I just ran across this reaction. UFO is one of my all time favorite bands. Guitarist Michael Schenker is one of the best ever. Michael was a founding member of the Scorpions and their first lead guitarist at SIXTEEN years old. He left to join UFO. His older brother Rudolf Schenker took over after Michael left. Have you played any others? “Love To Love” (Studio version is best.) is one of my favorites of all time. They have a ton of great songs. If you haven’t played “Rock Bottom” play the live version from the album Strangers In The Night. That is considered the best live album in Rock history. Michael plays ALL guitars in the band and his solo on “Rock Bottom” is thought by many to be the best ever. Thanks guys!
Thank you. One of my favourite tracks by UFO but not a normal jumping off point for the band (who are much more hard rock than this song suggests). Their live album "Strangers in the Night" is one of the best of the 70s and a good general introduction; like many 70s bands they could, and did, deliver live. The guitarist was Michael Schenker, the younger brother of Rudolf Schenker of Scorpions. He was influential and sought after but preferred to do his own thing after he left UFO and has recorded with various musicians as The Michael Schenker Group (MSG) or variations on that name, since 1980. UFO were very influential on the NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) (bands like Def Leppard) and Iron Maiden have used their track "Doctor Doctor" as their "coming onstage" song for years. Suggestions: "Doctor, Doctor", "Love to Love", "Lights Out", "Rock Bottom". Always go for a live version for preference. My favourites (in addition to the above): "Mother Mary", "Martian Landscape", "Natural Thing", "Try Me"
This just a great sample of the music UFO put out !! They play ballads and the best rock you want to hear ! Lead guitarist is one of the best you will hear . Please play more!!!
Enough of the no drums comments, ya goob! UFO is one of the greatest bands of all time, certainly the greatest under-rated band of all time. The guitarist on that song is Michael Schenker...look him up on wikipedia...he is VERY acclaimed...VERY popular...and should be rated up there with Clapton, Beck and Page for his writing, not to mention his incredible playing. Though he has left the band, he is still touring quite a bit and well worth going to see...one of those see-him-while-you-still-can type of artists...
UFO had toured together with Rush for a while in the 70's, and they were constantly teasing and making fun of the latter, especially when it came to their stage outfits, and this was Rush's robes and kimonos era, too! 😄 They also called Geddy Lee "Glee" and gave him some fluffy slippers, with the comment, "These will go great with your robe, Glee!" 😄
UFO is great band! so much great music. highly recommend listening to anything off "the strangers in the night" album. It's a live album, every song on it is good. such a fantastic band, but so overlooked.
UFO is best represented by their amazing live album #Stranger in the night # . I heard them first time in 78 and I will say their quality shows in that it sounds even better now
I've always had two favorite bands since the late '70s; Rush being the other one. This song in my opinion is a complete masterpiece. Thank you for being the only Reaction channel to do this song. You should check out Born to Lose by UFO next. Michael Schenker is my all-time favorite guitarist.
Their Bassist, Pete Way did a few things inc. a stint as "Fastway" with "Fast" Eddy Clarke from the classic Motorhead and forming another band, Waysted.
UFO were one of the bigger bands in the late 70s to early 80s when I was just leaving school, they did really well but just seemed to stall. Again, I'd suggest Slade and Get down and get with it. A real storming stomp!
So much good stuff produced by bands in the 70's. Sadly many of them just never quite got the attention they deserved (?) Will throw in a request here for Barclay James Harvest "Child of the Universe" from 1974.
Schenker is a true genius

I believe they slipped on stage before Rush came on and nailed the slippers to the stage floor in front of Geddy’s mic stand
@@mikedown3219 - Yes, that's how Geddy tells it in the 'Beyond The Lighted Stage' movie, too! 😁
