      @@christhelostsoul9927 a gpu cpu is called a gpu (graphics processing unit) and it uses the same tech as CPUs just with different architectures and features.

    Nice! I think it would look more interesting if you took a look at a more recent processor with such high magnification, this old processor you chose has so few features. Though these new chips have many many layers and need processing before they look really nice.

      Thanks for commenting! You're right! A newer processor would be much better, but it's the only cpu i have with the chip exposed... But it's a good idea for a future video!

      I can send you some of my etched chips if you want.
      I have a spare Coppermine die and I also have some spare Pentium 4 dies I used for testing, they already have their upper layers removed by etching.

      Thanks for the feedback! We use a light microscope, a smartphone and an adapter to keep it still. So the video is a black background with a circle in the middle (the actual video). If we zoom in, the video quality reduces . So we use the overlay. Have a nice day!

      Moore's law never existed in the first place, it was like a guideline for the industry and the density of transistor was always kind of a vague way of defining a CPU actual processing power, now it's more and more unrelated to the real processing power. Plus the density was always an average, some parts are probably at 1nm since quite some time.
      And the processing power doesn't follow "Moore's law" since quite some time already.
      Anyway...

      @@yaghiziad1034 Today, A processor is made with 345 times smaller transistor than this Processor shown in video... That's way complicated, even a thousand years is not enough for me to design a computer

    Nice video, but i think the actual circuits are on the other side of the chip, facing the ceramics. What we can see here are some interconnect layers, that connect the different circuits together and finaly the CPU-core to the pins.

    This chip was designed by Cyrix, the 6x86 (M1), which gave the Pentium strong competition in the mid-90s. It's quite an interesting core.
