  • A day trip trail ride through the Colliers Mills WMA in the pine barrens in Jackson, New Jersey... adjacent to Six Flags Great Adventure. We are bugging out to Jersey from this PA lockdown (hence liberty ride) to discover a new (to us) WMA. We started with a ride along the back side of the Six Flags safari drive through to see if we could see some animals. After this we headed into the heart of the WMA. An overcast day, mild temperature, and amazing views made this trip a real winner! This area has some interesting history and beautiful landscapes. And such diversity! Like most of the pine barrens. Join us on our ride, and i hope you enjoy!

    Are there any bears in Colliers Mills NJ Wildlife Management Area?

    • @90volts
      @90volts  Рік тому

      I would think there could be. I think all of Jersey is 'Bear country' (black bears). But there is so much traffic through there and in such a relatively small area that you might have a better chance of seeing one in some of the larger wildlife areas.

      I'm sure there are Bears there A co-worker had his bee hives raided by a Bear in Jackson and we have had them in Whiting.

    Nice scenery, history & commentary. I've only been thru Colliers Mills while completing the TNJT (Tran NJ Trail). I need to spend more time in the area. Thank you & well done!

    After watching this video I decided to go there this weekend in the gladiator. My gf loves animals and she got to see her favorite one... the giraffes. She was so surprised and pleased with the ride. We didn't even bother with going to her beach house lol. Love the videos. I might check out a few other areas too. FYI if anyone gos to this trail please PLEASE mind your speed. People ride bikes and horses on the road. There's no need for anything above 25mph.

    where is the entrance

      There is one off Hawkins road behind the Speedway where Hawkins turns 90 degrees and goes out to 539.
      At that 90 if you go straight south instead of entering Colliers Mill you will be on Boundry road which skirts Lakehurst NAS and is part of the Trans-NJ-Trail. It's an easy stretch that I've done in my Mazda MX-5 and it will dump you out on 539 at the Army vehicle repair dept.

    Great video on Colliers Mills. We used to swim in Prospertown Lake...too bad swimming is no longer allowed :-( Did you used to own a dune buggy and suburban about 15/20 years ago?

      Thanks! This would be a great place to swim! And yes, i had a suburban and dune buggy around that time. Still have the dune buggy. The suburban went when gas hit $4 a gallon!

    Just stumbled upon your channel and so glad I did .... I’m from the Manayunk section of Philly but moved to Cape May about 20 years ago .... I have a 4x4 ram and want to start exploring the pine barrens .... in this video you were reading over the old paper....you mention Tedyuscung......he is a very famous Lenai Lenape chief.... there is a stone statue of him built in fairmount park where he looks west in search of safer lands .....

    Hi 90volts, is this an easy trail? I live near this place but never tried off-roading. I got a tacoma truck this year and I want to try this. Are the trails marked at all? Is this a good start for a novice like me? Do I need to deflate my tires when riding this trail? Sorry, too many questions.

    • @90volts
      @90volts  3 роки тому

      Yes. Alot of the area is just trail riding. There are some trails that can be muddy and the mud here is really mucky! So be careful of that. If you see water in the road and want to try it, get out and walk it to make sure its not too deep. but for the most part its not difficult... and most trails are pretty well traveled so if you do get into a situation, someone will be by after a bit and most likely give you a hand. Give it a try and have fun!
