Point of correction - The then Special Branch is today's reformed and professional NSIS.
Wanyoike Thuku, the guy who slapped J.M.Kariuki was not a Special Branch officer. He was a Mau Mau war veteran from Gatundu, very loyal to Jomo Kenyatta and was his unofficial bodyguard, who had not gone through formal police training but had been trained on the basics. That is why he would have killed for Jomo.

i just felt like shedding tears helplessly for the many times many other J.Ms have been killed by the government. And the sad part is Kenyans are very forgetful. such stories make headlines 2 to 3 days na tushasahau and we move on and the government knows that, in fact it capitalizes on that. so sad!!! when will we ever rise to the occasion and make the government accountable to its wrong doings? shukran mkurugenzi for always opening our eyes.
I don't think they are forgetful. After what happened to ouko and how people around him died mysteriously who would dare speak. Till date moi's name is still feared he's dead but his goons aren't.
Our politicians are lucky, they can talk to the president as if he's a child, kwanza joho and Babu awino are lucky. Had they talked like that to moi or jomo they would vanish that very day.
