- A bass cover of Dream Theater's Instrumedley dyinghorse7 recorded @ my home studio using an LTD B-206SM through a Behringer Dualfex Pro for EQing and a custom built preamp (based on a JRC4558 and a matched pair of diodes basically) attached to a stereo 50w STK power amp plugged into a 1x15 cabinet, mic'ed with an M-Audio Nova and a Sure SM57 both connected to an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra interface (Octane preamps).
the erotomania intro riff part was done so gracefully i had to replay that a bit. haha.

Well, John is one of my biggest influences too, but you can use a 5 for 95% of DT stuff. Only get a 6 string if YOU will use the range in your orginal music :)

I have the same bass with a 35 inch scale, and I got problems with the four thinnest strings who sound much thinner than E and B. Anyone got any advice for how I can solve it?
Ltd are great look into some Cort basses or even Warwicks are great..

I would try a different string vendor, that can make a tremendous difference - that is: if your bass is set up correctly .. meaning: try reducing the distance the pickup has to the higher sounding string first - put the pickup closer to the higher strings. if that does not solve it try other strings - I like ernie balls, 130 to 45 I think on that bass.
Quality is probably on par, the new rock basses are good the older ones are a tad ropey. I like made in indo basses and ESP have good QC. They will sound rather different so that's the key part. Extra string doesn't make it better or the player any better!

I'd say the Warwick wins hands-down, still if u really see need for an extra string, the LTD might be an option. Pickups are kinda shitty and need tons of EQing tho.

the pickups are terrible! I own it and its the only thing I hate about it. I wanna get seymour duncans for it. Which would you suggest that I get? I want the punchy tone of a p bass but the ability to roar like a warwick such as songs like panick attack
