Olympos is a village and a former self-governing community on the island of Karpathos. Houses in the village are built amidst lush green forests and preserve their traditional colour and layout. The village itself is a live museum with an idyllic atmosphere when the clouds come down and surround the village. Olympos retains an old fashioned way of life where primitive customs play an important role.The villagers kept the local dialect and the traditional costume due to the isolation of this place from the rest of Karpathos. The traditional style of the village attracts many tourists nowadays.
