This bo3 change is it for me. It's becoming more clearly now that nrs is not interested in making a serious competitive fighting game but instead focuses on the "omg this brutality sick af omg" - crowd that's unable to hold their focus for more than two games.
Being immune to both normals and projectiles should cost 2 bars.

When it comes to the FT2 vs FT3 discussion, What I would do is similar to what Killer instinct did with its ranked mode. I'd make it first to 2 for lower and mid ranked matches, since that's where most of your bad connections are gonna be found (since casual players are more likely to play on Wi-Fi), and I'd make it First to 3 when it's a match between two high ranked players. Now, the exact cut off for "High ranked" is subjective and we can discuss where it should be, maybe god ranks or something. But I think that's the best Model with the fewest drawbacks.
I wouldn't make it "Optional" between FT3 and FT2 like a lot of people are suggesting, because that would split the player bases and make the Queue times much longer, especially later in the games life cycle. In a game with no online practice mode, long Queue times between matches would be DISASTROUS for its multiplayer. People WILL NOT like staring at a "searching for opponent" screen for 10 minutes between matches lol

@@HalcyonEX Because people who spend more time gaming will usually spend more money and time on their gaming set-up and equipment. (Aka getting gaming-quality Ethernet cables and Routers) whereas more casual people tend to take the "plug in and play" approach with their gaming set-ups and are far less likely to spend the extra money and time setting up gaming-quality Ethernet cables and Routers.

@@HalcyonEX While those players do exist, they would be the exception to the rule. The best we can do for those players is to encourage Developers to Optimize their games online play and Netcode, like the recent move to rollback Netcode that a lot of fighting games made. So things do seem to be going in the right direction for those people. Lastly, encourage Developers to put plenty of good Offline content in the game OR even adding online PvE/co-op content so the people in those tough situations can still enjoy their love of gaming without relying on online PvP connections.

You're one of the only players I've seen to effectively communicate why the FT2 change is a negative impact for players.
Give people the option of first to 2 or first to 3, and pair us only with people who picked the same option as us. Simple. I want first to 2, but I'm worried that so many people will complain about it that they'll just change it back. As somebody who's been down 0-2 and won 3-2, and somebody who's been up 2-0 and lost 2-3, I am *infinitely* more annoyed when I lose 2-3 than I am happy when I win 3-2, and I would also like to rank up faster and not devote my entire life to KL, so I am perfectly happy with first to 2, but there's no reason people shouldn't get what they want out of it.

This immediately has a massive flaw: splitting the playerbase. Inevitably, more people would choose 2/3 which would leave 3/5 with significantly less players which means you’d end up fighting the same players more regularly. In a game without cross play, splitting the playerbase is not something that is viable for long term health.

Feeling a bit cynical with this Kombat Kast, but I'm getting the feeling first to 2 happened because filters would split the playerbase and crossplay to bring the playerbase together would cost money. Also, literally only have to swap a value then call it a QoL improvement.
For the DLC, as you say it cost money so pay2win for the season. Gonna spend my early access labbing Omni to see how he gets beat, but seems like the real dirt will be Tremor. Oooo boy lmao!

They absolutely should just allow you to decline matches over certain ping and left it first to 3, especially with Ranked. The 5th match is always super intense, you both know each others tech fairly well and it makes for so much hype, and when someone gets a 0-2 runback on me I feel like they earned it usually by figuring me out. Saying I can "fit more games in on a lunch break" doesnt make the games any more enjoyable.

Tremor has such a crazy amount of good attacks in his Summon kit, and you can fucking turn each attack into an ambush during the cycle. I’m having a hard time thinking of downsides for Tremor, why would I pick any other kameo? maybe he doesn’t have good combo extenders? I hope NRS buffs all the other kameos up to this level, rather than the almost guaranteed overcorrection that’s coming in Tremor’s future lol.

I don't have enough time in the day to commit to FT3 but the game is built on it and is objectively better. It'd be cool if they gave us an option to choose either or but if you do FT3, it rewards you a bit more than regular KL victory ranks do. Like keep the rank grind the same it is now for FT2 but boost it a bit more if you're doing FT3 and just change them with a filter at any time.
If you don’t have time for a Ft3, then you simply don’t have enough time to play video games at all. Which is fine.
Quick note: you can literally switch tremor while comboing so you'll always have crystal ready. KL is gonna be a bloodbath.

The only complaint I tend to hear for fft3 is being in there with a bad connection. And the ire is directed towards the format instead of the quality of the experience. It’s like asking to be punched in the nose 7 times instead of 10 times. Okay…I guess🫤. But how about not getting punched at all. How about they mend the games’ stability instead of trying to make you more comfortable living with it. Just a thought….

It said you need to call them out "Summon" then cycle through two variations just to get Crystalline variation, then it's a summon.
You can make any move an ambush but it costs entire Kameo meter but to get to Crystalline you need to spend kameo meter to get it out or at very peast set it up.
If we find ways to easily get to Crystalline Armor it will be absolutely broke with Kenshi, Johnny and Omni-Man!!!

The variations for a kameo might have some implications for Khameleon. Given all the things lacking in the game so far, I don't think it was necessarily intentional, I'm pretty sure it was released too soon (most likely because of the leak of its release earlier in the year).
And unless all of that Omni-man stuff is really unsafe, he's going to dominate.
i dont care about having to be stuck in a laggy ass match cuz if i join a match and it's laggy i just leave. cuz it's not worth my time dealing with it

Honestly im pretty baffled after this kombat kast. Dont get me wrong omni man looks fine but seeing tremor actually annoys me. Not because of what he can do but what a lot of the other kameos/characters cant do. They really need to figure out what to do with this system.

A character that just says "no" to 100% of the zoning in the game, and a character with 7 kameo moves including armor that plows through attacks with no damage and they cost money is objectively NRS telling you to buy these characters to make the game easier. No, it's not an automatic win (especially since the amount of Omni-Man/Tremor mirror matches will be off the charts), but it's going to boost the amount of wins you get purely because of the skillset. It's Cyrax on steroids.

The full kameo meter to spend the ambush for an attack is good but again your point stands, we have a kameo that does literally the same thing just a little less varsatile but it doesnt work the same
