Not Your Average Zipper Pencil Case -Down the Middle

You've probably seen similar projects like this 'Down the Middle' zipper case where you need to create your own paper pattern. With my Winner Designs No Slip Template, no need for measuring or tracing. You just get to cutting so you can whip these up fast & easy!
They're the perfect size to hold pencils, tools, glasses and more.
My friend, Darla Bucalo, shows how to create the “Down the Middle” style, using one side of a long zipper or zipper tape at least 26" along the edges. When you zip it up, it zips down the middle!
If you’re intimidated by using half of a zipper (or don’t have a longer zipper!), use the Down the Middle Template to create a more traditional zipper case with both sides of the zipper. You’ll see when placed on the fold, you can create a wider zipper case. Use zipper tabs for your zipper ends, too. Then use the template to create a taller or shorter zipper case.
It’s a pretty versatile template and because it’s only 8 ½” tall, it’s a great scrap buster, too!
As with all of my templates, this Zipper Case has my No Slip Backing so cutting is consistent and easy!

Does your zipper tape tend to fray after you trim it down along the curves? I'm always reluctant to trim zipper tape, because I've heard people say that it starts to fray and the zipper eventually pulls out. What is your experience? Thanks!

My experience has been that the zipper is fine, especially if I top stitch. I am also triming to about an 1/8 away from the seam. I find the only downside would be that the zipper would not be able to reuse again in another project. 23:00
