Shames Mountain team solar PV installation - SE Guided Projects

Huge congratulations to Mackenzie, Tristan, and Gavin of the Shames Mountain team for successfully installing new solar panels to replace diesel-powered generators at a local community ski hill ⛷️ in Terrace, British Columbia! 🙌
The project is estimated to be generating power between 2,600 and 3,000 kWh annually, equal to about 1,000 liters of diesel saved, with cost savings of between $1,300 and $2,500 per year depending on the cost of diesel. Greenhouse gas emissions reductions are estimated to be between two and half to 4 tonnes per year. Additionally, these cost savings will enable the hill to invest in other areas to remain open, directly benefiting the community. 🌞
This is part of the SE Guided Projects, a 10-month program that funds easily replicable clean energy projects led by youth. It has a direct-to-youth funding model and breaks down traditional barriers to clean energy entrepreneurship. The program includes 2 months of intensive coursework and 4 to 8 months of project execution, with coaching, mentorship, and funding provided throughout. 📚👩💻
