      Thank you so much for watching and for the kind words Donna. If you are thinking of making some bows for your doggie, be sure to scroll down to the comments from Sandy Grant. She points out that the bands I used are not the best choice because they are not all that long lasting. Look for 'groomer bands' which are much stronger. Happy bow making!

    Just in case anyone is wondering like I was- I managed to make this easily with my fingers, without the weave.

      Yes, I'm sure some people can do this. The tool certainly does make it a lot easier and less frustrating for me since I have only two hands. Thank you for watching, but I have to wonder why you felt the need to leave a message like this when you clearly liked what you learned by watching.

      @@bonniegarbydesigns I think they were just trying to let people know they can do this without having to spend extra money on the weaving product, just in case people are turned off trying it because they don't have the weaving product. I don't think they were trying to be rude. I can see where you took the comment negatively though.

    Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorial! I just received my Bow-it-All today and excited to create :) You mentioned the width of ribbon but, what length did you use for the dog bow? Many thanks! More videos please. :)

    I make bows for groomers and have to tell you, those bands won't last long. They break and stretch out to easily. regular groomer bands (buy online) OR you can get dental/ortho bands that are used for braces. They are essentially the same.
    2 bands are used so if one breaks. Also for putting on a collar try using infant sized terry bands (dollar store). Put them on the same way and when putting them on the collar, lay the bow on the collar at the point you want it, pull the band up over and around the back of the collar coming all the way back to thgthge front and slipping the bow in the center and into the band. The band will then be around the collar and holding the bow in place sort of like a slip knot.
    Question, why so much waste of ribbon? When you trimmed the tails there was at least 2-3 inches on each side. ???

      Hi Sandy. I really appreciate your input about the bands. As I said, I'm not a dog bow making expert and I really didn't know what bands to use. Do you have a favorite place to order top quality bands that you would like to share? I imagine if you are making them for your own dog, any band would be fine since you will likely switch them out quite a bit, but if you are selling them, you would want better quality bands. As far as ribbon length, when I teach bows, I like to have the person use a bit longer length just to avoid frustration. It's better to cut some length off the tail ends than to struggle with a ribbon a bit too short. I use ribbon scraps, but if I had spooled ribbon, I would make the bows while the ribbon is still attached to the spool for less waste. Thanks so much for watching and adding this great info about the bands. I hope you will share a source for the best place to order quality bands.

      Hi Bonnie, thanks for letting me know about the ribbon. I'm considering buying one of the bow it alls for making my small bows since my hands are getting worse and some days I spend more time picking up things than making them, lol.
      As for my bands I order them direct via EBay. Just search "grommer bands". I buy in bulk but many of the suppliers sell smaller quantities. If someone is buying just for their own little one I suggest either calling your dentist to see if they have them or have a number for an orthodontist they work with.
      For my own little Lhasa I use the infant sized terry ones. Just like us, they get headaches from having rubber bands in. I recommend pet parents put the bow/flower in when they groom them in the morning and then remove them at night before the pooch settles down for the night.
      Hope that helps. I enjoy your videos, keep up the BEAUTIFUL work!

      Thanks so much for your kind words and stepping in to help with the groomer band tips when I blew that on my video - lol. I also found some on Amazon, but you are correct, they are larger quantities. I never thought of ebay and will check there as well. As far as the Bow-it-All is concerned, I think you will love it. I don't have arthritis yet, but I think the tool would be very helpful with dexterity and pain problems, especially with the helping hands pegs. It will take some practice to get your hands used to the new movements as with anything, but I just love the tool as you know. Thanks again and happy bow making!

    I'm trying to make a small dog bow with a rubber band but the bows untie easily when I pull on the ends when it's finished. Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong? The bows I make without the rubber bands come out perfect.

    • @bonniegarbydesigns
      @bonniegarbydesigns  4 роки тому

      Hi Donna. If you are saying you can make the exact same bow without the rubber band and it doesn't easily untie, then it's not your knot. It may be the rubber band. The easiest thing you can do is tie it with the rubber band and then add a little glue over and around the knot so it won't untie. I hope that helps.

      Thanks so much and I'm glad you liked the video. Little girl hairbows are the next topic just as soon as I get time to plan the video. These bows would of course be perfect for little girl bows for pig-tails or pony-tails though, right? Happy bow making!

    Which pegs would you recommend if you want to make a bow for the collar of a large dog? I would love to make one for my German Shepherd.

    • @bonniegarbydesigns
      @bonniegarbydesigns  8 років тому

      Well, I would say to just envision the size you would like (maybe more like 3" or 3-1/2") and then use that spacing for the pegs. If you are going wider, I would also suggest a wider ribbon like 7/8" wide increasing from a double-loop to a triple-loop bow. I personally prefer the basic double-loop for a dog bow, so wider ribbon would likely be the best option. RRR carries a wide variety of colors in 7/8" in double-faced satin or grosgrain of you want to try that. Have fun experimenting!

    Way to complicated and time consuming for it's purpose and requires eccessive ribbon. Why complitate a simple and very quick process.
