Best tutorial on creating a chord melody that I have ever watched or read (I'm experienced guitarist). His explanation on Key choice was extremely helpful. I have created chord melodies but Emil has a very methodical, logical, and beautiful way to arrange chord melody for Summertime as a swing tune. Much faster arrangement than I can create with trial and error. Plus, Emil respects his time and ours (audience), he appears to have edited out the non-instructional information. He doesn't waste time looking at himself in the camera or talking endlessly. Emils sets a new level of excellence on guitar tutorials. 5 Stars. This is great. Many thanks & best of luck.
Cannot believe I missed this a year ago. Fab. This is how I learned to play guitar. Getting tog with a friend who knew a song I wanted to play and then watching and learning. No tabs, no sheet music, just eyes, ears and fingers (and memorising the changes). I love your style especially when you launch into those wonderful solos, but am mystified by modes, scales, arpeggios and how you dance from one to another. A baby steps lesson would be great based say on this song and expanding on your ideas mentioned in the vid about sticking to the pentatonic scale with a few incursions elsewhere. Thanks
Alright, it took me quite a while, but now I can play it. YEAY! In hindsight, I think the struggle was quite important for the learning process. I do have to say, all your explanations and being part of the “journey” of how the arrangement finally comes to live, helped me learn a whole lot about chords and also orientation on the fretboard. I surely won’t forget this song so easily. Puh 😅
Dope! More lessons like this please. Thanks for sharing a (behind the scenes) look on your process. Definitely inspired me to pick up the guitar again. Greatly appreciated!
This tutorial is pure gold!!, its hard to explain how much i have enjoy this video. It's s true gift that guitar players with your level share with us his creative process, with this quality of resoult and... IN JUST HALF HOUR!!!, oh man... how manu days do you need to arrange and present a song?. You are a very gifted guitar player Emil, thanks for share!!.
Anthony, I’ve been asking some of our subscribers if I could share their positive comments on our website. Would it be ok if I shared your comment on our website, and if so - could you send me a picture (If you have) so that I can have your picture next to your comment on the website? (emil@proguitar.com) If you don’t want me to post this on the website, is absolutely no problem! I just thought I’d ask since it was such a nice message that you wrote! 😄 have a wonderful day! Kind regards /Emil
That is such a great song and an even better tutorial. I really like the way you teach this kind a stuff. It is no wonder that this joy and love of music you bring across really is contagious. Even though it is quite late already, you made me want to go downstairs, pick up my guitar and try that piece. Thank you 🙏
WoW !! You've made learning this song FUN ! I'll have to come back to this teaching again and again to get it right, but that's o.k. I've always wanted to learn a jazzy swing tune. Tempo is really important here. I'll break it down into sections so I don't get frustrated and give up. I don't have to be perfect. Those fillers are pretty. I learned a lot from your lesson. Thanks for going over things so many times, calling out the chords, melodies, and finding even better ways to light up the song. I've been playing this tune recently in Am, but it's not nearly as beautiful as your version. I really like your style. I'll pass the word around !
Brilliant. This is SSOOOOOOO instructive.!!! A hugely _generous,_ masterly demonstration and demystification of arranging. Pitched _(for me at least)_ at exactly the right level. Thanks you so much.
amazing. just amazing. You blew my mind away. Maybe, once a time I‘ll be abel to play this arrangement. 😅 As a newbie it was fascinating to watch this process of arranging a song from scratch. thanks a lot!
Wow, incredible arrangement! Not many guitarists use standard music notation! Maybe you could do a video on how to translate this to the guitar (it's so difficult with many of the same notes). Keep up the good work!
You made that look easy .. But for us mere mortals not so easy .. 🙃 Great tune and very cool arrangement..✨️ A lesson and tabs is what I need , ( please do a tutorial ) and even then I'll be struggling 😅 Hopefully I'll be able to play the video in slow motion .. that might help .. and believe me I need all the help I can get .. 😁 love the finish .. cool touch .... Thanks Emil 😎 🎸 🇮🇪
11:27 "Now I gonna have to try to learn to play it in tempo". So, you were human at last. Or at lease generous enough to let us believe what you usually do with your guitar isn't godlike. Well, thank you for your kindness. :-)
Great arrangement from a Great Master!!! ❤️ I am so amazed that i would like also you to make a tutorial solo part for that song!!! Please if you don't mind, I would definitely pay for that!! Thanks in advance😎
Hej Emil...är ett stort fan🙏🙏🙏älskar din spelstil...kan du inte göra en lika dan genomgång på arrangemanget på din cover på Brothers in arms...mvh Lasse..
Great Emil, beautiful arrangement and equally the explanation in detail, congratulations. A curiosity, what music writing system or application did you use on your tablet? Thanks and good music Emil .
Thank you so much Pino! :) Regarding the writing application. I actually just upload empty manuscript PDF documents to the "books" app that every iPad has! Great for teaching. Thanks!

riktigt snyggt. Jag ser fram emot en lektion med den låten.
Great vid
You left out, as far as I can see, how you arrived at that harmonization. That is a good part of the work.
What Guitar is that?! Thank you!
It’s a Maton ebg808 artist😊
❤️👍👍👏👏
You can trust Emil forever!
I actually would also like a tutorial, if I had a wish!
Where’s the finisher tab
Awesome 👏
