍
Thank YOU! This was one of my first two synths I bought about 6 months ago and the learning curve threw me for a loop. A lot of people were bad-mouthing the Medusa, but I could tell she had great potential and you not only proved that but really helped to demonstrate how to use this synth properly to us beginners. You are a HERO!!
@@johncaccioppo1142 Thank you very much!
Genius 👏🏾👏🏾
This is incredible
Great tutorial. Just love my Medusa after creating this patch!
I seem to gravitate toward pad sounds on any synth. The first thing I want to do with a monosynth is feed it through some reverb and delay and make a pad or drone. I learned some good tips here on making Medusa pads more interesting. Thanks, Miltos! I'm looking forward to the FM video. Sidenote: I really enjoy your sound design. Every musician brings their own personality to the sounds they create and to the instrument they're playing. I like what you bring!
Thank you Kyle, I am also a fan of this type of atmospheric sounds so in most cases I find my sounds more complete with the addition of some reverb delay, etc. It depends of course on the musical context every time. Until now the sounds I demonstrate are quite simple but with the use of FM we are going to have some more interesting timbres, so I also look forward to making these videos.
Another stunner! Thanks again for doing these!
Such an amazing video 😍 very helpful, thank you so much !
This is amazing and so helpful. Thank you.
thank you again!!! these are amazing and to the point. so so so useful!!
WOOOOW, I love your tutorials for the Medusa. It really trips me up as a beginner, it does not work like the other subtractive synths I used. Or to be more exact, it does give the results I expect when I tweak it. Your tutorials really make it so much clearer.
BUT, I have a burning question: do you have a tutorial for the sound that shows up at 7:40 in the top right corner of your video? It’s a sound I have been dying to recreate but I don’t even know what it’s called. I would love to use the Medusa to build it but I have no clue where to start. :S
At any rate, thanks a ton for sharing those immensely useful videos :)
The medusa video serie is really cool, i wait the next one !
Thx ;)
yes yes finally, a musician teaching and playing the Medusa . thanks very much
Thank you Henry, I am glad you find the videos helpful.
Awsome and clever as usual 👍
Hi Miltos,
I really enjoy your medusa series!! The sounds you get from this nice synth make me want to play it :D
Please keep the good work up, I think your videos are very simple but clear. I also enjoy no talking in the vids so i can just listen to the sound aswell. Big fan
Thank you, glad you enjoy them! There will be more videos for sure 👍
Great stuff!

You're welcome!!

You're a lifesaver.
Cool! very inspiring
@devontodetroit Sorry, not sure if I'm getting what you are saying. I'm not being sarcastic, I really like these videos and feel very inspired to go play my medusa after watching!
Thx very much 🙏🏻🌈. Great Tutorial 😃👍🏻🕊🌈🌿
I have two units too. Did you find any cool things one can two with both together?
This things is fun to program, no doubt...
To be honest I love the sound at 3:13 more!
Great, you can, of course, fine-tune the sound to your liking 👍
@@miltosschimatariotis3906 Of course. The final patch it also an amazing pad - I really need to get my hands on one of these. All the best to you!
I would love to see some of how using different scales for leads looks. I can't find any videos with that aspect
Noted! Maybe I 'll have an example like that in a future video, thanks!
@@miltosschimatariotis3906 cool, and thanks for the content so far!
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
This is so great. Nicely done! Do you prefer the new LE version?
Thanks! I like both 😊. Maybe the new one a bit more but there are just different design styles.
Nice! May I ask what the name of this font is?
Gorgeous sound, and great tutorial. My only complaint is that you might force me to buy yet another synth... 🎛🙌🏻 💳🥊
Haha, thanks!! 🔥
Can u control external synths with it like in a Chord mode?
Yes, you can control anything that accepts MIDI 👍
How can I get a program init, you know, with nothing set so you can build from scratch? Appreciate any help.
To start from an init state I just use one of the available init patches from Bank B. Just make sure to have one available (for example B64) or you can reload Bank B with the Medusa tool if needed.
@@miltosschimatariotis3906 thanks a ton.
Great stuff!
