  • In today's video I'll show you 4 ways to properly mix your substances together and get nice homogeneous mixture that is always wanted when it is about making pyrotechincs. This 4 methods are very simple and effective, anyone who makes pyro or just need to make homogeneous mixture, should use them more often. These can be aplied not just for pyro, they can be used in many more situations. I've choosen some of these tools because they should be available to anyone, no need for big expanses! Enjoy, and I hope these methods of mixing will help you, no mather if your pyro man or just girl in the kitchen ;)
    Thank you for watching this video! Like if you enjoyed and Subscribe if you like this type of content. Have a nice day! Peace.
    My previous video: • HELICOPTER FIREWORK ||...
    These pyrotechnic products are made in country where it is legal to make or modify pyrotechnic products. This video has only educational and scientific purposes, I do not encourage anyone to try making these. And this channel will never promote real bomb-making tutorial.
    Again these are just pyrotechnics for display.

    If you want to make FP, just get KCLO4, and mix it with blackhead in a ziplock baggie. Double zip freezer bags are best. Best practices are to mill, grind, or otherwise further reduce and powderize the 04 oxidizer before mixing the ingredients. It’s all about creating maximum surface area for a faster reaction. Don’t do any prep with the Al. If you have the right stuff, it needs no prep. Just mix the two ingredients in the baggy, holding the top corners, and rotating the bag in a wheel like fashion for ten minutes, occasionally reversing direction, and randomly mixing the bag. Mixing longer is even better. Better mixed powder performs better than lesser mixed powder!
    KCLO4 is a better oxidizer for FP than is KCLO3. The booms are as good or better, and it’s a lot safer than 3.
    Be responsible!!!

      What’s the most you’ve mixed this way?

      You can make 50 grams in a one gallon freezer bag. 35 g O4 and 15 g Al is a good mix, but I usually make it 35/17 to achieve something between 2:1 and 7:3 ratio.
      However, It’s advisable to start with 10 gram batches in a sandwich size ziplok until you’ve become thoroughly familiar with all aspects of FP. You don’t want extra FP lying around unless you have a safe storage cabinet which can withstand an accidental explosion.
      10 grams FP will make 5 m80s.

      KNO3 & dark aluminium at about 50/50 mix, blended using folding paper (diapering) is good for sensitive mixtures such as perchlorate and D,Aluminium or even Armstrong's mixture.

    • @countryboompyro6746
      @countryboompyro6746 5 років тому +4

      They are all wrong. Do not listen to them. A 50 50 mix is not flash powder. Potassium nitrate will NOT make flash powder. You must be extremely careful because even one gram unconfined of true flash powder CAN detonate. Which means explode. Dont go putting magnesium and sulfers in flash mixtures either. Makes it even more dangerous and its usually used by experienced pyros. There are several different formulas The safest and strongest flash powder you can make, and the only one you should make is 70% potassium perchlorate and 30% dark aluminum with both being finer than flour. And thats by weight not volume. Use whats called diaper method to mix the two together. As a beginner and you having never made it, i reccomend not making more tham 5 grams at first. A standard m80 only takes 3.5 grams. And before you decide to make it, use common sense and research it on actual pyrotechnic forums and pages, not by reading random comments on youtube. Yes my comment falls into the random category but i am actually a licenced pyrotechnician. Be safe. I cant stress that enough. Flash powder is friction, heat, and shock sensitive and static electricity WILL ignite it. And with no offense to you by amy means, i would reccomend learning about black powder and experiment with small amounts of that first. Black powder can be dangerous but 10 grams of black powder is way more forgiving than 10 grams of flash powder. 10g of black powder will hirt yoir hand and MAYBE lose a finger. 10g of flash in a cracker, say goodbye to most of your hand. Start small, learn, use common sense. Flash powder is the most explosive, sensitive and dangerous formula/compound used in pyrotechnics. If you decide to go further, take my recommendations.

      @@andy10001 it would be too sensitive handle, especially if put in storage, my older sister's dad told me about things getting *stronger* according to some idiots while in storage

    • @countryboompyro6746
      @countryboompyro6746 5 років тому +1

      @Octanepyro Yeah there are a lot of different formulas for flash. The one i stated is in my opinion the strongest, def. The easiest and by far the safest one to make. Sulfur in these formulas is usually used to bulk it up because sulfur is relatively cheap, and by adding it, it will actually make the flash powder more sensitive and weaker. And if there is any flash that is stored and it has sulfur in it, it majorly weakens the compound and makes it more unstable as time (weeks) go on. If your going to make any, i reccomend only making the amount you wish to use, dont store any, and use the formula i gave you. Keep in mind you will see potassium chlorate and potassium PERCHLORATE. You can, but i do NOT reccomend using chlorate, it is way more sensitive and unstable. Stick with PERCHLORATE. So, thats 70% potassium PERCHLORATE and 30 % dark aluminum powder. Both must be almost air float, similar to the consistency of flour, or even finer. Mix carefully, look up and use diaper method. And you use the chemicals by weight not volume. If you want to see what the flash powder looks like, go to my channel, my very first video i believe is that exact formula i stated here. And each small pile is probablly only 1/8th of a gram if not less. Amd the crackers on my channel, i made, and are made with that flash formula. Come on my amd subscribe, ill be adding more videos here soon. Be safe out there!!

    Very informative video but isn't method 1& 2 enough?
    Will Method 2 & 3 make any noticeable difference?
    BTW thank you for making this type of videos 😃

      It's never enough to know. All 4 methods could be used alone for mixing, but you can always run thru different methods to get more homogeneous mixture. Thank you for your support, means a lot!

    Your potassium nitrate is very wet. you need to put it in an oven to dry it out. the grey color is an indicator of the hydrous form of KNO3

    Whats wrong with your potassium nitrate. Why is it grey? Also, just my own reccomendation, get rid of those glass marbles for the ball mill media and use ceramic. I actually found the ceramic marbles at walmart in the ammo area labled as wrist rocket or slingshot ammo. Much much safer.

    • @MakeAndDestroyFireworks
      @MakeAndDestroyFireworks  5 років тому +5

      It is correct that it is mostly used for that type of substances, but if you need a quick mixing of two substances, it's obvious you'll use the method you have tools for in this case just paper sheet.

    • @countryboompyro6746

      Almost all pyrotechnic comps are sensitive to friction, as friction causes heat and doesnt heat ignite the compound? Yes it may not be needed for what he is doing but he is showing his understanding and usage of very good safery practices. SO that makes you, wrong. He is correct.
