We were doing this back in the 80s with rear wheel drive cars. We use to call them field cars. Every year I had a new one, or two. The neighbors hated us. So did the police for that matter.
I've been wanting to build one like this. I couldn't figure out what to cut and what to keep. It makes sense to keep the front doors and frame, then customize the rest. Thank you for showing me the right way!!!!
This reminds me of my 90 Ford Taurus that thing is a beast been in five demo derbies and several demo cross events after I had used it as my rally car for years car was a tank never quit
This IS the best way to make a buggy. Take and old car, remove everything and here you have it. All the engineering work is done for you, all parts are easy to find and replace, factory quality frame etc.
I love it, but would like to see more RWD STUFF BUILT. build yourself a cheap frame and turn that engine/ transaxle sideways and mate it up to some diffs and presto a cheap ,4x4
lengthen the strut from the bottom using exhaust tubing and then you can put some real big mud tires on it. Just cut it, add tubing, reweld. add air. Works.
the shocks are completely blown in the front end get some better ones from the junkyard and make some sort of 2-3 inch spacer between the top of the strut and the body to lift the front end and make it even with the rear. you could also put stiffer and longer springs from a larger vehicle into the strut in conjunction with a spacer but make sure the shocks get replaced with better ones
Awesome build , you inspired me to build one so I whent to the junkyard and purchased a car . But I have a question , how did you pushed the wheels outside ? Did you used wheels spacers ?
Drill a hole in the lower half of that strut, then weld a truck rim steel valve stem over it...the you can add air to the strut making it as hard as you want.
Plan on doing this to my pre ran derby car that plowed and I'm debating on running it or building a work/ you it's a 3100 V6 95 Gran prix 4 door I love running demolition derby cars I just have a young son he could enjoy it
I don't know what's worse, taking a car and pulling some of the body off and calling it a dune buggy or the people who "haven't seen this before" holy crap people, you live in cities or what? As a kid we use to build vw dune buggies, when fwd became popular, the younger kids started using fwd eng/trans to mount in the back replacing the vw drivetrain. And putting big tires on the back of a fwd....fail...and you wonder why you got stuck in a little bit of mud? Pull the drivetrain and weld it in the back so it's rwd!
I know this was years ago but these are my kinda people

Yes , making buggy from ground up costed a lot of money and probably wouldn't even drive that good
You got me looking for a 1997 Mercury Tracer. And someone with a cutting torch.
Never seen anything like this! I love it!
Thanks!!!
Awesome build looks like hella fun
Starting to build a 1992 Capri Xr2 into one of these for the Gambler 500. I like the new and improved rear on yours. 👍

Titties Mc Shwags it's got stock struts so it's got no more travel than factory and travel aside the shocks are t absorbing the bumps properly
That-JDM-Fascination! obviously you haven't ever heard of the term sarcasm😂😂
Shit. Send it!
I like it good job
Sick
"seems legit" fucking gold, bro
Awesome build , you inspired me to build one so I whent to the junkyard and purchased a car . But I have a question , how did you pushed the wheels outside ? Did you used wheels spacers ?
Looks pretty fun. When will you combine two cars to make a twin engine 4x4?
Holy crap that dude got air!!!!
Take it to Goodwood!

Hola voy a seguir tu proyecto lo voy a hacer en un peugeot 504. saludos desde esquel- chubut-argentina
bad ass you guys
looks really fun, a question though - it seems very bounce, isn't the suspension too stiff? or the back too light?
Yeah the back is pretty light. I have a plan for that though.
love it 😂
Will a heavier car or a lighter one be better off-road?
How did you get the bigger tires on the front?
Hahaha, this is so good!!!
this is one of the coolest things I've seen. be cooler if it was turboed though lol. sick video though
We've got some plans in the making to add a lot more horsepower...
I think I have headers for this I had a sohc 2000 escorts. I have a few other performance parts as well. Like 8.8 wires
seems legit
What Kind of Engine was Used in that Thing?
Dood your car is in a game. Ist called Beam NG. Search for beam NG seems legit 😊👌
2:44 Dorg: Aver Dorg Vamos Al Cine Todos En el Mercury Tracer Wagon

Make the front even with the rear, close off the cab and plate it. Cheap daily driver offroader
Seems legit enough.
Do u plan on any more builds soon
Yeah, we have a few projects we're working on and we have more lined up.
Draegast sent me here
What'd you guys do to move the gas tank?
Actually we left it in the stock location for now, we'll probably move it eventually though.
Need a front bumper and skid plate
I really want a cheap car to do this with
Where did you put the fuel tank ??
Stock location complete with a dirty sock stuffed in the filler neck. No joke.
Its a manual :D
Of course it is... Is there any other way to drive?
Renegade Racing and Customs yep sequential is also doible not us good tho
Idk how to drive automatic

Crazy af I did the same thing with a 2003 chevy Silverado hmu s.vh21 on snapchat
Hi Do you want support for your channel
should've taken the doors off
A bit of constructive criticism. Time lapses are boring, way more interesting if you do stuff and explain what you're doing.

Just because you know doesnt mean everyone else know. Dont look down on people.
this things a tetanus shot and visit to the hospital just waiting to happen. Also, instant dislike for that insanely obnoxious music at the beginning
That was our intention! And we already got our tetanus shots.
It's all good, I countered the dislike. Besides, I know how to turn the volume down.
Typical Toy so typical.
