I have one identical to this! It’s a dark burgundy color I believe it’s from the year 2004 reason I say that is the serial number says 03/04 so either 2003 or 04 mine still needs new belts but I haven’t been in a hurry to get any since my new location doesn’t have a lot of carpeting but I have been using it on the hose to clean my ceiling fans and end tables it has lots of suction this was a great machine for it’s time my grandmother also had this green one many years ago when I was probably at age 4!
Great video. I was able to get this same model barely used for only $45 bucks. Mine was made in 2001, and obviously the belts were slipping. I gave it a service and it worked like new again. The transmission on these are extremely fast. The suction and airflow on these windtunnels is insane. The windtunnel technology actually does work. I would agree with Hoover claiming this machine picks up more dirt than any other upright. At the time, bypass vacuums were starting to replace direct air machines, and a lot of early upright bypass vacuums weren’t that strong. Lubricating the bearings on the turbo brush will make it spin so much faster. Speaking of bearings, Hoover still used the old style open bearings in the brush roll. Every year, you have to clean them out and grease them. The new wood brush rollers are not only sealed, but are more aggressive. The biggest mistake Hoover made was to stop making the carbon brushes for the motor, and parts in general for this machine. These were clearly meant to last a long time.
This is definitely a high performance machine, but I don't think it outperforms every other vacuum out there by any means. I'm also bothered by the 12 amp motor scam, which this unit is part of. Hoover made plenty of direct air models in the decades prior to this one that worked just as well yet consumed only half the power.
On a somewhat related note; what kind of carpet do you have in that living room? I like the color and pile. I’m in need of replacing mine and haven’t seen anything I like until yours 😊
The pile is 'berber', but I have no idea what the color is. Do not get if you have pets; it doesn't hold up well to dogs running around on it. I imagine same would go for cats.
