  • Hungry for History: “Green-Meldrim House: So Many Stories to Tell”:
    • Speaker: Jamie Credle, Executive Director, Green-Meldrim House
Built in the 1850s, the Gothic Revival style Green-Meldrim House, originally owned by cotton factor Charles Green, has been the scene of significant historical events as well as having been a home, workplace (including that of enslaved people), and social setting. Sorting through the most significant stories to tell guests is a challenge. Attendees will be asked to weigh in on what they think is most important.
Jamie Credle came to the Green-Meldrim House as Executive Director in July 2023. She is responsible for the management of this 1853 Gothic Revival style home of a successful cotton factor as a historic site open to the public in Savannah, Georgia. In 2023, Credle received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council for 20 years of service to the Davenport House Museum, a museum property owned by the Historic Savannah Foundation.

Yes, the rest of Lady Sweet Savannah,
    Many do not know,
Yet, the bitter sweetness has a very,
    Unique glow.
    There are stories which reveal,
    Savannah's other world,
    To us they are each,
    A very special pearl.
Yes, there is a Hidden Savannah,
    Waiting on you,
To share her other side from her Historical- Celestorical skies of blue.
    Peace,
    Deepy
