How to Use the Transfer Board:
Prepare the Space: Remove any obstructions from the bed area, such as bedrails.
Adjust the Bed Height: If possible, lower the bed so that the mattress is slightly higher than the wheelchair seat.
Position the Wheelchair: Roll the wheelchair as close to the bed as possible, positioning it at a slight 30-degree angle.
Lock the Wheelchair: Ensure the wheels are securely locked.
Prepare to Transfer: Sit on the edge of the bed with your legs hanging down and feet flat on the floor.
Place the Board: Slide one end of the transfer board under your thigh, with the tapered edge facing up. Place the other end on the wheelchair seat, ensuring it’s well-positioned and overhanging sufficiently.
Execute the Transfer: Use your arms to lift and slide your body across the board. Perform several short, controlled slides until you are comfortably seated in the wheelchair.
Remove the Board: Carefully take out the transfer board once the transfer is complete.
