I've found that by placing the pin over the hole with your tweezers and with your other handlightly pressing with a toothpick to secure holding its initial entry then insuring it is level switch to using your press on tool. It goes very smoothly. I like feeling and hearing the pop when it seats.

This was one of by far the single most fiddly and annoying thing I've ever done, but damn did it feel good when I pushed that needle down onto the spindle. It even cleared the minute hand in all directions.

Your enemy throughout the fitting of hands is the dial protector, its constantly in the way! The easiest way is to use a piece of Rodeco, just tear a piece of Rodeco off then shape it into a point, stick your hand onto the Rodeco then place the Rodeco complete with the hand attached to the desired location.Another tip, have the watch running when you are ready to fit the seconds hand just carry your seconds hand on your piece of Rodeco then place it on the pin,you will instantly know when the hand is in the correct place before you press because the hand will start moving, now press and that's it. No need for tweezers.

Tried to set them, but sadly broke the seconds hand and the pin inside for sure.. this is the hardest part

I would like the minute marker to align with the minute when the seconds hands sweeps over 12.

He used the word “anal” a few videos ago. Not. I do like the effort though. Sorry about negative stuff but when it comes to watches- no coffee allowed.

Hi there. Doing my own install with a miyota 851a, and having an issue with the second hand. It just won't go in. The first few times it seemed to take, it did not tick or move independently - it just moved together with the minute hand. They were not touching, they were about 45 degrees apart, and the relative heights of the hands looked ok. If I broke or bent the second hand spindle, would I be able to see that visually? No sure what to look for. Thanks.

Hmm, I think I'd personally worry about the alignment. I want my minute hand to align with the minute markers right when the second hand reaches the 12 position...

Although I suppose I could align that later? Not sure how this movement does the seconds.

It’s a sweeping second hand, it aligns as it passes. it’s not like a quartz movement that you have to be careful where you set the seconds hand to match the markers. Does that clarify? Let us know what questions you have. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, that is helpful. I'm going to attempt putting together my own watch based on the 2824 movement and have found these videos helpful. Just waiting on finding the right dial at this point.

Have you found in every case that the second hand pinion is tight enough to hold the movement in place, without the need of using a pinion crimping tool?
Aiming to do this on a DG2813 pretty soon. Thank you!
