If you put premium electronics in it, have a bone not installed in a set up you will not be disappointed. It’s a bad ass guitar. I thought it was gonna be cheap but it’s bad ass.
The numbers on the back of the pickups, refer to the pole spacing between the center of the first and the center of the last pole 50mm for the neck and 52mm for the bridge Those numbers are used for most of Gibson and epiphone guitars and basically align perfectly with the strings
Yep. Duncan that are not Trembuckers (model number begins with "TB") and DiMarzios are 49mm or so for bridge humbucker pole spacing. Import buckers are 50mm and 52mm spacing on neck and bridge, respectively. Cool project.
Vintage Gibson spec is both pickups being the same size though. They only made one pickup in one size. I realize this isn't a vintage Gibson kit because of the neck joint and wood choices and such but to be clear, a real Gibson Flying V has identical sized humbuckers in both positions, same with a Les Paul, SG, etc. They didn't make different sized pickups and covers until the late 90's. Typically when a Gibson was made in the old days, the string saddles weren't notched until the final construction and set up of the guitar. Then they would set the string spacing exactly over the bridge pickup poles. This is why a lot of vintage Gibsons would have notches in the saddles that weren't perfectly centered at times.
Absolutely. I'm 100% impressed with the quality of this kit and will most likely be building more of bexgears kits. Keep on rockin and thanks for watching!
I’m building my kit rn and bought the same type of truss rod cover on Amazon. Thing is HUGE. I’m gonna try to trim it and redrill the holes in the rear to slide it back so I hopefully get enough clearance to allow the tuners to fit
Wow! Looks Amazing!! I plan to build one soon. One question - when you were showing the copper foil tape, you said you were installing it to make the electronics cavity "conductive". Normally you use copper lining as an RF shield - would you actually want a conductive surface near your other electronics? Thanks for any advice!
Yes it is to reject rf. The adhesive is conductive to create a continuous shield. Best of luck with your build. Thanks for watching and keep on rockin.
My bexgears flying v kit had so much wrong with it. Every part had some kind of issue. Yours looks really good. Btw i guess they dont use full size pots anymore because mine showed up with the tiny cheap ones.
Ya it took me a few days to wrap my head around that riff. The neck is perfection. No buzz, perfect tuning. I would put this guitar against guitars worth over a grand any day. It's my favorite guitar and I have many to choose from.
Why the conductive tape? Wouldn't that short out the inner electronics if it were to touch? I'm just asking cause I'm really thinking of buying this kit!
I have been debating on doing this kit myself for awhile now. I was wondering though if those stock pickups that come with it were microphonic and if they are how bad are they
Hey there my friend. The pickups are not at all microphonic and they sound almost as good as my Gibson melody maker. Best of luck with your build. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking.
I started using linseed oil on violins with great results so I figured why not use it on my guitars as well. I'm very pleased with the results 😀 thanks soo much for watching and for your imput.
How would one get a replacement pickguard? I got this kit, and it seems like the pickguard was poorly cut on mine. It seems to be slightly differently shaped from a regular flying v pickguard, so I'm worried about ordering a replacement, only for it to not fit.
Amazon has them pretty cheap. Sometimes a bit of work with a file will fix the problem. Good luck with your build. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking.
The Electra Vs did skyrocket in price, just like the blue Fernandes Stratocasters. It's crazy how much of an upcharge people will give you for instruments of questionable quality just because another person played on them. Boggles my mind.
Was great until you put that truss rod cover on..... Bad move, Gibson may give you a call uve already proved it isn't a Gibson, why do people do that???
This brand of V ticks all the boxes aesthetically for me. It’s the one I’m looking at. Thanks for sharing.
This kit has become one of my favorite guitars. Good luck with your build. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking.

That certainly looks to be better quality than than many sold today.
Absolutely. I'm 100% impressed with the quality of this kit and will most likely be building more of bexgears kits. Keep on rockin and thanks for watching!
It’s is
Use all Gibson parts and it’s a great guitar I love mine
Mine has become one of my very favorite guitars. Keep on rockin
Doing a great job!!! Enjoy learning
Thanks soo much
Good job building and playing
Thanks soo much for your kind words
I think this might have to be my next project too! Thanks for this video my friend! :)
Really is a great kit
It really is
It’s loads of fun
The longer in the better you take to finish it right the better it will come out in the end, so take your time
The fact you put a waterslide decal of the Gibson logo cracks me up
All in good fun. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking
I did the same thing 😂😂😂
hi brand new here ,was just going thru diy guitar builds when i came across yours and O boy gotta love the Vs ,great vid ,thumbs, subbed
Thanks soo much for the support and best of luck with all your builds. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking!
By the V kit and then, by all the cool stuff you want to put in it don’t skimp on anything and it will be a bad ass guitar

Awesome. Good luck with your build. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking.
I just got mine from Bex. Gonna stain it a transparent blue. Can't wait to put it together.
Congrats my friend. Enjoy your build.
@@TheRandalljburke Thank you. I'm gonna change the pickups to ceramic humbucker pickups. Stain it a transparent blue.
The nice thing about pickups mounted to the pickguard is it's easy to try different ones 😀

That's a shame because the one I got was fantastic. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking
@@TheRandalljburke your video was what made me want to go with that kit in particular. You have good content. Thanks for the video!
The only thing that I used on my kit was the neck in the body. Everything else was cheap.
And I use true oil about 20 coats, and it looks fantastic
You gotta know how to get by those things
Very nice video my friend! Well done. It would have been nice to hear some crunch though. But Still, nice job.
Thanks soo much. And she does crunch just awesome 👌 keep on rockin.
I put one together with Seymour Dunkin’ pick ups and Gibson hardware and a bone nut it plays great
It’s light
Doing it right.
I t is really a great guitar and cheaper than a Gibson
And you get to put it together yourself
Excellent job on the headstock my man the paint turned out great
🤘
Rock and roll
"I feel fine" is always my go-to for testing clean tone 🤣
Me too. It gives a rough idea of neck condition and intonation. And it's fun to play!
Right! It's a tricky riff, tho. But once you get it going it's very fun to play.
How's the guitar playing? Any fret buzz? Stays in tune?
Thanks 👍
Ya it took me a few days to wrap my head around that riff. The neck is perfection. No buzz, perfect tuning. I would put this guitar against guitars worth over a grand any day. It's my favorite guitar and I have many to choose from.
Ok, you have convinced me. I'm getting one!! The wife it's not going to like it but whatever 😅.
Thank you, sir!
You won't regret it. It's a super easy build as well. Time to get the wife some nice flowers. Lol. Keep on rockin and thanks for watching!
BEX gears has good kits,🤘
I totally agree. I would not hesitate to buy more of BexGears kits in the future.
I got the strat kit, but now I'm thinking about getting the flying v.
In my opinion you definitely won't regret it. It's a first rate guitar.
@@TheRandalljburke black with white poka dots paint on it.🤘
Randy Rhoads. Yah man !
The angle of the bridge is absolutely correct
Yes and it plays like a dream. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking
I love mine I tried to make it look like a 58
Great idea Matt. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking
Why the conductive tape? Wouldn't that short out the inner electronics if it were to touch? I'm just asking cause I'm really thinking of buying this kit!
The tape prevents hum. Just be sure not to let the hot wires touch the tape. Good luck with your project. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking!
I didn’t use any and it still works great
Mostly because I didn’t have any but it’s still rocks out don’t hum
How did you do the headstock finish, looks good.
I used Krylon spray can sanding with 400 grit between coats. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking.
@@TheRandalljburke ok thanks.

Linseed oil works great for shotgun stocks but your choice to not spray the body with a polyurethane clear seems odd. What drove your decision?
I started using linseed oil on violins with great results so I figured why not use it on my guitars as well. I'm very pleased with the results 😀 thanks soo much for watching and for your imput.
Many Luthiers finish guitars with Boiled Linseed Oil or Tru Oil. I hate poly for how hard and wear-proof it is. I want to wear my guitar in.
Yes,Tru Oil em up!
Natural beauty ✨️
I used true oil it looks killer

Is there a kit number and what kind of tuners are included?
It would be wise to buy some quality tuners
Junk
I'd paint it white like the james hetfield flying v
That's a great idea. Good luck with your build. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking
@@TheRandalljburkeabsolutely! Thanks for sharing this video
Hard to justify a kit given costs of an Epiphone V. But sure it’s fun to build.
It's definitely satisfying to play an instrument you assemble and refine with your own hands. Thanks for watching and keep on rocking.
@@TheRandalljburke agree. I built a strat relic. Great fun.
I'm a big fan of relic guitars as well
The Electra Vs did skyrocket in price, just like the blue Fernandes Stratocasters.
It's crazy how much of an upcharge people will give you for instruments of questionable quality just because another person played on them. Boggles my mind.
That's why I like carefully selected Asian guitars so much. If you don't mind doing a proper setup on them they are an exceptional value
Good film but not sure how I feel about it having a Gibson truss rod cover
Thanks for watching I really appreciate your imput
Maybe just get over it you know, it's called a homage....obviously it's not an actual Gibson
Seems wrong like you said. A real Gibson would have a lot more qc issues.
Whinnie the poo?
Was great until you put that truss rod cover on..... Bad move, Gibson may give you a call uve already proved it isn't a Gibson, why do people do that???
Because people can’t afford a real Gibson v
