Hey, thank you for the video!! Could I kindly ask if I enrolled in an online thai language course would this satisfy the requirements? I would like to stay in rural thailand and I don't think they have any local schools?
@@formertenant9276 It is highly unlikely because if the government goes to the school to see the students, you need to be there or arrive within 2 hours. Sometimes you can do distance learning but they usually require you to live very close to the school for audits.
My wife and I stayed 6 months in 2007 on an education visa to take a SCUBA diving instructor course. There were folks at that school that had been there for more than two years because after becoming a SCUBA instructor there are multiple higher levels to study. Those at the school that stayed longer to become staff at the school all married Thais and got permanent residency.
If your over 50 years of age you can't get a ED visa to study Thai, Thai immigration changed the rules in Nov/2022. Before that there was no age limit. I applied for an ED visa in October/2022 was approved by the Ministry of Ed, when I went to immigration with the school to start the visa process I was not approved. Immigration changed the rules if your over 50 they won't issue a visa.
This is exactly what I would like to do . I want to learn Thai and I hadnt realised there were full time courses . A couple more years working and I hope Iii be in a position to come over for an extended stay . You look very academic in todays wideo Natty !
I'm a little frustrated, have watched a few vids like this and none give the hardcore details. Like I heard minimum 8 hours per week. There aren't a fixed number of weeks per month so is that 8 hours at least 52 times a year? OK so what happens when the school has no classes for a week with a holiday or you are between sessions? Also: You have to pay at least 50% for the entire course (12 months stay) even though the government may randomly refuse to renew your visa at 90 days 120 days 180 days 240 days renewal points? That's rough. The school I was looking at (some of them) said you can get 12 months but they only had a large class package only 7 courses long (400 hours),, if I finished their curriculum in that time and moved on to advanced classes and needed to switch schools (very likely) it wouldn't make sense to have already paid for 1 full year at a school that doesn't have enough advanced classes yet. I would burn through the 400 hours in only ~6 months. Also can you really not take a single week off to rest at some point?
Why do so many good muay thai gym say they dont offer ed vida but some less serious(imo) do offer it? I noticed this in chiang mai which is where i want to train😊
I attended 2 muay thai camps in Chiang mai less than a year ago and neither offered it. The only camps that i found that did offer it was not muay thai, it was a self defense course.
I live in Chiang mai and there are afew Muay Thai gyms that do offer it here 1) Chiang mai Muay Thai 2) dang Mauy Thai ( I train here) 3) hongthong Muay Thai ( best one to learn Muay Thai skill wise, if you want to get serious about fighting After training for couple months you can pick up local fights through your gyms aswell. I don't think there is a fixed cost to a language program here in Thailand. It would depend on what program you sign up for, but I'd like to recommend this program to you: alalanguage.com/
I am enrolled in an American University and i would like to transfer to an English speaking Thai University to complete my degree. Not sure where to begin. I am over 50 years old so not sure which Visa would be the most beneficial to me. Thank you for any advice
...I don't think it is illegal to study as a retiree? (Worth double checking, I think Indonesia is the only country where it is really illegal.) So even considering all the trouble of an Ed visa and the government looking over your shoulder seems crazy when it is so straight-forward, being 50, to get a retirement visa. Anyone else know?? Retirement is like literally just put money in an account and be done with it. Easy peasy
Hi there , thanks for a useful information, My question is: Is there age limit for education visa in Phuket? I’m an Australian citizen and age 56 year old, Am I eligible for Thai visa? Thanks in advance James
I was in Chiang Mai few months ago and I went to meet few visa agents for this ED visa. The first question they all asked was the age. I was 28 at the time. So they said ED visa is possible. I don't look too young or too old. So I wonder why they all asked the age first. Is there an age limit?
i am bringing my 14 year old son with me. he holds Philippines and American passports. he’s just learned english. can he qualify as well by enrolling him in a Thai regular school??
Depends on the school 🏫 some school offer different plans as in online class which can be 1-3 times a week, in person group class which is probably 3-4 weekly or private. Must check with your local school tho. There are many options here
Thanks for making this subject entertaining. Natty looks the part of a teacher for sure 🤣. I cant help but get a laugh every time they mention "ED Visa". In the west, ED is an abbreviation for erectile dysfunction 🤭😅

I think cooking is popular. What about a visa for eating Thai food. Then most could qualify. 🍜🍚🍚🍤🍤
😂And many would apply for it
The most abused visa in the range of those available.
How so?
