Hi Jeremy and friends, can anyone explain the difference between ports and interfaces (for example, Service port and service port interface), does port mean it is just a physical port that only use to connect cable but the functionality of the port is actually interface? For the same example, we need to have a physical Service port connected then we only can have the service port interface? Can we create a service port interface without service port connected? Truly appreciated it if you could understand and answer my question!!

@@tomchen18888 Hello. I watched Jeremy's Videos, making my own notes, revised the notes thoroughly, did few practice exams and booked the main exam. I passed on first attempt.

Awesome Video! Thanks for putting all this effort into these and not simply making them just to make them. One thing I have been wondering is how are they going to ask us to configure something (not just WLC's) with just multiple choice questions? Is the Boson question at the end a good example?
I think the Boson question is a good example. For CLI questions, you'll probably be asked questions like 'Which of the following commands should you use to accomplish X?' etc.
To be honest you are one of the most convenient tutor i have ever learnt from. thanks for you effort. I got one question though, are your practical packet tracer labs enough to deal with the CCNA needs? (Not saying that you haven't done a great job ) Thanks again.
Hi Jeremy! This lesson, in addition to the things presented, drew my attention to the mode of operation of the Fa0/7 and Fa0/8 interfaces in the presented diagram. They were defined in access mode in vlan 10 as management for APs, but also allow traffic in VLAN 100 and 200 for clients of the Internal and Guest networks. I kept wondering how this is possible. The answer I found is that in fact these interfaces communicate at Layer 2 level with the APs and redirect traffic based on IP at Layer 3 level to the clients of the Internal and Guest networks. Honestly, I don't remember saying this in these courses that a port in access mode can actually direct traffic at the Layer 3 level, but I deduced it based on what was presented. Please confirm if it is correct as I understood that it works! Thank you!
Hi! I cover this in the Wireless Architectures video:F0/7 and 8 don’t allow traffic on VLAN 100 or 200; they don’t need to because the LWAP uses CAPWAP to tunnel all client traffic to the WLC.
Hi Jeremy! I am very confused as different people say different things related to the importance of CCNA. I am about to book for the exam but need some advice from an expert like you. Please can you suggest if the new CCNA exam still has importance moreover is it easy to land into a good IT job having this certification. Thanks in advance.
You always make the CAPWAP tunnel go straight from the AP to the WLC, but isnt it send over the wired network? its confusing because i dont think its send wireless
Hello Jeremy, one question: If the internal SSID is being advertised by the APs and this is only intended for internal users, does that mean whoever comes into the office would have access to the internal SSID as long as they have the password? ....isnt that a security bridge as any internal employee could share the password with outsiders ?
From your prior wireless video, it is stated that "... because of CAPWAP, AP's are connected to switches with access ports, not trunk ports." What if another switch was added to this example @ 6:28. Since there would now be a switch to switch connection, would a trunk port be configured on this link? (or does CAPWAP eliminate the need for a switch to switch trunk) Thanks!
The answer is 'it depends'. If the traffic of multiple VLANs needs to travel over that link it must be a trunk, otherwise access is fine. Connections between switches are usually trunks, though.
the AP's only need to communicate with the WLC on one vlan (the mgmt vlan for instance), so the AP itself only needs to be connected to that vlan, as it tunnels the packets from the clients with their SSID to the WLC. However, if there's gonna be devices that wireless clients need to communicate with connected to that switch, then the appropriate vlans need to be trunked there as per regular. If the switch is only gonna be an access layer switch for lightweight AP's that connect to the WLC, then you will only need that one vlan.
As of today, exam topic 2.9 has changed to "Interpret the wireless LAN GUI configuration for client connectivity, such as WLAN creation, security settings, QoS profiles, and advanced settings" - does that change anything in this lecture?
I'd like to practice configuring the WLC's initial setup on my own, so I watched a tutorial and hopped onto the web interface for the WLC's initial setup. It was very limited as you mention here, plus, the config has now been "saving" for over 5 minutes. Anyone else attempt this, did it work? If so, how?
Probably a stupid question but why are the APs in the management VLAN rather than 100 and 200? Also I am about to give in and get Boson before I take the actual exams, is there a promo code or anything that helps you out?
Hi Jeremy, I wish you would talk about AP-Manager interface. I found about it in Boson ExSim and not a lot of materials cover its relationship to Management interface.
hi jeremy ...always your videos are commendable.. but i have a question.. Why does the WLC require IP address in Each VLAN .... the only explaination i could figure out is that...it works as a management IP for each VLAN ..is it correct please provide your valuable input . thnx for your time

Hi Jeremy I got question about connection between WLC and local AP. If WLC to reach local AP should be connected to the same switch or it could be connected to any switch in LAN ?
33:32 is that the WLC detecting your apple devices as rouge AP's? I'm curious; does it just detect anything that omits 802.11 signals as rouge ap's by default, not considering the SSID or even if the device is an AP or a station?
Thank you so much for your videos Jeremy. You make everything so easy. Got a question I still don't understand how AP1 was chosen as the internal while AP2 became the Guest. Where and how did that happen? I can't seem to pick that one up. Please help
@@JeremysITLab That's the point, I don't know where and how the APs were configured to have their respective VLANs (AP1 Vlan 100, AP2 Vlan 200) But I'll try to explain my situation. At 8:00, you configured the int f0/6-7-8 as access ports vlan 10, then you configured each vlan interface with their ip addresses which are used as the Default Gateway In the WLC, you added the internal and external interfaces, in there, you add the ip addresses and vlans. Still no choice to associate this with AP1 or AP2 Then you added the WLANs, and chose each WLAN to have its interface you just created Internal/External Where exactly was AP1 configured to be VLAN 100 and AP2 as Vlan 200. I'm so confused. Does it do so automatically? Or am I missing something. AP1 and AP2 should be Vlan 10 as the interfaces connecting to them were configured as switchport access vlan 10. I think I need to revise my VLANs

Hi Jeremy! Just wanted to know if this is the last course of the series, or will there be some more? I mean, have you completed the course, or is it yet to be completed in the future? Tanks!
At 7:25 are the CAPWAP tunnels talking to the WLC over wireless or wired? I know the tunnel diagram shows it going straight to the WLC, but it is still technically passing through the switch in a "tunnel" correct?
@@JeremysITLab Thank you so much for the quick response. That makes a lot more sense now. I've got my test scheduled for the end of February. @@NoelGwenhure-kb5dc it went well. Definitely understand subnetting, what network a host belongs in, deciding what route a certain packet will take, etc.
awesome video Jeremy but I have a question regarding WLC capwap tunnels and APs. hypothetically, if an AP is over 100ft away from the WLC and the only way for data to travel is through multiple walls/barriers via the capwap tunnel, wouldn't this cause massive interference/latency? I guess I'm not understanding how this is good design when data goes from: Client->AP->capwap tunnel->WLC->Switch when data could instead go from: Client->AP->Switch->WLC any insights would be appreciated
Communication between APs and the WLC always goes through the switches - the tunnels create a logical connection between them, but the bits must physically pass through the cables to reach the WLC.
@@JeremysITLab I'm just a bit confused because at @6:44 you say traffic passes through the CAPWAP tunnel to the WLC, and then from the WLC to the switch, and then back the same way it comes from. so essentially the data traffic doesn't go through the CAPWAP tunnel?
@@braybraycooldude1238 There's a difference between the logical path and the physical path. For a client's data to reach the default gateway, the logical path it takes is: client > AP > WLC (via CAPWAP) > Switch. However, keep in mind that data traveling through the CAPWAP tunnel must physically pass through the switch - the tunnel isn't its own physical communication medium. So, the physical path is: client > AP > switch (in CAPWAP tunnel) > WLC > switch.

There is no mention of the AP-Manager Interface type in here (unless I missed it) but I would suggest that others know about that type as well.
Hi Jeremy,
How do APs know which DHCP POOL they should be using?
Thank you, Jeremy.
Thanks for watching, Ahmed :)
Because the IP addresses of the APs are used to manage them! Hence the 'management' VLAN ;)
You can use my Boson code for 15% off: JEREMY15
Hi Jeremy,
I wish you would talk about AP-Manager interface. I found about it in Boson ExSim and not a lot of materials cover its relationship to Management interface.
hi jeremy ...always your videos are commendable.. but i have a question..
Why does the WLC require IP address in Each VLAN .... the only explaination i could figure out is that...it works as a management IP for each VLAN ..is it correct please provide your valuable input . thnx for your time
How many hours of content is here in this course. I am going to start this in progress.if i can know it will be helpful for me to make a good plan
should I purchase the CCNA gold bootcamp or watch your series to pass?
Whichever course you prefer! Or you can watch both
@@JeremysITLab sorry to bother again but do you know if the gold bootcamp is better than his UDEMY course? Its $20 and I dont mind at all paying the $100 for the bootcamp if it will have me more prepared for the exam
Hey Jeremy
You haven't mentioned anything related to radius server or tacacs+ ?in this video
Can this lab be done using packet tracer? I've tried doing so but I can't connect to the WLC GUI via http
Thank you Jeremy. I was wondering for creating the SVI on the switch did you have to enable ip routing on the switch.
8:57 last 3 commands needs (if default config) a **encapsulation dot1q** to work, no?
WILL I BE ABLE TO PASS THE CCNA WITH JUST NETSIM AND EX-SIM MAX???
Thank you so much for your videos Jeremy. You make everything so easy.
Got a question
I still don't understand how AP1 was chosen as the internal while AP2 became the Guest. Where and how did that happen? I can't seem to pick that one up. Please help
Hi! What time in the video are you asking about?
@@JeremysITLab That's the point, I don't know where and how the APs were configured to have their respective VLANs (AP1 Vlan 100, AP2 Vlan 200)
But I'll try to explain my situation.
At 8:00, you configured the int f0/6-7-8 as access ports vlan 10, then you configured each vlan interface with their ip addresses which are used as the Default Gateway
In the WLC, you added the internal and external interfaces, in there, you add the ip addresses and vlans. Still no choice to associate this with AP1 or AP2
Then you added the WLANs, and chose each WLAN to have its interface you just created Internal/External
Where exactly was AP1 configured to be VLAN 100 and AP2 as Vlan 200. I'm so confused. Does it do so automatically? Or am I missing something. AP1 and AP2 should be Vlan 10 as the interfaces connecting to them were configured as switchport access vlan 10.
I think I need to revise my VLANs
one more question: Is it necessary to buy CCNA books?
I highly recommend using books! I like the official cert guide from Cisco: www.ciscopress.com/store/ccna-200-301-official-cert-guide-library-9781587147142
Hi Jeremy! Just wanted to know if this is the last course of the series, or will there be some more? I mean, have you completed the course, or is it yet to be completed in the future? Tanks!
Not done yet! Check jeremysitlab.com/ccna-course-progress
@@JeremysITLab Thank you very much, Jeremy! You are just a wonder. Such a high quality course offerd for free to the world..
I reviewed this lessen today and happened to find the regulatory domain of the US is -B. Canada is -A.
At 7:25 are the CAPWAP tunnels talking to the WLC over wireless or wired? I know the tunnel diagram shows it going straight to the WLC, but it is still technically passing through the switch in a "tunnel" correct?
The tunnels are built over the wired network; the WLC itself doesn’t have wireless capabilities.
@@JeremysITLab Thank you so much for the quick response. That makes a lot more sense now.
I've got my test scheduled for the end of February. You've heard it a thousand times I'm sure but this course has been a game changer. It has made studying for the CCNA a lot of fun. Very appreciative of what you're doing. Thanks again.
@@trebbomb25 how was it bro
@@NoelGwenhure-kb5dc it went well. Definitely understand subnetting, what network a host belongs in, deciding what route a certain packet will take, etc.
@@trebbomb25 congratulations, wish you well in your future endeavors, im booked for the 15th of this month
hey Jeremy could you plz let us know an estimation of how long this course will be ? how many more days or youtube videos?

Hey, amazing work! Just wanted to ask, how many series theres gonna be in total? Cheers
Should be APs by Cisco?
awesome video Jeremy but I have a question regarding WLC capwap tunnels and APs. hypothetically, if an AP is over 100ft away from the WLC and the only way for data to travel is through multiple walls/barriers via the capwap tunnel, wouldn't this cause massive interference/latency? I guess I'm not understanding how this is good design when data goes from:
Client->AP->capwap tunnel->WLC->Switch
when data could instead go from:
Client->AP->Switch->WLC
any insights would be appreciated
Communication between APs and the WLC always goes through the switches - the tunnels create a logical connection between them, but the bits must physically pass through the cables to reach the WLC.
@@JeremysITLab I'm just a bit confused because at @6:44 you say traffic passes through the CAPWAP tunnel to the WLC, and then from the WLC to the switch, and then back the same way it comes from. so essentially the data traffic doesn't go through the CAPWAP tunnel?
@@braybraycooldude1238 There's a difference between the logical path and the physical path. For a client's data to reach the default gateway, the logical path it takes is:
client > AP > WLC (via CAPWAP) > Switch.
However, keep in mind that data traveling through the CAPWAP tunnel must physically pass through the switch - the tunnel isn't its own physical communication medium. So, the physical path is:
client > AP > switch (in CAPWAP tunnel) > WLC > switch.
@@JeremysITLab Thank you! it makes sense now
Hi Jeremy! Awesome content!... Will you upload some Internet Security videos some day? Will be awesome!
Thank you Jeremy
Thanks for watching :)
I passed. Thanks for your help
Thanks a lot Jeremy!
This one was rough lol😵
Thanks Jeremy
Thanks for watching, Stephen :)
Hey Jeremy I have knowledge on networking.
Can you plz tell me which one is best for job Aruba network or cisco network
Cisco 100%
Hi Jeremy, i didn't understand at minute 13:20 why yo picked up the ip 172.16.1.1 for direct communications between wlc and clients... That ip is in a non-setted vlan, i don't understand and i am breaking my head now on it!😅
I want even congratulate with you for these extraordinary contents, you are a great, thank you!
I doubt we'd get any questions regarding that during the exam
Hi Jeremy... have you made other video tutorials for Cisco certification apart from this CCNA 200-301 , If so where can I get them ?
Not yet, still working on finishing up the CCNA course (almost done!)
Hi Sir jeremy I like these video it's super
Sir what about pdf file for all lecture when are you going to upload them thank you
Thanks jeremy
Thanks as always :)
Jeremy I know you probably don't have time to mess with me, although if you could answer one question for me. What port and protocol did you use to connect ISP to the switch. I'm having trouble ciphering whether your config was based off your home default router because I keep getting switch log saying that dual ip 192.168.1.1 exist. Please advise whether your isp was 192.168.1.1 ....if you have a minute that is and I realize ccnp encore is prob consuming your time! When I get home from work and retrieve my PayPal password I'm gonna join your jcnp
Thank you for your effort
What traffic doesn't go through the capwap tunnel? Management ? Did I miss something?
All AP traffic will go through the CAPWAP tunnels, unless something like FlexConnect is used (which allows the AP to locally switch the traffic).
Thank you Jeremy :)
thanks alot Jeremy
Awesome video on wlc
