- Hi x so after flying over the drone yesterday and spotting a couple of abadonded mills i decided to take a look, the Peter Scot mill is completely sealed but a different story for the smaller Glenhowe mill the hexa fence isn't linked together and the main sliding doors or the side are wide open, I was surprised to find the place like a museum to the history of Hawicks knitwear industry the old lifeblood of the town, its a very old stone building and brings much character to the area but alas like the other two mills ive filmed in Hawick its abandoned in the hope of being condemned for modern biscuit tin buildings a crime which ive seen throughout the many years ive been exploring abandoned historical buildings, the shape of the building reminded me of the old flour mill in Birmingham 💖
Music "Falling,' written composed by myself 💖
Great place, I like how the beautiful pigeon moved in
there's many big pigeon lofts around Hawick x thanks for watching Steve x
Enjoyed this video and enjoyed the music too. Good to see you out exploring.
Hi Time x i appreciate that was a little simple cord pattern with a break beat loop x not been exploring old industrial stuff for ages was good to get contamination again x
Sad to see the demise of a once thriving business, but super interesting to see around. Be careful in those disused buildings, Christina!
Hi Matthew x absolutely the noise of the textile mills would have reverberated around Hawick at one time that coupled with the steam whistle of the trains 🚂 thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts x
Hello, Christina ! It is amazing to see all the machinery and stuff that have been left behind inside the mill as if the workers had had to leave suddenly and unexpectedly due to an emergency evacuation but were expected to return to resume work. Very strange atmosphere but extremely interesting.
Take good care of yourself. Hugs to the pups. 👍🙏🐕🐶
I’ve not explored a industrial building for a while so many items left behind from the 70s/80s I love to imagine how it was in a past time frame right back to the first few years it was opened and how it’s changed x lovely to hear from you Hubert x thank you
wow so much things left behind
Like a chaotic museum x
Wow I always assumed that mill was empty. Fascinating to see all the old machinery!
Me too I didn’t expect it to be like this and was so easy to get in I hope this draws attention and the place is properly sealed up it’s so dangerous x
The space aged contraptions are called binding machines. My mum was a collar linker and she used these machines xx
Wow some much history just left to rot! So sad!
Absolutely was shocking it wasn’t secured properly bitter sweet to be able to film these places x
i bet that place could tell a few stories, imagine the people that have passed through that place that are no longer with us.
I always feel bitter sweet exploring these places bitter that it’s been left wide open and sweet to be able to document the place I wasn’t expecting to find so many original items from the past inside, it’s the little things that get me like tea bags still in the jar and old letters and postcards x thank you James xX
Wow can't believe what's was left in that building my mum can see it from her window she'll be fascinated to see inside another great video xxx
Hi Gillian x I hope it’s turned to apartments but I fear it’s being left to decay purposefully to allow something else to profiteer, usually the reason there not secured x always lovely to hear from you x
Wow loads of machinery been left there !amazing how it’s all been left there
Think maybe it’s been ransacked at some time
I’d have thought if the industry had moved to India or china the machines would have been exported boxes and boxes of labels and buttons a lot seems to be from the 1980s x thanks for watching mom xX
The picture of the bairn is intriguing, sort of looks like they shut the place then didn't really empty it out properly, maybe went bankrupt them someone bought it, doesn't care about what's on it, all a bit sad really but that's life
Agree but these places should be looked after and sealed up properly it’s criminal to let them slowly become condemned to allow modern biscuit tins to be built for profit
Shame,these,mills,
Are,empty.
Agree all the old stone mills around Hawick are either gone or like this x
