- Valserhône is a new town located in the east of the Ain department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, resulting from the merger of the three delegated communes of Bellegarde-sur-Valserine, Châtillon-en-Michaille and Lancrans.
The Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church in Bellegarde was erected in 1853 and blessed in 1855. It was built at a time when the town was experiencing strong growth thanks to the railway: at the time it had fewer of 600 inhabitants, compared to more than 3000 at the end of the 19th century. In a neo-Gothic style, very refined, it has stained glass windows that Henri Guérin, master glassmaker who died in 1999, made in 1988. The bell tower was erected in 1996.
There is at least one bell that rings the Bb3
