Ah, finally a UA-cam shop that looks like it's used for making stuff and not for surgery or other sterile activities. Work benches that look like real work benches and not coffee tables...Tools strewn about, but he knows where they all are...Dust, dirt, metal shavings, rust...This is a place you can work in.

Places like these are ideal for young boys to spend time working(playing) with tools and materials.
It develops their brains because it forces them to innovate, improvise, and find alternative ways of solving problems. And let's not forget how it keeps them away from a lot of bad things.

The shop is great and all the tools collected over some time. Your variety of skills is impressive but here is what I appreciate.....and has nothing to do with privilege of any kind ....is the dignity of hard work you remind me of ... determined to be skilled and honest. The foundation of a great nation. As a 67 year old life long carpenter, I cherish every laugh and every tear I have had and the time I have left to maybe pass this dignity forward .. believe it or not there are many millenials seeking this

That is not a napping chair, my friend. That is what is called "A Thinking Chair". Every man over 50 knows that some times before you move forward you need to sit down and think something through before proceeding. Keeps you from stepping on your..... When you age a bit you know enough to stop and think about what you are doing every now and then. Always best to have a thinking chair near by. ATB, Bill

Your man cave or shed as we call them here in Australia is nothing short of amazing.
Back in 2009 I went to Cyprus to settle some family estate business for 3 weeks, when I returned I found to my horror that my darling wife had cleaned and re-arranged my shed whilst she never threw anything out I'm still finding stuff 10 years later, she's never set foot back here again.

I'm a young man from N.Y. trying to find my place in the world, so seeing this treasure trove of tools and equipment (really all your videos)makes me so happy I'm not in a office for a job and gives me inspiration to become a student of many skills. Granted I'm an unemployed college student at the moment, but I have worked a few hard manual labor jobs and one sales job in the four years between graduating and going back; even in high school, I interned in an office and could tell it wasn't for me - so forestry... here I come!

5 years ago I had terminal cancer (we won), and at 56 I’m just a few years behind you. My grandad left home and was building the Fort Peck dam at 14, driving a bulldozer. Later he ran a crew of “Rosie the Riviters” in the Portland, Oregon shipyards. After that he and another fella platted Gleneden Beach so they could build their own houses and have neighbors. His son - my father - continued working with their hands and their backs in ways I truly admire. Before heading off to the Army, his first couple of years working was in the sawmill on Newport, OR harbor. He loved the arts and wanted an education, and so he saved every dime before, during and after his military service, and went on to be a PhD in Theatre; later one of the pioneers in Film education.
I share this because even most in my own family don’t know that my Dad was a multi-talented tradesman and had the work ethic of his forebears. Growing up I helped him build theatre - sure, scenergy too but that was the light stuff - we built and transformed buildings and performance venues. You grow up taking for granted the wealth you learn from your parents, and I learned framing, flooring, plumbing, heavy electrical, lighting and early digital. My own interests went into computer engineering, later management, but in my own life I found mentors who taught me much more about pretty much all the trades in housing. I’m no professional like you, but I surely feel something deep in my soul when I watch your channel.
My health will never allow me to do much more than small projeccts and limited dabbling, but I sure wish I could spend a few days listening and talking, and as much light work as I could muster around your shop. A dream. What you are doing now to preserve elements of history, the spirit of the trade, and pass on pearls that can outlive you as these videos - well, its a fine thing.

Thanks for the inspiration. I was thinking of you today, as I was replacing interior doors. Bought blank slabs and hand fitted for the hinges using butt gage and sharp chisel. Used hole saws to mount knobs and bolts. Trimmed for width and height with worm drive saw. Every time I picked up a tool, even a screwdriver, I was reminded of another of your videos. Not to sound weird, but your stuff is worth listening to 2 or 3 times, especially for those of us who have a casual acquaintance with tools.

I love the drill press at 6:39, I picked one up at an auction a few years ago for $4. It was in pretty bad shape but I took it all apart and restored it. Dad and I loved it so much that we wanted to put it on the wall in the dining room but mom didn't like that so much. So we had to wait until she went to Italy to put it on the wall.

Most Amazing complete Shop I’ve ever witnessed!!!! -I can’t help but let my mind reflect on what America was like around 1900’-into the 1950s. -Shops were abundant and Men could make or Repair anything back then. Parts of your shop Reminds me of a bit of few old Lumber Mill shops I worked around back in 70s. Thanks for the tour👍🇺🇸

I have a similar crane at work. I use it to pick up the rear wheel and hub assemblies off of city buses and load them onto a drum lathe. I couldn't live without it.

Hi Scott. A new subscriber, only just started watching your videos.
65 year old carpenter, been at it since I left school, still at it. Every now and then you need a bit of motivation and watching one of your videos does the trick. Cheers.

The amount of time involved just to get the shop to its current state is breathtaking. All those 'little' projects ,mostly involving organizing stuff important to you, adds up. And yes boxes of bees, mostly from California, were the backbone of beekeeping for decades. Sure hope they were able to control the disease issues,as well as Africanized bee incursions. Lost track of that years ago.
    Cheers.

The knowledge this man has is incredible. This guy knows a hard days work, that's for sure. I love the videos. I particularly like the videos on certain pieces of equipment and the tricks you can do with them and what it's used for. Thanks for sharing.

Oh Guy Mosh. That's a beautiful work space. I'm coming late to the party, finally, at 65 going from a one car garage, to a 36X40 pole shop. Still waiting on the concrete floor, and wiring, and insulation and, and, and... I've still got projects and dreams...

What an amazing workshop/Mancave, love it. But it's also what I'd consider to be almost a living mini museum of blacksmithing. You're a credit to your profession.

The Coleman lantern collection is awesome!!
As a kid, I was terrified of Colemans; I always thought they were ping to explode. I would make a wide berth around them at the campsite. Now I have bought a couple of them from the 60s and 70s and enjoy making them perform.

Thanks for the tour my friend. I too have a shop. Mine is similar to yours in that there is a little of everything in it. It is a place I feel privileged to have. And yes your right just about the most important thing in it is a chair!
    Thanks again. Cheers.
