@@brandongreene9615 noooo you're supposed to keep them in the dark to help induce sleep. I just had boys that we're becoming lil men and their hormones were kicking in and they'd yell 24/7 🤣

does anyone know why they make these sound, is there a meaning? mine just keeps making those sound every minute or two and it might annoy the neighbor wondering how to fix my quail's quacking noise
I know this is an older video but it's worth a shot.. We have 22 quail (6 weeks old today) and they are all quiet at night, except for one. One wise guy makes this call literally every single minute or two, all through the night. Any idea why? Or how to stop it? We aren't allowed to have livestock, poultry, etc (I didn't ask about quail, so I can claim ignorance if the occasion arises. Shhh) in my town.. During the day, they sound just like random birds. No problem! But this by the minute call, all night long, is surely going to raise some unwanted attention. 😔 Suggestions?
He’s probably trying to compete with the other male birds to get his “mating call” out. We’ve had it bad at night the past few weeks with ours. All night between 1am and 7 am and it was driving me absolutely nuts. Yesterday we processed them for the deep freeze for a future quail dinners 💁🏻♀️
We just got 5 Coturnix quail and I think 2 are males. The first time I heard one of them make this sound, I thought it was dying. Definitely not a pretty bob white quail song!
Females don't make any sounds really and my males seem to reply and get excited because they think there is competition. My Quail did not start making noises till they were about seven weeks
We hatched 3 eggs together, so had 1 male & two females for about eight weeks. One of our female recently got away, and we haven't been able to find her. Ever since, our boy is restless in their home, going back and forth, and he's calling very high pitched constantly. Do you think it's because he misses the other female or is he just wanting to mate? He used to chase both females around all the time trying to mate, but doesn't seem so interested anymore.
Typically when they call he is looking for a mate. Not sure why he wouldn’t be interested in the other female though. Is the other female sitting on eggs or still broody?
@@SouthernYankeeLife thanks so much for the quick reply. She hasn't started laying eggs yet. I actually haven't 109% confirmed it's a female, but it's very quiet, and the boy does try to mount her occasionally. Sometimes "she" mounts him too, but not sure if it's just a dominant thing.
So cute during the daytime but when you've got 5 boys indoors at night its not so cute 🤣
Do you give them a night light?
It's horrible 😂😂😂
It’s nothing compared to a rooster or a female duck though trust me I’ve had all three and quail chirps are like beautiful music in comparison lol.

Ours have quietened down since we separated them into breeding groups.
I played this to mine and they went crazy
Mine too! 😊
Same 🤣
Even me too bro they went crazier😀
yeah they running all over the cage
We had one in the house for a few minutes, she went like: "where is he?"
It’s so funny how their whole body shakes when they do the call
Me: he sounds like a little ray gun.
My mom: he sounds like a wet fart.
😝

By two not only one
Hi Shayna. You'll want to look into getting either another male or ~3 females for company
I got 16 ...they are social animals ..they shouldn't be alone
Oh my gosh yours are so quiet! I have two males and one of them screams so loud with as much force as possible 🤣
“Look-at-meeee!!”
I miss my pugo :(
Thanks. Best way to tell a male, I guess.👍😎
I got two males for a start, and they do this noise every morning at 6:00 for at least 20 minutes. Why is that? (They don't let me sleep)
Just like roosters, they’re greeting the sun! It’s just what birds do
Maybe cover the cage?

Help I found an injured one and I nursed it back to health idk who it belonged to and I can't keep it any suggestions?
I would definitely try some local Facebook groups that allow posting of animals.

I hear my supposed female doing this once in a while is this a sign that they sexed the bird wrong when they sent it to me?

They should not be together
