A tutorial on how to twist (or coil) your own hair. I like this style much better than comb twists, simply because they look more textured and less uniform. This way, you can wear them longer without them looking old and fuzzy and unkept.
The Aunt Jackie's Flaxseed gel DOES dry with a cast (hard), but if you wrap your hair at night and sleep on it, by the morning the cast is gone and your hair is soft again. No flakes. No ashiness.

My hair already got twisted but I was looking for a good twisting video and I will recommend this to all my friends.
Ayyy that’s what’s up! I hope it helps 👌🏽
Anytime! Lol
does the magic maker still respond after 2years
How long you ben growing your hair
You just did me a massive favor! I got my hair twisted a few days ago and I ended up messing it up that night because I ended up squishing them down. So after seeing this video I went to go try it out on one of my coils and it was a success. I'm actually shocked at how easy it is to twist your own hair. I tried doing it years ago and it never worked. Turns out all I was missing was some gel lol
Needed this comment!
corona got me here lmaoo
I guess it’s good for something! Lol

I was supposed to get mine done but the barber shop closed now I got a lot of hair
Same 😂😂
One of the best finger coil teachers on the plant. 🙌
That first twist made me wanna ask u 2 twist mine
No

I wish I knew. Sorry :/

OMG, I know this is an old video but thank you so much on explaining step by step what you did what you used, etc. That really helps. Thanks again cause we still natural out here in 2023.
You’re so welcome! Happy to help 🧡
This is helpful. I’ve been thinking about twisting my son’s hair. His is styled pretty much like your before style. His hair is just a little kinkier. I’ll be trying this on him soon. Hopefully I have the patience to do it. Lol.
My hair growin like crazy while on lockdown so might as well do something with it
On lockdown ?
@@azopytee2525 yeah sum states were on lockdown during corona lol
I needed this, I'm starting my own 2nd set of locs. I won't be able to do the comb coils by myself 😭😂
The same reason I’m here
@@highbros.gaming4207 sameeee 🤣😂
Good shit, wish i had the patience😂
It's really not hard it takes a while but, I'm ONLY 10 years old and I twisted my own hair by myself for the first time and it turned out GREAT!! : )
@@Monkeyfakaa sounds suspicious
@@pureintellectualbeing3575 lol
You do
I would strongly recommend using a gel for these, or maybe a leave in conditioner if you don’t wanna use gel. I don’t think they’ll form as good without any product.
Nice alot of men showing how to do hair on UA-cam, I love it!!!!
This video is great. Since Im about to get the rest of my relaxed hair cut off, I was interested in this style. Thanks!
Love this 😍 + the tutorial was thorough and clear 👌🏽
Thank you for the feedback! I hope it helps
Exactly!
Dope ASF 🔥😍😍 I started mine on my own last night. About an inch long lol you motivate me to keep them in
Keep ‘em!
Mans liking comments 3 years later… what a legend
my weak ass arms could NEVA. your hair looks really good tho
Thank you for this, it was exactly what I needed! I spent about 5.5 hours in my bathroom and my arms hurt like hell but definitely worth it!
same I don't get how it took him less than 2 hours
Lol probably because I only had hair at the top of my head here 😅. Once you get a flow goin, you can go rather quickly
@@tylorwithanO i went from 6 hours to an hour and a half after getting the hang of it. your method really helped
Thank you. I just called the beauty store and I asked him to hold the last jar of that gel lol
Great video! Clear and concise instructions without all the unnecessary chatter. Thank you 😊 🖤👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
thank you so much for making this video I'm sitting here this morning panicking thinking that I would have to go to a stylist to get this done I used to braid my hair back in the day but looking at this video the two step with the two fingers and then going down to one finger I think I can manage that great video by the way 😍💯💗📼💇🏼♂️🎉🎉
Yay thaaanks for the feedback! You got this 👌🏽👌🏽
@@tylorwithanO hey I never got a reply back to my comment I post
My bad. Idk which comment/video you’re referring to 😅. What was your comment?
Twisting the hair ... By the 4th day with my texture hair my scalp needed to be washed. Have you ever worn your hair style in Senegalese twist ? If yes do you have a video on that hair style ?
No, I’ve never had Senegalese twists
This is what I have been looking for! Thank you! This will be easy to learn🥂
You are most welcome! I couldn’t find one, so I made one! Lol
This tutorial is very easy to follow through. Thank you!
Thank YOU
Man the front middle and up to the crown is money. But doing the back of my head is so hard man that’s why I’m here😭
You don’t even gotta see back there unless you’re parting. All I was doing was just feeling around. Use muscle memory from what you did to the front. You got it!
All salons are closed with this quaratine i wil do my hair alone thanx Tlyor with an O 🇳🇦
I'mma get this done because I seriously love hair and even tho I don't like doing my hair, I don't like getting it cut. So, thanks for sharin😊
This is JUST what I needed! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks for watching ! Glad I could help :)
@@tylorwithanO My pleasure 😎
You got my subscription. The tutorial was amazing. I don't have a comb (I wanted to learn to do Comb Twists on my own) but finger twists was a nice alternative. Fantastic walkthrough
Thanks! Planning on starting my twisting journey, I love this man
Oh cool! Good luck 👍🏽
I appreciate you showing in normal speed and then speed up doing the process and not show the end results
Thanks for the feedback 🫶🏽 and thanks for watchin
Best vid I’ve seen atm imma do this when I wake up tomorrow morning thanks for this 🤘🏽
How long of you been growing your hair?
I'm growing my hair out and using this style to keep a good look through my journey. Love the video, thank you for it and...what is the name of the track in the background? That atmospheric groove is jumpin'!!!
G'mon Lovesong thank you for the feedback! And it’s a custom song my brother produced for me.
tylorwithanO
Yeah mon, u r so very welcome and let your brother know his style is ELITE!!! Does he sell or rent his tracks? I would REALLY love to use this one mon!
G'mon Lovesong I'm doing the same
I just wanna know how you maintain this. Like washing. How often do you do it? I imagine washing would undo the twists?
Yes, but leaving them in for too long with cause them to loc up
@@christhegoat8911 i twist my hair like this every couple months but never left them in for more then 2 weeks what would think is the limit ?
@@cj4x264 3 max,
@@christhegoat8911 do you think it’s good to loc them up, because I’m thinking of locking them up
You make this look so easy since all you really need is good holding gel and time
I use a hair twist comb (looks like a tennis racket) the twists don't go down to the roots so it doesn't look as good as I'd like.
I thought someone was doing your hair for a second lol
Same Lol
Same
This is PERFECT! I wanted a potential style and to actually switch up my hair, this is definitely a possibility and our hair is basically the same in terms of length, my hair might be a little kinkier tho 😂💀 Thank you for the video!
You’re welcome. And thanks for the feedback! Glad I could help
I have the same grade of hair. Good thing our hair can hold curls better.
Agreed!

My hair is going through the dread process through the twisty way . My question is how can I go to the twist looking stage to the actually locc looking ?
Crochet
How long do the twist last as far as days, weeks. I want to twist my own hair.
Appreciate it bro I been searching for a simple tutorial
Glad I could help
Yass I loved this ..very detailed & helpful & they look Soo Good on u 🥰..Thank u for sharing Tylor...1 Word ...SUBSCRIBED😜
Wow thank you for the feedback! And thanks for subscribing! 🤗
You in the starter dred gang😋
look at that TRANSFORMATION! im doing this now! Tip: Setting mouse and small clips used to hold down each coil til dry. Im OUT’CHEA! 🎉🎉
I know this is old but if you’re still checking…thanks for a great tutorial! 🤗
Thank you for watching and the feedback. 😁
Bro still liking comments 🐐
So with this method I can use this to start dreads or would you recommend getting it done by a professional
Definitely use this to start dreads! Especially if you’re not concern with having parts, I’d do this over going to a pro
Ur explanation was great but im just hella slow and cant do it
I love your personality!
Thank you so much 😊
This is a great video. Will be trying the next month!!
Can you use the dread needle after this? Like I’m asking for myself
thanks for the wonderful method!
thank you soo much, I needed this since my sister or my mom wouldn't help me
Will they loc up? If so,how would u know?
do you have to pick your hair out before doing this or can it just be normal
I definitely recommend picking it out first because the hair has to be straight around your finger so it can recoil into the twists
Good vid thank you for the tutorial 💪🏾👍🏾
Thanks. Hope it helps!
Exactly what I needed. Thanks fam.
Ayy bro how long your hair I got like 2 inches but shit hard to do and do you got to do it from the back to the front
Nice video. 🔥💯What do you do to keep your hair up looking good.
Thank you ,you made it so simple
Thanks! My son wants me to coil his when I get time!! How long does it last?
@2Coop 4U chill 😂
Yes
learning this so i can do my boyfriends hair 💗
Best tutorial ever
I like it but i want to know if you can bath with it or how can i keep it to stay long. Thanks
Look at ALL them Views🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
My hair is curly but i dont know if i can do it do i have to wash it with shampoo and conditioner then it will work?
You don’t have to wash your hair for this to work. I just wet it
tylorwithanO thanks i tried it but it barely worked
what is wrong with the old fashion AFRO?
When i take the coils out it makes my hair curly
Thank you so much now I can show my mom so she can help me
This's dope but what's a good fade to match the coils? Do I gotta recoil every morning or can I just sleep with a bonnet on? Can I just do it once or twice a week n just spray water? Thanks for letting me know
Last time I did these I had a low skin fade. I’d recommend that
will they come out when i shower? how do i keep them in after a shower
Yes. I would wear a shower cap tbh
i could not do this properly but i found out how to make bigger curls so thanks
tysm ive been wanting to make dreads like that
Hope it helps!
Should I pick it out first
Very nice yeah im thinking i want to twist my hair but i need to know how to get them edges to lay down . Your edges are already popping and look awesome. If you read my comment can you please enlighten me on how. A sister can do that to her hair please ? And thank you!
I didn’t really do much of anything to my edges. My suggestion would be to just slick them back into the rest of your hair and put a scarf on it until they’re set lol. But thanks for watching! I hope you give it a try.
How long is ur hair in this vid
Hey i was wondering if you could do this with any tyoe of gel?
I’d say so. Anything with a decent hold.
yeah coz you're gonna use shower gel
Did yoy brush/detangle your hair? Or did you do this on tangled hair?
Detangle
How long does my hair have to be??
Ummm six inches
How did you know what you were doing with the back of your head
I didn’t need to see. There’s no parts, and I’m just twirling my hair around with my fingers. It’s easier than it looks I think
I did mine in 20 minutes and my hair is only a bit shorter
Would my finger coils look as good as this with a taper fade you only have hair like on the top but I got a bit more on the sides and back or should I cut it off and get like a drop fade
Yeah. It’d probably look better with the taper fade. I just cut mine myself so I didn’t taper it
Nice and neat work!! Great video
Thank you!
What product did you use
Also may I ask what type hair is this? Looks like the same texture as mine but I could be wrong
His hair is most likely a 4b/4c. I can never tell the difference between these two, but it’s definitely one of those types. Mine is 4c
2 questions:
Would it be better to get someone to do it for me or to do it myself?
How long should I keep them in for before redoing then?
Those are both up to you. Lol. You see it can be done by yourself if you’re up to it. And you just redo them when they need to be redone (uncoil, getting fuzzy, wash, etc.)
@@tylorwithanO thanks
I also love your skin tone bro
I appreciate you putting me on 💯😂
You’re welcome, thanks for watching
If you let it grow like that will it grow to dreads ?
Yes, you just gotta maintain them
Are u supposed to wear a durag when you go to sleep
Yes, so they don’t uncoil from you moving around against your pillow
Good tutorial very straight forward
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback
Toooo harrdddd🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
What if there’s major grow out and you tryna redo the twists? How is it done then?
You would just retwist them like dreadlocks
Can you sleep with this hairstyle? (Wearing a bonnet/ durag and silk pillow)
Yep yep
Hey so I was wondering if it is possible to twist my hair without any hair clips...
Yes, if it’s long enough (heavy enough) for the hair to hang without untwisting. The clips just keep it tight, but you don’t neeeed them
@@tylorwithanO Ah ok I see. Thanks👍🏾
Also, gel definitely helps weigh it down 👌🏽. Good luck!
Yo no cap I need someone to do my hair
How long do you keep them in for?
How long did it take your hair to get to this point ?
I believe this was almost a year of growing out the top
Looks great
