Manik Varma Raga Gaud Sarang

Vidushi Manik Varma (1926 - 1996) was an eminent vocalist following Khyal Gayaki traditions of Kirana and Agra Gharanas. She was trained initially by Kirana Maestros such as Pt Sureshbabu Mane and Vidushi Hirabai Barodekar and then by legends such as Ut Azmat Hussain Khan (Jaipur-Atrauli) and Pt Jagannath But Purohit (Gunidas) of Agra Gharana.

I love this raga. There was a magical rendition by Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, on TV, maybe the 1970s, but it seems to have disappeared.
