OMG I just saw this, THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH! I just put more pitchers out all over here due to the HIGH heat we now are having, and they are saving my plants, THANK YOU AGAIN!
Robbie how do worms get up into tote and pitcher?
Here they climb in or if I see some under a rock or flower pot I toss on a few, and then they multiply 😊
Robbie, I have learned more from you and your hubby than ANY resource in all my 63 years 🙌🏽🙌🏽🥰
Thank you!
Merry H, again thank you for the SUPER THANKS!!!!
Same👩🏽🌾
Me too! I'm actually growing food!
Me too! Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge and creativity Robbie!
Hi Robbie! We have lots of leftover plastic cat treat containers that have a little angled flip-top on the removable lid. We drill holes in the bottom and sides and use those in our 5 gallon grow buckets as they're just the right size. But the inspiration to use what we have came from you and now they don't go into the landfill! Thank you for your creative ideas!!
Thank you for that great idea! I'm going to begin using mine for this!
@@dianeandjesus 👍
That is a really good idea! I have cats that love those treats!
PLEASE KEEP DOING THESE SHOW AND TELL PROGRAMS. IT REALLY INSPIRES ME TO WORK HARDER AND LOOK FOR RESULTS! I LOVE IT.
Your comment inspires me too to keep going, sure will, thank you 😊
I just knew it will work perfectly cause all my compost in place totes I have done almost three months ago have been turned into black soil! I knew that this will be a super way to make beautiful organic soil for the plants. I've done this to my zucchinis and my cucumbers when I saw your video!!!! I knew this will perfectly work. And as I'm cooking I get out on my balconies and throw the kitchen scrubs in there. It's so easy!
Oh, and you know....no earthworms for me...but everything is breaking down.
You've made my totes happy and me too!!! ❣️
I think that the trellis system with the tubes, the tulle ( I have it all over my plants) and this one are my favourites "must do" !!! Love them!!! 🤗❤️🐝
I am SO happy you are growing all that wonderful food for you and your family! Keep up the GREAT work, or should I say, FUN Gardening, always a pleasure to hear from you! Happy Gardening Maria!!!
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy Soooo thank you Robbie! ❤️ I wasn't be able to grow something and I was so sad watching everyone with these big gardens with so many food growing. And when I saw what you are doing I said "Wait a minute I can try this! And this! And this! "... And now, with your way I can grow so many food plants! On my balconies!!! I'm so so happy! I love to have a little bit of nature in my balconies! It's my little paradise 🤗
God bless your family!!!!❤️🙏
Robbie, I've watched just about ALL your videos. This is a great idea and is a variation on the "mobil unit" when you used coffee containers (sour cream etc). I use large coffee containers (at least 10" tall) in exactly the same way and are buried almost up to the top. If anyone wants the lid to come off easier, they just clip the side of the lid. It stays secure and is easy to get off...even with my arthritis.
Great video! I have been doing this with our empty powdered coffee creamer containers for a few years. Always amazing to see the work the worms do breaking down our scraps.
Kitty! Bless her heart! Once again, you've nailed it with another outstanding video!!!
Thank you❤️
Robbie you are amazing. I believe God is using you to help many people especially now. God bless you both 🙏❤️
This really is amazing. Where do the worms come from? Is there a time when you remove the soil like substance from the pitchers? Do you pour water over the pitchers regularly? This is such a wonderful way to compost! Would love to see videos of updates or more info on this. Love your videos and the enthusiasm in your voice with each one. Thank you!
She said they found their way in there themselves. 5:00 She did say it quickly. But I’m thinking she must have already had worms in the main tub so they could crawl in through the holes. ?
@@qimmu11 Thank you! So sorry I missed that!! This is an incredible idea!
Dear Robbie every Video ist teaching me Something New and it all works so well. I am a great fan of you and your inspiring spirit!!!
Robbie you can't have enough colour in your life - it makes everyone happy : )
Another amazing video as usual - I so love your enthusiasm.
The post below made me think (where do the worms come from?) of a "mistake" I made. I inherited an old metal dustbin (trash can) and I decided that I was going to make some liquid plant food for my garden but I forgot to make a "tea bag" out of a hessian bag to put the weeds and garden waste in before I added the water. Of course when I took the lid off the can it was a disgusting smelly mess so I procrastinated and decided to just leave it and get back to it when I was in the mood to tackle it - that was a long time ago : ( The other day I decided to put my big girl pants on and do something about it. Guess what? The whole stinkin, pongy, concoction is absolutely teeming with massive compost worms! So "if you build it they'll come" Ha Ha
Like the movie, yes you got it! And boy were all those wonderful critters of nature happy, and you will be too when you garden with that! 😊❤️💕
Hi Robbie I'm so happy you discovered fascinating way of worms. They will multiply like crazy and if you take good care of them they will enrich your soil unbelievably well! Pretty soon you will have enough to share with your daughter and your husband for Gary's Garden. I've been raising arms for a few years now and I'm still amazed by them! It's a great Hobby and my yard and plants are flourishing!
Gary has tons of earthworms and my Daughter too have lots of earthworms, so no need to share at the moment, unless some one ends up with run away worms, LOL thanks so much!
Yes please keep showing updates. Love them.
YAHOO, Robbie, this was fantastic! Being there with you tending to the pitcher and seeing the process is Amazing! Yes, there is never enough of your knowledge and ideas. THANK YOU 😊🥬🍅🍆🌽🌶🫑🍈🧅❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are simply the best!! I have had SO much success with growing food since I found your channel! It is utterly amazing. I think if all home gardeners followed your example, there would be enough wonderful fruits and veggies to share with everyone! What a blessing. ❤❤
And please continue to make updates. Each one that you do brings more information and ideas. Thank-you so much
My mind is blown right now. Definitely doing this when I transplant everything in a week or so.
I enjoy your channel.
I appreciate that! Thank you!
I love this idea Robbie! I have a container sitting around the kitchen that is begging me to use it in this application. Keep this fabulous content coming. ❤
Thank you so much 😊
You are Head of the Class.👩🏫 Robbie. Kitty was seeing Dollar signs💸💸💸 Keep Cool.😎🤙✌👩🌾🪱🪱🪱I have been composting my kitchen scraps for my veggies in totes on chairs with the juice container. Talk about Healthy Zucchini and Tomatoes and what not. Love Love Love.🏵🏵🏵 Nora & Manuel. See ya !!🦋🐝🐞
Wow I’ve been trying to figure out a easy way to compost.
Right, I love how she's set it all up. I'm going to stop throwing away food scraps now
NEW SUBSCRIBER HERE!!!! Thank you UA-cam for bringing me your channel to enjoy!!! I can already tell that I will be learning a lot from your knowledge! So excited!!!!!!!!!!!! I also live in Southern California. I can't wait for the weather to start cooling down so I can get my fall garden rolling. Living in the desert is not ideal for a summer garden but fall, winter and spring are fabulous for growing just about anything. Now it's time for me to watch more of your videos to see what I have been missing! Thank you for your creative ideas to help us in our gardens!!!
Oh Watch, but start collecting all those leaves and branches and food scraps so you will be long ready, you can still create soil even in the heat, as soil stays cool enough for those needed critters, Thanks!
I bought worms at the pet store and Put them in compost container like you did. My plants are doing so much better. Thank you for the idea.
How exciting! I LOVE worms! Thank you Robbie!
Thanks!
Your gardens are so inspiring and colorful be blessed with a bountiful garden❤️
Thank you so much ❤️
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing your video with folks.
Thanks Robbie, love the updates 👍😉🇮🇪🍀
Awesome Robbie, thanks for the update .
This is great! 👍 Thank you!
Hi Robbie, I'm doing the small container gardening. Would like your opinion. I'd like to modify the pitcher idea using a 16.9 oz plastic water bottle. Put holes in the cap and up/down sides. Cut bottom off and use as the lid that will fit around the opening that I'll put scraps in. I'll Bury ( lid size down ) about 1/2 of bottle. Do you think it's TOO small? Thoughts? Today we are having some hot muggy So. Cal weather in Seattle. I was born/raised down there. I miss so many aspects especially beaches/sun but it's changed drastically since 1956! You've got the perfect spot that's secluded, full of nature and land. I'm A flight attendant now so in 2011 I moved from my 5 acre home on the Olympic Peninsula To 7 minutes from SeaTac Airport. But!... I bought a perfect little home for $86,000 and I've created my own little paradise a couple blocks from a river perfect for kayaking, and where, unless you try to find a spot to look in my wooden fenced yard to see me, I'm all nature with fruit trees, berry bushes, cedar and oak like trees, conifer hedging, wisteria, jasmine, ferns, clematis, climbing vines, and other amazing vegetation. Yes it's a lot of work but it's mine. My place reminds me of yours: I have my 2 cats, birds, squirrels, rabbits, crows, hummingbirds, now a CONTAINER VEGETABLE GARDEN (BECAUSE OF YOU). A delivery girl said she felt like she was walking into a fairy garden through my arbor. I am blessed. My wildlife
get fed daily but it's my vegetables that are suffering a bit because I think they need the scrap feeder for better nutrition. I've been doing what you do trim vegetables and push the stems and leaves into the dirt. I always think of you when I do it and I'm so proud of myself for not putting all my scraps and cuttings into the yard waste bin now. I'll sometimes throw bits under a tree or bush. lol
It's getting late in the season but I want to grow more zucchini - mostly because I'm getting more males and me pollinating the new females is hit and miss. Wouldn't you know the Bees are finally coming around now! So maybe the water bottle scrap bin will help give me a new crop quicker? I hope it won't be too small.
Thank you! Love it..can't wait to try. Keep videos coming 😃
This is such an easy way to compost.
Easy and works fantastic! Thanks!
Love it Robbie! :)
Can’t wait to see more
Yep, enjoy your composting videos.
Just a hint... You can buy a cardboard carton of worms at a bait shop, or if you know a fisherman he might donate his leftovers on the way in.
Love y'all, stay safe and keep the videos coming!
earthworm Jim is where I get red wigglers the perfect composter
Everything you do and show on here I learn from and have to try. You got me stimulating the thrift stores economy LOL Thanks Robbie. I also now have a nice amount of hummingbirds visiting my Dollar Tree feeders and I have other little birds that are here in the area that come looking for bugs and other treats they can find. I love where I moved to, before in Florida where I lived I never got to see hummingbirds and though we had Cardinals, Bluebirds and Woodpeckers I never saw the beautiful birds like I see here now in Middle Georgia. ❤🌻🐦🐝🦋🐞
fabulous THANK you so much for sharing
Great job!
I did this it work so good. I too learn about squash in its own pot. It’s growing in with a plant I have. I’m glad your taught me that. Great information. Thank you🦋
Simple yet great system of composting and growing!
I'm enjoying cucumber and tomato from my bucket garden where I composted in place. I'm also enjoying licorice basil and Thai basil . Thank you Robbie. Remember to eat what you grow. ❤️🍇🍉🥝🍎🫐🍌❤️🙏
Loved this episode ❤️
Thanks!
Thank you! I love my pitcher s
You are so welcome ❤️
That so great. I'm going to try it .Thanks for teaching us
Thank you for the bucket idea. I always save my scrapes but I like this idea.
WAY COOL!
Hi Robbie, I'm using pitchers and coffee containers, I found a couple pitchers at goodwill! I keep looking for more! My dollar tree doesn't have any! They do have big plastic containers every now and then! Great idea!
Thank you. This helps a lot especially for a beginner like me.
Amazing! I'm getting worms with compost in place too, but, that was crazy! Thanks Robbie!
You are fabulous. I could listen to you all day. Well, maybe not ALL day. ❤️ 😍
You're right it is a wonderful happy place. I just think your pitcher idea is ingenious.
Thank you
Oh my goodness so many worms I definitely adding more containers to my beds and do the same, thank you for sharing how easy and fun it can be gardening 👩🌾
Love it,teach us more.💖
I'm going to use coffee containers, or any other containers with a top. I believe this will work along with the holes at the bottom. Experiment...
Oh, it will work, I have been using food containers, but the only thing, the pitchers are long so they go deep into the soil, easy and quick to drop things in, and easy to remove. I just want EASY that works GREAT, thanks
Like Robbie says, it will work. If the coffee containers are large, and maybe 10" long they will certainly work the same way. If you need the lid to come off easily, just make a clip in the side of the lid. It will stay on but easy to remove for you.
Really
I've been loving and learning so much from your videos. I planted my container garden in Apr/May, hasn't been doing much. In JULY I put together two totes I'd found at Good Will. I just harvested my first zucchini and yellow straight neck squash from them. I just put a two system in each 2 weeks ago and have already had to refill them. My plants are easily 4-5 times the size of my older plants! I'm a sworn believer!!!
I love composting also. Worms are our friends. If only people realized how easy it is to do... Their garden will be happier.
😊 I just can't get enough of your tips, tricks, talent, and personality Robbie! I was feeling depressed and overwhelmed at how much I have to do at home and seeing my container garden from last year just sitting there and me with low energy at daunting tasks. Although my potatoes are regrowing in their grow bags! But watching your videos inspires me and gives me a feeling of energy to get things growing. I bought another plastic kiddie pool (my other is used for compost from last year) and I'm going to grow my beloved zucchini garden in there using your tubing and rebar for trellises. I've got plastic water bottles I'll use as the compost containers to put around it, and all my other containers with all the other veggies I'm going to grow.
Although I'm still on medical leave from a TBI a few years ago, I'm so thankful I've had the time off, otherwise I wouldn't have found you and Gary and been inspired to container garden. Heck, even garden at all! My doctor encouraged me to do it as the other household and yard tasks, and my physical therapies were taxing my brain and my energy.
So a big ❤ of appreciation to you both. And what I don't eat what I grow, I'll compost it and feed my feed wrigglers!
Oh I got my zucchini seeds into the tote where I grew my yellow squash, added the two bucket system and the zucchini took off & getting ready to bloom so I’ll have some zucchini before we get a hard frost, can’t thank you enough.
How awesome!!!
Really..?
Please keep posting updates! I absolutely love this!! 👍☺️
How are you doing?
Thanks!
OMG, Merry H, THANK YOU SO MUCH for the SUPER THANKS. Such a surprise, again, Thank you for supporting our Channel! Take Care, Love Robbie and Gary
Those pitchers are working out so well. Great idea.... as usual. Thanks Robbie. Tell your daughter my Thai Soldier bean seeds arrived and are soaking. I'll plant tomorrow. I am so excited to try them. Oh, the okra seeds she suggested are jumping out of the ground. 🥳🎉⛅
I will tell her, and you can post it on her account too, Thanks!!!
I eat a lot of yogurt and recycle the 32oz. containers for different things. I’ll be using some for composting for sure. Milk containers would be great too.
Thanks for sharing Robbie. 👍😊
Thank you for your encouragement and enthusiasm.
You are so welcome! Thank you!
Thank you for the inspiration. Amazing ideas you have!
You are so welcome! Thank You!
Very interesting!!!! Thanks for introducing me to solar fountains..I have two now!!
Wonderful 😊
Robbie, I have been collecting my folgers plastic coffee cans, so yes, I will do what you are doing! Thank you for a great idea.
Go for it! Thanks!
I'm doing folgers too!
I've been getting a collection of plastic food containers and am starting to use them for this. I think this will be easier than the two-container system. I've also put holes in the lids.
Yeaaaa, thanks for showing us.
Any time! Thank you!
Ha ha. Just watched it again! I am soo ready for spring!!
Love yr utube
I WANT MORE!!!!
Amazing! I will have to get me some pitchers. I just love your videosbecause they are so informative. Oh! I have to tell you what I saw in my yard and they are staying in my woods! Two yellow billed cuckoos. They are so pretty and their calls are so different than any bird that I have ever heard. I had to do some research to figure out what they were because it was my first time ever seeing them. I was so excited 😊
Oh Wow, they are beautiful! How great they found your yard, what fun! Thank you!
Wow I got so excited when you empty the container and saw all the worms. This is what I've been looking for. I have a big composted but wanted something smaller to see the worms.
Ok-- this is a-MAZING!! BRILLIANT!!
I subscribe and enjoy learning from you and hearing about how your garden is, and your little visitors, and your cheery enthusiastic narrative. So much i have improved my practical gardening knowledge from you. But this idea should go viral-- it's so brilliant!! Simple! Inexpensive! Repurposing & thrifty! POSITIVE in every possible way!
Do you do garden tours ? I'm in WA, but would love to sometime come see your projects and your garden. PM me if maybe next year that might be ok. I come down to SD area about every 5 yrs, and see House Rabbit Society friends.
Well done, Robbie!
❤❤❤❤
The first thing I do is to check for any new posting. This one was great. Thank you. How is Gary's arbor doing?
I now have 3 pitchers in my garden, with soil and scraps. Dollar Tree! We will see how it goes! My yard is hard clay.
Since u did this I followed what you did but put on ground to get earth worms no worms so will put with my plants to see if will help my garden in this weird weather.
Just drove up to $Tree…have me so enthused to try it. How often do you put water in it? Bought three pitcher-like containers and putting in my raised beds. Love your channel
12-22 and 12-23 and it's 10º ans 9º in mid-central Alabama. Brought in the turmeric but garlic pots were frozen to tabletop. Collards happy, freezing supposed to make them sweet. Eager for Spring. ♥
Oh wow, the main thing is you stay warm and whatever plants don’t make it out there Well they’re compost and you will make more this spring. Have a wonderful holiday season. Thank you so much. ❤️
I'd love to see a comparison of totes from the beginning....have them be exactly the same except start one with the pitcher & one without.
Well I started using that to go like McDonald's we always get those cups and they have lids and it's just an experiment what do you think love your videos thank you and have a blessed day please give me your opinion on this and thanks again so much ❤️🙏
Hi Robbie, I have a question that I'm sure you can answer. I planted Sugar Baby Watermelons this year and I'm just now harvesting the really awesome fruit. Should I leave the vines or put them in compost? Will they blossom again or are they done? Thank you. Love the videos! Btw, I'm using your two bucket system in my traditional garden and it is working great feeding the plants! Thank you!!!
This is amazing! Would these pitchers work if I put them in the ground? Most of my plants and garden are already in the ground.
LUV the UPDATES👍Robbie please send me some worms 🪱lol🤣 I get rollypollies, roaches, centipedes etc...all but worms. Lizards line up daily for a feast when I adding... I've plenty cardboard & food scraps...thinking I don't keep my compost wet 🤔enough...when all else fails 👉headed to bait store for worms🪱🪱🪱 tmrw...got to start somewhere💚😁💚 🌻💚& dollar tree for pitchers😊. It's really dry & humid here in zone 10a FL🤣
Did you have holes in the lid from the pitcher? I'm going to try this for sure. Just found your channel and excited to try the totes!
Robbie, great idea. I live Phoenix and it’s beyond hot this year. Can I use this on my shrubs and trees? They are so stressed. How about flowers, will they love it to? Thanks
I love your ideas and it’s very creative but I think I would’ve added some shredded paper and or cardboard shredded or carbon it looked exceptionally wet
hey Robbie, what is that MINT GREEN tub that you dumped the worms into? is it a dishpan or what? that color is awesome & i'd like to get a few
Since your totes are up high on chairs, I wonder how the worms got up there ? , maybe they were in the tote soil already. Nice to see earth worms breaking down green scraps . Earthworms can drown in puddles of water so I wonder how your worms are doing so well in such moist soil. I do grow in Vego beds mainly but also have some totes with drilled hole drainage which I place on the ground so the worms can come up into the totes if they want to. I like your compost method which was a good visual ,but I would just dig down in the soil to bury it.
Hey Robbie! 👋 Is this the video on how to make the pitcher composter or is there another of you making it from start to finish?
Wish I could see you live for q and A. I am pretty new to your sight, but love it. I planted some shriveled tomato seeds in some
Herbal tbags, they are already speoutin leaves. I put them in a cottage cheese container with coffee grounds. My aloe and tomatoes love it
Wait. What? Just coffee grounds and the plant starts? I'm learning SO much here.
Yes, I am not at home, My first compost was really stinky, so I started one with only coffee grounds. I guess some plants love the acid, my cousin said stawberries love it too.
Hey Robbie, i have been feasting on your composting system videos lately.
Question: what software do you use for editing your content videos. Thanks.
Hi Robbie 👋
Hi!
@@RobbieAndGaryGardeningEasy have a great weekend 😀 👍 🙌 😎 😊
Question? I have been arguing with myself if I need a lid for each of the containers that i compost in place with or not?
I stopped using Chemical fertilizers -I noticed a chemical taste in my tomatoes - use Robbie’s natural fertilizer from broken down plants & you’ll get the real taste of all yr fruits & vegetables
I keep looking for the pitcher compost in place directions but I keep missing them. Please help me find it as I have 11 raised bed for plants that I got yesterday and I want to put the pitchers in them. Thank you for your help.
