    @Vecise443, IMHO, having carried and fired both the M-16S1 and the SAR-21 assault rifles, I stick with the M-16 platform. The reason: the weight distribution is towards the front, which I feel is more effective for accurate shooting as the muzzle doesn't rise as much as a bullpup like the SAR-21. Also,I like how comfortable the M-16's trigger is with a more crisp break than the SAR-21 due to the sear/trigger group being located in front rather than behind. However, I would prefer the newer SAR-21 MMS that allows for modular mounting of red-dot sights, foregrips and 40mm grenade launchers, which would then shift the weight of the SAR-21 to the front. Of course, the good thing about the SAR-21 I like is the long-stroke gas piston operation is superior to the M-16/M4's direct impingement (DI) operation that fouls up the bolt assembly with soot. This makes the SAR-21 more reliable as it will not jam/malfunction as much. Personally, I don't feel much of a difference in weight between the 2 rifles, but the compact size of the SAR-21 is a plus point. Also, you cannot compare the M4/M4A1 carbine with the M-16 and SAR-21 as the M4 has a much shorter barrel length (14.5 inches) compared to the standard 20-inch barrel, which is most effective for 5.56mm rounds.

      @SpecJack15 i believe sar 21 is more to an advantage due to the scope... its really hard to shoot without it.. i didnt shoot m16 however i did shoot SAW and GPMG its feel weird without scope... but i believe it depend on the user too...

    • @SpecJack15
      @SpecJack15 10 років тому +2

      The scope itself isn't that great, especially when shooting in low light conditions. I find the scope reticle lacking illumination of any kind and without bullet drop compensation, or BDC for short (which is strange for a magnified sight since the shooter would engage targets at longer ranges). It's not a reflex sight like the Aimpoint M68, but even magnified sights like the Trijicon ACOG have an illuminated chevron/triangle with markings for BDC to be used with standard 5.56x45mm rounds in a 20-inch barrel. You can tell the difference in the design of quality scopes by looking at the reticle, field-of-view, if it's adjustable for varying brightness, if the body is waterproof and shock-resistant. In my opinion, a Trijicon TA31 1.5-3.4x28mm scope works best for engaging targets up to 700m; more than enough for us in Singapore. And both the SAW and the larger 7.62x51mm-calibre GPMG are designed for suppressive fire, not precise shots like a rifle. Hence, it is only normal for these guns to not feature scopes.

    P226 is lightweight? Ever heard of Glock? And P226 should be carried with a chambered round and decocked the hammer, the 1st round will be double action. This is much faster than pulling the slide in a case of emergency.

    "Self pride" as an MP. Sure i respect you guys but there's a big diff between "Self pride" and "Arrogance". I've seen my share of these guys during my time in tht god awful place. They leaned more to arrogance. Sure it's "discipline"..but whatever...just sayin.

    glock will be much better than P226

    • @SpecJack15
      @SpecJack15 10 років тому +1

      I agree! A Glock's trigger is more consistent (striker-fired pistol vs. DA/SA) than a P226 or a Beretta M9. And also much lighter to carry due to the polymer slide and frame construction :)

    • @mrcannotfindaname
      @mrcannotfindaname 10 років тому

      Actually P226 is slightly better than glock. I don't want to argue which one is better, but it all comes down to personal preference.
      One thing I recommend is to use P228/P229 for its more compact size if SAF wants to stick to SIG.

    • @SpecJack15
      @SpecJack15 10 років тому

      mrcannotfindaname Definitely, everyone is entitled to their own preferences. However, it's important to note that compactness isn't everything in a sidearm. For one, a longer (thus, heavier) barrel and slide will actually aid in accuracy due to less muzzle rise when the handgun is fired. Also, the polygonal rifling featured in Glock pistols create a tighter gas seal than conventional "lands and grooves" rifling, which give the round an added boost in velocity. These features play an important role in the pistol's inherent accuracy, which is essential in the usage of such a small weapon platform. Of course, the weapon is only as effective as the person shooting it, so pistol marksmanship is vital.

    • @mrcannotfindaname
      @mrcannotfindaname 10 років тому

      SpecJack15 I agree to what you say. But consider the fact that in Singapore, the society is rather safe, you don't need a very accurate gun. Easy to carry and conceal should be the priority. I live in SG so I know. The police is still using revolvers. 1 thing I like the most about Glock is its ease of field striping and their interchangeable parts across different models.
      I still prefer P226, come on man, it's used by Navy Seal! :)

    • @SpecJack15
      @SpecJack15 10 років тому

      mrcannotfindaname True that, dude! The society here is very safe, because I live in S'pore as well! Just bringing a few points on the topic, due to this being Military Police who are pretty much one of the rare units in SAF who employ the use of pistols, apart from Commandos and other elite infantry :)
