hey hi ! i have a doubt, you were wetting the petals after the first layer again so if we do that like the base colours wont they mix up because of water that we are adding?
like should we have to add less amount of water or i didnt understand how come base colours arent mixing for you.
last but not least its just amazing

I’m just wondering, you do allow the paint to dry before starting a new section right?

Hello Maria! I just love your work!! You make painting look effortless! Your blending of colors is seamless. On that note, I’m curious about your selection of paints. What are your thoughts regarding Holbein? I’ve been wanting to try them based on your videos. However, since most colors are multi-pigmented, I’m afraid I won’t be able to mix them well as well as yours. I’d appreciate your feedback. Than you!

Hi Renee, thank you so much ☺️💕 I have been painting with Holbein since 20017. I have tried other brands in between, Rembrandt, Sennelier, Van Gogh, White Nights, WN were my first..etc... but I always came back to Holbein.
There's something different about their paints, I have learnt to paint better because of the creaminess of their watercolors, and having more control (the company doesn't add oxgall to their paints like others do). Holbein is by far one of the best if not the best out there.
As far as blending and mixing goes, here's my tip: it's best to mix colors on the paper vs in your palette, this helps to avoid muddiness of colors. I usually slightly blend the colors on the palette and then let them to mostly mix/blend on the paper.
That's the key, otherwise, it doesn't matter what brand of watercolors you are using - mixing colors on the paper, especially too many at once, will give you that muddiness.
Holbein does have a few of semi opaque and some opaque watercolors, but that's when I learnt to mix/blend colors on the paper vs palette.
When I painted with WN or tried White Nights for example, it's easy to get into muddiness. Especially white nights - their colors muddy in seconds, that was more than I have ever experienced. Colors are vibrant and pretty, but not for someone like me, who likes to paint in layers and use a lot more colors. I hope this helps a bit ☺️🌹

@@mariamorjane Thank you Maria. I greatly appreciate your feedback! I will give them a try as I am looking for something a little bit different these days. I also started my watercolor journey with W&N. I have also tried DS, Sennelier, M. Graham and Qor. I keep going back to W&N for their clear colors, lightfastness and single-pigment selection (I sound like an advertisement😊) 👩🏻‍🎨 🎨 ❤️
