Nice overview! I can’t wait for the HDMI/USB-C-powered version coming out soon! Also, they use micro-oled, no micro-led, huge difference and why it has optimum colors/contrast!
This is an awesome product, thanks for the review! Proper viewfinders for professional filmmakers was standard for most of film history and I've missed it so much with the digital era besides high-end cinema cameras. I've been looking for a solid EVF and they've either been not good enough quality or overpriced. This EVF seems to be just right when it comes to quality and pricing. Looking forward to owning one.
Amazing, it's nice to have another evf option on the market. I use one all the time for any shoulder work. it's nice to be able to isolate yourself from the world around sometimes
Definitely looking into this when I get my C400. I only worry about power. I don’t wanna rig a vmount and the Canon BP-A batteries are new so nothing released yet with that new config + DTAP. If / when that happens I’m golden! 😆
Awesome! Would love to see a follow-up with this on an FX6 in a shoulder rig config. That camera is a pain in the arse to rig for should use (FX9 style).
I’ve been eyeing the Portkey Oeye for a while, because of the versatility of inputs and outputs, but heard the fan noise makes it pretty much useless if you are recording audio. Looks like this has made up my mind for me, it looks like exactly what I want. Cause I’m not paying what Zacuto wants for their evf
Quick question for anyone using this with FX6 or FX9 - are you able to monitor in 24fps shooting 4K resolution from the SDI and if you are please share your setting regarding what signal you’re telling the camera to send over SDI.
How would you compare the latency on this to the Kameleon? That was always the dealbreaker for me before for that model. If this latency is faster, that would be a gamechanger.
@@CineDailies Me, too. I do not have access to the viewfinder right now. I was hoping you could do the test in the coming weeks (as you have both camera and 'the Eagle' :-)
I use the zcam evf for now, he does the job fine for framing but I find it useless when it comes to juge focus because of a lack of sharpness… Now that you have use both, can you say that the Kinefinity one is really sharper than the zcam ? I’m curious to have your opinion about this point :) Thanks for the review by the way.
thanks for watching!! I dont own the zcam EVF anymore. its been two years so dont know it stacks up from memory. Personally, I can focus fine, the diopter works well.
What anamorphic modes are supported? 1.5x 🤞 Do you know the official nit count for the monitor? Thinking about upgrading to this from the Sony dvf el100 for my f55
@@CineDailies Specific desqueeze ratios and brightness specs are not listed on the website. I was hoping you'd be able to answer, as you have access to it
@@colemowery sure - I can about the brightness, but so you know there is a low, medium, and high level. since this is an EVF I'm guessing the nits is around 400 for max brightness. Most cinema camera will have an anamorphic output over SDI. There is a 1.5x option in the Eagle
Regarding Focus direction: It sounded like you like to move the focus where ever your thumb points but if you think about which way your pinky is going it will make tons more sense focusing the proper way. pinky toward you is closer focus and pinky away from you is farther focus. really helped when I was learning.
@@CineDailies I am hoping Kinefinity will be allowed to use the Sony EVF port. They seem to in good graces with Sony which is licensing to Kinefinity to ability to use the electronic function of their E Mount.
Quick note! The Run stop feature is available for canon, sony, arri and red cinema cameras as well! evf.kinefinity.com/aff/4/
Also I love the "more than an embargo" shirt! That's tough
its actually a great fit too ha

Yooo! Thanks so much for have me out, Josh! Really enjoyed checking out this EVF. 😁
Love having on the channel bro!
@@CineDailies can’t wait for next time!
You forgot the main reason we use EVF ‘s - to get rid of people over your shoulder saying “you should try a low angle” 😅
So true haha

Exactly, well said. Yeah the price and quality are well balanced. Certainly worth owning

Couldn't agree more!
This is definitely looks like the best EVF coming to the market
It really is!
Awesome video brother! I think this EVF will be huge success for Kinefinity :)
Thanks Jakub! I look forward to your review! And I agree, this was a great move for the company
Killer price point on this. Will have to check this out!

Yeah I might have to!

Nice review. Do you know if it is possible to load different LUTs on this EVF?
Side bar....bro you MUST shoot a short film at your new location! Production value through the roof!
I have plans 😬

You guys would love the focus direction of Nikon lenses
Oh I already do! Lol
Hey !! would you be able to test - Hdmi to sdi converter - & running the kinefinity Evf into the fuji that way??? :)
Well, disregard my last comment. im uploading a video that might be interesting for you.
How is it compared to the Zacuto? :)
Just checking hdmi to sdi adapters. Would love to use this on the Cine X One Pro.....
I'm curious to know if that will work

How are you rigging the EVF to the RED Komodo?
using the 15mm bracket mount and my mid49 top handle

Any chance that USBC will work on the Canon C400 that has a USBC to the monitor?
Unfortunately it would. The usbc is only for FW updates. But why would want a USBc connection over a more reliable SDI?

is it going to work with SDI to HDMI converter?
I have no idea 🤷🏽♂️ sorry
When the camera is on the shoulder, shouldn’t be the EVF the fourth point of contact? ;-)
Lol sure
Don't you make me buy something I totally don't need but feel like I need it
LOL i meannnnnn
damn, Nisi biting the master prime paintjob hard.
Totally
The issue is if you want and use info on your EVF and like peaking-everything is peaked...annoying as hell.
yeah the work around is clean feed out from your camera then use the peaking from evf. its like that with any EVF and monitor. which is wild to me
