    We don't have this exact model but they are great when the central air goes down and you may have to wait a couple of days for repair especially on weekends.

    Had this unit on for the first time today. Had the dehumidifier operating...I guess....Had the tube attached to drain out the water into a container, which we HUGLY UNDERESTIMATED!!! Our container was FAR too small 😢 when I checked up on it after 2 hours of operating, it had overflowed and soaked out carpet! I spent the next hour using heat to dry it out, so our lovely cooled room became hotter than before we started! Warning...USE A LARGE CONTAINER!!

    We had to saw the slider thing but the screw they sent doesn’t work. What irritates me is that they show it in various rooms on their advertising but show no tube coming out to go in a window. I feel it’s deceiving. I also don’t appreciate them not mentioning you may have to cut it to fit your window.

    Sent one from Amazon to my parents in Minnesota. They can’t figure out how to turn it on after plugging it in. lol. Any special tricks to turn it on? They said the breaker isn’t tripped.

      Other than making sure the button on the plug has been pushed, there's nothing else to it

    This video right on time I'm looking for another one lol I have a lg SMART portable ac now

    I just bought a similar GE unit. Didn't come with Smart integration, but did have a remote. Works well...louder than I would like but I don't have to empty the water as it has an evaporator. Yours is a great price point IF IT WORKS. I have read a lot of reviews that these type units (as opposed to window units) have a very high failure rate and virtually no support. So, time will tell. Stay cool, and keep the reviews coming!

    I know someone in Hyde Park who needs.
    At least, it'll be her birthday present. "Happy Birthday, family, stay cool!"

    I have found that having an extra source of circulation in the room can really help with these. An oscillating fan pointed at a slight upward angle will help mix the air a little better and stop the cold from lingering lower down as much.

    If you get to keep it I'd be curious if it's more efficient than running central AC? Thanks

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  3 місяці тому

      I can already tell you it would definitely be more efficient than running my central air. A 10,000 BTU air conditioner like this would be somewhere between 900 and 1500w. A pretty small 1 ton air conditioner is apparently 3,000w.

    All the bad stuff about those devices that they are very inefficient. Efficiency drops to zero at 90 Fahrenheit.
    Reason?
    This is one pipe system. One pipe means it exhausts hot air out. But! It is not vacuuming your room. It sucks hot air from outside. The hotter outside the less efficient this stuff.
    That is why systems like this sometimes have double pope systems. Those are good ones.
    The cheap way to make this one good is to add second pipe, intake, to this unit. You can make a manifold from cardboard and duct tape over your intake grill, and attach vent sleeve from home depot, and you are totally good for hottest days.

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  3 місяці тому +1

      The intake is already separate from the exhaust. It's on the back of the unit and draws in air from the room, not from outside.

    • @elimalyshev4735

      @@scaryifliteral Very funny reply. Draws air from the room? And blows it outside. Then another air comes into the room from where? From another room? Generally all air is coming from outside.
      And massive air flow, blown from your room, must be replaced equally by the other air, which is coming into your room not from space, 🌌 it is coming from hot street. So it looks like that you have you have two separate flows. One flow comes into your room from outside into your device, just for purpose to maintain cooling device working, receives heat inside and exhausted outside.
      And another separate flow, which is circulating within your room, which is being cooled and is blowing into your room.
      Those flows are normally must be separated otherwise you loosing efficiency dramatically.
      You are very smart in phones, but there's always room to be smarter in other fields. For example, basics of air conditioning and air flows.

      I took misunderstood your comment to mean that the unit was taking in air directing from outside (which is what a dual hose unit actually does).
      "Then another air comes into the room from where? From another room?"
      Yes, it's intaking air primarily from the rest of the house. When the unit runs it pulls in air from inside over the evaporator to be cooled. At the same time, some air from inside is ran over the condenser to keep it cool. The air that goes over the evaporator goes back into the room. The air that goes over the condenser goes outside.
      Doing this does create an area of lower pressure in the room because you're removing air from the room. The VAST majority of that low pressure is equalized by air from the rest of the house. Sure, if you don't seal around the exhaust, hot air will get in and yes that means that these units are less efficient that other options. Honestly, if you installed it correctly, you'll get more heat returned from the hose radiating it than from the air being sucked back in. Adding a second hose adds to that problem. Also, running hot air from outside over the evaporator to be cooled is also less efficient that using cooler air from inside.
      If you can mitigate air infiltration, I do not think the issues with single hose ACs are that big of a deal. Too many people just go by a "rule of thumb" without being nuanced. I'd appreciate if you dropped the sarcasm and passive aggression. No one likes being talked down to like that.

      Yeah the ones you can fit on the Window are better! The main problem with portable units is the exhaust is not that great and a lot of heat ends up in the Room so they need to work harder to cool the room down and use more power!
      At least with the Window type the unit sits on the outside and blows cool air in!
