I am now 75. As a kid of 16 I started learning to play tenor sax. I played sax untill I was in my mid 40's and like an absolute dum-dum, gave up on my music. Àbout 6 or 7 years ago I felt the urge to return to my old mistress, my music - only this time I went for flute, mostly because my musical tastes had changed a little. I am now much more focused on latin jazz. To my ear flute just has a better sound for latin jazz. But that is just my opinion. Anyway Bobby Ramirez has been such an awesome inspiration for me. His music is just where I really want to get to. It is light, it is breezy and it swings like anything. Don't get me wrong I still love the sax but my head is full of flute music now. It may be because I live at the coast in Chile and I often just get blown away by the sight of sunlight playing on the water. An example of what I am trying to say is the Chick Correa composition "Morning Sprite". If you have heard it you will get my connection between sunlight dancing on the water and stunning music.
