    STEP 1
    We admitted we were
    powerless over alcohol - that
    our lives had become
    unmanageable.
    STEP 2
Came to believe that a Power
    greater than ourselves could
    restore us to sanity
    STEP 3
Made a decision to turn our
will and our lives over to the
care of God as we understood
    Him.
    STEP 4
    Made a searching and fearless
    moral inventory of ourselves.
    STEP 5
    Admitted to God, to ourselves,
    and to another human being
the exact nature of our wrongs.
    STEP 6
    Were entirely ready to have
    God remove all these defects
    of character.
    STEP 7
    Humbly asked Him to remove
    our shortcomings.
    STEP 8
Made a list of all persons we
    had harmed, and became
    willing to make amends to
    them all.
    STEP 9
    Made direct amends to such
    people wherever possible,
except when to do so would
    injure them or others.
    STEP 10
    Continued to take personal
    inventory and when we were
    wrong promptly admitted it.
    STEP 11
    Sought through prayer and
    meditation to improve our
    conscious contact with God as
    we understood Him, praying
    only for knowledge of
His will for us and the power
    to carry that out.
    STEP 12
    Having had a spiritual
    awakening as the result of
    these steps, we tried to
    carry this message to
    alcoholics, and to practice
    these principles in all
    our affairs.

Every single alcoholic knows EXACTLY what he is saying! I can talk to another alcoholic who I have never met like he or she is an old friend... I can hear their story, that I have never heard before and know it by heart.

I thank God almighty that he turned to the Church directory. A complete act of Providence. He phoned the Reverend Walter Tunks and the rest is AA history and millions of lives saved. A very grateful recovered alcoholic. Born 1963. Sober 1995 God bless all who read this 👍♥️🇬🇧✝️🙏

The simple program for complicated people.. keep it simple folks.. read the literature .. one day at a time we help each other with our experiences … we are not drs psychiatrists or counselors … we are not saints … we do not preach.. we do not fix.. we aren’t teachers … we aren’t better than … we get better at … I love this program at its simplest level… I thank God as I understand God for AA & my recovery 🫂🙏

This man was chosen, was inspired, was a messenger. By whom? Some cosmic force for good, I imagine. He was probably a jerk a lot and I bet he sinned beyond belief like the rest of us but he did not make what he taught, wrote, or established about himself. There is no tenet nor step of AA that says "Oh, and by the way, thank our Great Leader Bill and his prophet Dr. Bob who gave you your sobriety and your life." Nah. My man was a scumbag like me but he walked a higher path. One I hope to walk myself.
