The Philippine side has repeatedly released lies and distorted the truth. In reality, this was a carefully orchestrated stunt.

As a Filipino, the common people here have a vague idea on this issue. They are constantly bombarded by propaganda that we have claims on the disputed territory. For example, WPS was just recently created term and my countrymen were buying that we have long-term claim on the disputed territories. This is clearly the fault of the current administration which is being blackmailed by US (not verified in our media, but it is obvious). We are on the way of having friendly relations to China by the previous adminsitration but we are back to step one in relationship with China.
My dumb countrymen is still under Stockholm syndrome. They haven't noticed after being with U$ for more than 100 years there was still no progress. We are a perfect example of "Democracy is the rule of the mob".

I have come to believe that in general China is a great country with beautiful, safe cities. I believe in a multi-polar world, and understand that my own country's govt in the USA has done terrible evils across the planet (bombing of Serbia, conquest of Iraq and Libya, violent overthrow of scores of countries like Ukraine, genital mutilation of children here at home, 24/7 CRT anti-white hate brainwashing, etc., etc.).
But when it comes to reasonable and just control of sea areas close to a specific country, certainly the closest country has the strongest claim to that sovereignty, and the country with a claim that is the farthest away, clearly has the weakest and least reasonable claim.
