Monetizing the layoffs as content is a smart move. You turn something negative into a positive, or, at least, you make something shitty less-shitty.
It’s also a symbolic gesture and an important lesson. Content is king. You can’t lose $1MM/month and expect to have a job when the entire company is at risk. You need to turn a profit. You need to see the opportunities and capitalize on them. Back to basics.

I don’t know how much a $12M loss affects their margins, but if Barstool is really doing that badly then this is an interesting strategy to say the least. Seems like kind of a nightmare from a PR/HR standpoint to basically post video proof of what seems to be a somewhat toxic workplace environment. I mean I get that it’s kind of their shtick, but if there is any truth to this office consternation and employees decide to take legal or publicly defamatory action then Barstool is kind of shooting themselves in the foot by uploading some of this.

I worked for a media company for 10 years, I was also one of the "good ones" and ones that helped that company make it to the top. I was the author of a project that still makes them money, and still got layed of in a similar situation. So cool of Dave to stay loyal to his old school guys. Now I work for their competition and I am back on the top. I enjoy every day looking back at those assholes strugling while I'm still the top dog. Fuck them!!! This felt so good. 😂
