I spent some time with John Eldredge and asked him a few questions on his new book, Moving Mountains. It's an inspiring book on prayer. You can read my full book review at: www.ericdemeter...
Fantastic word from the Lord. Thank you very much for posting this! I needed to hear this and it was very much a blessing to me!
Eric - totally appreciate your vulnerability here! Fantastic questions - you teased out some really powerful nuggets. Well done! Pray on!
Awesome interview guys, so many people need to hear more of this teaching!
Oh, how I love John's prayer! I plan to incorporate it into my parayers. This is an excellent interview, Eric.
Thank you so much! I'm glad it was helpful. Blessings.
Re: “It does need a certain degree of maturity” ... I’m hearing John say that we need to have a degree of self-awareness to be able to hear, recognize and own the condition of our soul...like the psalmist David who was very real and honest n his prayers.
That was a beautiful interview from the both of you from the questions to the answers. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
Thank you brothers :-), for the encouragement, and also a confirmation. when we surrender and wait (when we are seeking for God's guidance). I experienced that in 2014, asking God for 4 month(many tears) to "explain my husband that he shouldn't divorce me". there was NO answer ( as I thought). then I was so tired and hopeless. I said "Lord, what's next"? Within 4 weeks(of "silence") a person stepped into the store I used to work in, and I sold him a suit :-), and in the end of sale I asked what he was doing for living. He was an attorney who took my case (Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT FOR divorces, and was trying to convince my husband to go for counselling with any pastor he wants to). And he was my pro-bono who won the case. I'm still against divorces, would tell people "try to save your marriage", but when other party doesn't hear you we have Jesus who does!
I pray "God, You KNOW" prayers because I've made so many mistakes in what I've thought I wanted and even answered prayers have resulted in considerable pain. I trust Him to know what my true needs are. I know the verse "You have not because you ask not" but I shy now from specific prayers.
Eric you were so good at interviewing John...I really enjoyed your interaction. God Bless you.
I love this! So simple but can be so difficult!! Thank you!
You're very welcome. Glad you liked it!
Good book
Love this!
Creativity is found in freedom. Shame destroys that creativity. To pray freely is to know freedom from shame. To test your freedom, is to reflect on how and what you are resisting to pray about. To know that God already knows is helpful, but you need to speak it out loud. To voice that which is hidden in the heart; fears, sorrows and shame. When you can't do that, the prayer is that you can't do that... start there.
I pray His Word especially in the psalms. If you are double minded you will not receive from God
